We went for an evening meal in the restaurant food was excellent and produce all from the farm n gardens. Service was warm and friendly and nothing too much trouble. Good value for money. Well worth a visit it was shame we didn't av time to go to the hall and walk round the gardens will definetely revisit if we go back to lincolnshire.

User

We had our wedding at doddington hall! The lead up and support from the planning team was fantastic nothing was too much trouble! The day itself ran perfectly! It is the most beautiful of venues and we couldn't have asked for better!

User

We always love visiting Doddington and today we very much enjoyed the Iris gardens.

We would particularly like to thank the manager who came to the aid of my mother in law who fainted in the car park this afternoon and was wonderful with her. (Sorry, we didn't get your name.

Thanks very much. Simon and John

Never been here before and thought id take my gran for a birthday treat. Excellent place for accommodating disabilities. Very friendly welcoming staff, the gardens were kept lovely and the food in the cafe was delicious. The farm shop is excellent has everything you need in there. What a fab place for a day out

User

Me and my daughter had a great day! The summer of imagination was just lovely. We enjoyed a tour of the hall the guide was great, kept things really age appropriate for my 9 yr old who asked loads of questions and loved the interaction. I had loads of questions before our visit and was answered quickly via the Facebook messenger. My daughter is now asking if we can return for the Christmas events!

Great day highly recommended !

User

Lovely day exploring the gardens. Incredible thought put in to the lovely magical extras in the garden. My six year old loved everything from the clever talking trees to the fairies and maze! Yet again Doddington Hall have excelled taking children into a world of imagination and magic-thank you. Lovely lunch also xxx

User

Just visited with my family, amazing place. So much look at and lots of walks and trails, bit too cold to do in the winter if you aren't wrapped up well And preferably in walking boots or wellies.

User

Just been to food and drink festival and popped round the hall and gardens too. We thoughly enjoyed it!

User

I went to an afternoon tea for my sister's 50th birthday, we had the nicest waitress and a great time... photos in the gardens after and a wander round the kitchen garden, the shop is amazing and I will be going back to take a better look soon I hope... Awesome place... Xxx

User

I just want to thank the young man who was taking trees off the tractor on Wednesday afternoon. I was choosing a Nordman Fir, he said What about this one, I agreed after he even gave it a twirl . It is the most perfect tree and looks beautiful in our home. I also want to thank the tree netter who managed to get said tree into my VW Polo , all 6 foot of it.

Wonderful service all round. Much appreciated.

User

I am so fortunate that this wonderful house and garden is practically on my doorstep. Whether for a coffee, a lovely meal, to wander around the gardens, which are always evolving, or to enjoy the house or the many high quality events, it's always great to visit. The owners make imaginative and sympathetic use of the buildings and it is a real home, not a museum.

User

Had a wonderful first visit to Doddington Hall yesterday. The gardens were beautiful and the hall just lovely. We ate at the restaurant, which was very well organised, with very friendly helpful staff. The food was wonderful. We looked around the shops and really enjoyed our day there. We will be back.

User

Fantastic place to visit. The gardens are beautifully kept and the parts of the house open to the public are of interest. And that's without mentioning the Farm Shop and Cafe and Restaurant.

User

Fantastic day out, plenty to see and do, cafés, restaurant, farm shop, beautiful stately home lost count of how many rooms we looked round, a long walk round the stunning gardens, all staff were so polite and welcoming, highly recommend a visit and we will definitely be returning again.

Awesome , fantastic Xmas Dinner in the restaurant with Sam Adams ..... Xmas has now officially arrived in the Adams’s house, thank you to all the lovely team who looked after us today x x

Attended this weekend for a wedding! Amazing venue and fantastic, attentive staff. Shakespeare cottage was perfect for our family! Very well equipped although some plastic cups/plates/bowls would be great for the small children.

Attended recently for my sister's beautiful June wedding. We stayed in the Shakespeare cottage for the weekend and it was amazing! So relaxing and enjoyable! Highly recommend!

After delivering wedding cupcakes we went into the farm shop on site and i have to say ive just had the best bacon ive ever eaten and i will be back next week for some more

User

Absolutely loved the gardens with cherry blossom and magnolia in bloom. Fabulous farm shop and tasty food in the café!

User

Visited for a works Christmas party last night. The tables were set out beautifully. The food was good and no long waits at the bar.

I would like to point out the etiquette on clearing tables though. Our waitresses started clearing plates away whilst others on the table were still eating.

My friend even had to grab her drink because the waitress was about to take the glass with another mouthful of wine in it.

It wouldn’t deter me from revisiting but I did expect better from such a grand place.

User

Our son Jon married Laura this weekend. The weekend was fantastic, my only criticism is to offer tea & coffee as well as alcoholic drinks. This was the only issue we had on the day. But want to thank you all for a brilliant day.

User

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Doddington Hall and Gardens last weekend. Fascinating, and we loved the fact it is still a home and renovations are a work in progress. Only disappointment was that both cafe's had run out of scones - so no afternoon cream tea for us as planned!

User

My husband & I decided to visit after my son told us about it. He had gone on a day that the house & gardens were closed but did visit the shops & grounds surrounding with his girlfriend & said how lovely it was.

We called on a Sunday when everything was open.

First & foremost I'd like to say what lovely volunteers you have there, funny & informative, we also got to hear Norman play the pianos, beautiful 😊A nice added extra. Thank you for opening your home to the public. You have some fabulous history to share. Walking the grounds was lovely. I love taking very amateurish pics & you have some amazing plants & trees to photograph.

We took a stroll through the shops you have & bought some lovely items from the deli.

A lovely local attraction well worth a visit.

User

Went on Thursday during a visit to Lincoln and stopped for lunch here. The staff serving behind the till were miserable, the queue at 12 o'clock was ridiculous, it was like queuing for school dinners but with miserable dinner ladies. There are much better ways of running lunch service without that. The fish and chips when they came were certainly NOT worth £13 each...... The batter was over cooked and 10 hand cut chips .....not worth the money. The lady I went with was not impressed either.... Won't be going back in a hurry to this restaurant when there are much nicer and friendlier ones around.

User

We made our annual trip to Doddington Hall today and left empty handed after been told no dogs in the yard. Every year I've been allowed to carry my dog in my arms as we looked around the Bauble Barn. Very disappointed as she is only a small miniature dachshund and is no trouble. We shall be visiting elsewhere next year!!

User

We had a lovely day out with the grand kiddies until the end. We had promised them an ice Lolly/ cream only to find the shop didn't do any. They weren't happy bunnies at all.😢Please get some ice lollies or ice creams for children. U r missing out on a big bit of business there. 😊

User

We had a friendship group birthday go for afternoon tea and 2 members of the group chose the vegetarian option. However one of those ladies was a true vegetarian but got offered tuna sandwiches as part of her tea which upset her a lot. She is quite shy and quiet and didnt want to make a fuss. I also struggled to get a required upon booking deposit paid of £5 a head because either the card machine wasnt working or no one on shift in the restaurant was trained to operate the said machine. After 4 attempts I managed to pay it 30 minutes before the meal whilst I was at work which was difficult to coordinate into my day. I would have not worried had I not already collected from each lady her deposit. Although good reports came back from the tea it was disappointing with these small niggles that made it stressful.

User

Mum and I came over today as we have heard great things about the bauble barn, well don't know what the fuss was about, baskets of over priced and many damaged Christmas decorations.

The home shop was lovely and could of spent a small fortune

User

Lovely house with lots of history and great tour guides provided lots of information. Wasn't happy with the service at the cafe. Yes it was Easter weekend and it was very busy so could only find a table eventually outside and it was cold. Hot drinks served in cold glasses that the drinks were luke warm so has to drink quick. Couldn't get served with panini's until we found a table. Paid for drinks, cake and panini's. Had receipt to go back and get panini's toasted only to be asked to queue up again so had a long wait in the queue. Won't be visiting again. Very expensive visit.

User

I was very disappointed with the recent Wonderland event which I brought my family to this weekend. At £31.50 for entrance I expected more than 6 rooms to look at most of which were roped off and had such stiff rules that the 3 children became bored very quickly

They even got told not to touch the fake snow in the flamingo room when all they were doing was sitting down for a photo to be taken under parental supervision. The youngest child who Is 4 has cerebral palsy and epilepsy and there was nothing tactile for him to interact with. We did enjoy walking around the gardens but yet again found a lot of areas we were unable to access. Compared to Chatsworth at Christmas which we also recently visited we were extremely disappointed Chatsworth had many rooms that were not roped off and which had interactive areas for the children. The gardens were fully accessible and there were no stiff rules about touching things. I'm sorry Doddington but given the choice Chatsworth will be our winner every time and I will be very surprised if we visit as a family again.

User

Had lunch with my hubby today in the Bike Cafe

We waited a long time only to be given cold lattes and cold panini

Will not be rushing back

Even though they were busy quality should still be as good

User

Came with friends from London who were disabled. It was the Saturday before Easter Sunday. Paid entrance fee and on walking to house was told only gardens were open. ( should have been told before we bought tickets.). Not much good as it was freezing cold and our friends were unable to walk around. Asked if we could pay extra and save the trip for the following day when house would be open, but was told no. Left after ten minutes. Won't bother again.

User

Went today to get a Christmas tree. There wasn't much selection and what was there were very poor quality. We asked if they would be bringing in any more soon and were told not until the stock was gone. The guy we asked was helpful and did speak to his employees for a long time about it but I am not happy with the decision. We get our Christmas trees from here every single year and this is the first time we have been so disappointed

User

Visited the Christmas wonderland today with my 2 children (Age 2 and 7 months) and my sister and teenage nephews. We paid at the gatehouse and entered the house, the young lady on the door advised the pushchair could not be taken upstairs but we were welcome to leave it near the door once we had finished on the ground floor as my baby was fast asleep. We walked past her and were met by an older lady who told us point blank pushchairs weren’t allowed, we said my little boy was asleep and the previous lady had said we could go round the bottom floor, first of all she said no they aren’t allowed and then she said ‘but you can leave your baby just over there if he’s asleep’ I just refused that offer. I can’t believe anyone would happily leave their 7 month old baby fast asleep parked up with strangers and wander off?! So, we declined that and she then told us in a fairly pompous and rude manner ‘well you can take your pushchair but you’ll have to say ‘excuse me’ to people’ (thanks for pointing that out, I usually just run people over with it)

We just said we’d leave and get a refund, by this point any excitement or enthusiasm for seeing the house had totally disappeared - so we made our way back out the entrance and went to get a refund.

They advised us in the shop (couldn’t get a refund in the gatehouse as the poor lady was so busy) that yes, pushchairs aren’t allowed in the hall so you need to leave them at the door, with or without child.

It would perhaps be a good idea to state this, either online (I’ve checked and it says you can take them round the ground floor) or as you are queuing to get in. It would have saved a lot of time and effort as I’d have taken a sling and quite happily gone round.

Sign or not, the lady just inside the entrance needs customer service training ASAP!

User

I Was very disappointed today (as was my daughter) after visiting to pyo pumpkin, expected some activities & games (couple of hours worth) and was nothing other than walk into a small field to choose a pumpkin that had already been picked! Was there a total of 20mins! After driving from near Market Rasen, was a waste of time and shall not be returning next year!

User

Recommend that you don't go to the gardens in april / may. Asked the receptionist if there was plenty to see in the garden, she said that there was so i paid £28 for 4 of us. There were plenty of weeds - poorly kept gardens, lots of dead daffs and one wonderful flowering cherry tree.

Honestly there are more blooms, species and intrest in my local park - and it's much better kept.

What a shame after a wonderful day in Lincoln the previous day

User

Doddington Hall Restaurant.

Service great. Surroundings beautiful.

Starters were delicious, and well portioned. Roast potatoes on all dishes were solid and over-cooked therefore not eaten.

The worst part about the meal was spending an hour swatting of large blue bottle flies away. At one point we counted over 6 flies on our table, including in our food and on the vegetables in the middle of the table. I would like to add that we were eating inside. We were far from the only table to be having this problem.

Due to there being no air conditioning in the restaurant all of the windows had to be opened therefore the dining area of the restaurant was a hot bed of flies. The consistent swatting of bluebottle flies was enough to distract us from our meal and our conversation and ruined the meal for everyone including my mother who’s birthday we were celebrating.

My mothers 65th birthday meal was ruined and we had been looking forward to this for some time.

What a disappointment.

We complained about all issues a number of times and the waitress was polite and said there was nothing they could do.

No discount or other compensatory measure was offered for the over cooked meals which were not eaten or for the disgusting flies which plagued our entire meal. At a minimum a manager did not even visit our table to apologise for the discomfort.

Would not recommend to anyone that doesn’t want to spend their meal swatting flies from their food and off their family.

Had lunch with my hubby today in the Bike Cafe

We waited a long time only to be given cold lattes and cold panini

Will not be rushing back

Even though they were busy quality should still be as good

Came with friends from London who were disabled. It was the Saturday before Easter Sunday. Paid entrance fee and on walking to house was told only gardens were open. ( should have been told before we bought tickets.). Not much good as it was freezing cold and our friends were unable to walk around. Asked if we could pay extra and save the trip for the following day when house would be open, but was told no. Left after ten minutes. Won't bother again.
