About East Carlton Country Park

This ia a "LIKE" page for you all to see what is happening at the park and for you to share with your family and friends.

East Carlton Country Park Description

East Carlton Countryside Park is situated on the edge of the beautiful Welland Valley. The Heritage Centre in the converted coach house and stables houses a display featuring the history of Corby and the development of the iron and steel industry in the town.

The cafe is open all year and offers light meals, hot and cold drinks and ice cream.

The first floor of the old coach house has a number of craft workshops where you can watch the individual craftsmen practise their skills.

There are country walks throughout the park, through fine mature woodland and grasslands. You can see a varied habitat and a great variety of wildlife throughout the year.

The Hall is unfortunately not open to the public but can be viewed from the park. The present hall, built in 1863 on the site of a previous hall, is thought to be the third hall on this site. Like all old buildings, it does have a ghost who has on occasions been known to visit the old coach house.

Perfect for dog walking. Love the views and the shaded woodland. Always friendly at the cafe and love looking around the woodland shop. Only improvement would be if the cafe were open longer hours in the summer as i prefer to walk dog later in hot weather and feel like i miss out if i dont get tea and cake!

One of the best country parks I have been to, awesome place with lots to explore and some really beautiful nature to see.

User

Love bringing my son here, the park is amazing and the cafe is very good with lovely staff

User

I've lived in the area 15 years and am embarrassed to say that today was the first time I'd visited. I can only speak as a recent new puppy owner (no kids). There are plenty of well kept paths. Lots of bins and views of very pretty countryside. Our walk took us a very safe 3 miles meeting up with lots of well behaved dogs and their owners, many off lead.

There is a cafe on site and toilets. Busy on a Monday but still lots of parking. Expect it'd be mobbed on fine weekends.

Congratulations Corby Borough Council for maintaining a fine facility.

I dont usually do this sort of thing but felt compelled to put a review of my gorgeous lunch I had today in the cafe.

Thai chicken freshly baked pastie....soooo yummy!, I was told it was part of their new range, well worth a visit just for this pastie!

looking forward to my next lunch :D

I always take my dog for walks in this lovely park, beautiful scenery, the park is always clean and tidy and well kept. I've taken my granddaughter into the newly refurbished play area and she was thrilled to play there. nice and clean and lots to do, we then went for a snack and a drink in the little cafe. a few years back we attended the halloween day which was thoroghly enjoyed by the little ones, will try to get to this years too. they also have a great day each year with steam engines, bikes and vintage cars, a military re-enactment too, in august, brilliant days. worth a visit in anyone's book !

User

Great set up. Loads of parking. Good range of food in the cafe and the portions are decent. Love the shop. Gifts are reasonably priced. The walk around the park was about right for a two year old and we could use the buggy as well. Toilet facilities were clean. Playground had lots of equipment for a variety of ages. You could easily spend a few hours here.

Our first visit to the park today. Such a beautiful park and loved The Perfect Flower nature walk. The cafe and food options were very good and value for money. We appreciate it was a busy day, but every bin was full to overflowing with rubbish as were every dog poo bin, surrounded by wasps which could be very dangerous. Would like to see these emptied frequently.

East Carlton is a great open space to spend quality time with your family and friends. It has a stupendous view from the top of the ridge across open countryside. There is good mature woodland to explore and a shallow pond. There are some shops in the old stable block and a small cafe. The recently refreshed playground is great for small children. The park is a regular spot for dog walkers.

User

We had a lovely day at the park yesterday, and the children were pleasantly surprised to find some Pokemon in the woods! Not the game but some fabulous wood carvings! Well done the country park team.

My only gripe was that one of my party is a wheelchair user, and there was no harness in the swing and the roundabout specific for wheelchair users was stuck! Apart from that, lovely ¤śŖ

User

Popped into the shop today to get a Christmas hamper as an xmas present. They make them to order, so you can get exactly what you want in them. Great service, lovely team.

User

Park and walks are great, however, the cafe and those staffing it are a complete joke! They only had a limited menu, the lady in the back preparing the food was microwaving chips ’┐Į and the prices were ridiculous! I ordered a tuna and cucumber sandwich NO BUTTER, 1 packet of crisps, 1 salted caramel slice, 1 bottle of water and a can of Vimto. This came to a total of ┬Ż10.70! Luckily I decided to help myself to my receipt as no one was going to give it to me and I noticed she charged me for 2 sandwiches at ┬Ż3 each!!! ┬Ż1.70 for a triangle not slice of salted caramel shortbread and ┬Ż1.25 for a small bottle of water!!! They've clearly cottoned on to the fact there aren't any shops close by. When I pointed out that I had been charged twice the attitude filled blond behind the counter tried to tell me I had ordered two. Hey we all mis hear things at times so there was no issues. When I explained that I had only ordered 1 sandwich the lady proceeded to very sarcastically tell me she would refund me my money. Once she had figured out what she owed me and failed, with the help of her colleague I got my money back. I then waited 15 minutes for 2 pieces of brown bread WITH BUTTER to be slapped together with a bit of tuna and cucumber in the middle. It was vile. This was such a shame as it is such a lovely venue with massive amounts of potential! Next time we will definitely be bringing a picnic even if it's snowing

User

Ok Just back from the ghost walk and would like to say a couple of things. The price has gone up from ┬Ż2 in 2015 to ┬Ż5 in 2017. Where's the money spent? Hired securiy. Lots. Every 10 or 20 yards along the walk with yellow high viz and radios. It's supposed to be a scary walk which is kind of spoilt when there's more security than ghouls. I used to love it and recommended to lots but it's no longer cheap, all rides are extra and the unnecessary security has spoilt the atmosphere. There'd be like 2 actors doing great trying to scare people while dressed up as zombies as three security in high viz watch on from 3 yards away. Ridiculous! I really hope the priorities are sorted for the future because it's generally a great event for Halloween and more fun than trick or treating. Less security please.

User

Feeling rather disappointed after our visit today. Brought the kids as the new park is suitable for all 4 of them only to find the only thing the older kids were interested in is no longer available. What has happened to the zip line?

User

The park is lovely but the cafe is rubbish! We ordered 3 cream teas that were advertised on the board outside. We paid for them only to be told we hadn't paid enough and then that they weren't doing them anymore! So we ordered lasagne and chips from the specials board. They weren't doing that either! So why advertise it then? By the time we had been served the queue was out into the park.

I'm afraid we won't be visiting the cafe again we'll be taking a picnic!

User

Out of date information and times meant an unnecessary visit here. Used to be a lovely place, looking shabby n noticed litter about.

User

Have loved visiting here for years - but husband has just come back from walking our dog and was not impressed by the cafe lady. The park we all know is a big dog friendly park but he went alone with the pooch as I was working. At the end of the walk went for a drink (Thursday 15 March). Went to the cafe door couldnŌĆÖt see any signs, stood at door trying to get womanŌĆÖs attention to ask - nothing. Nobody in the cafe so took pooch in with him. He didnŌĆÖt even make it to the counter before she rudely shooed him out say that the dog was not allowed in. Now how come she could spot the dog so quick but not a man standing st the door trying to get her attention. Like I say no one else was even in the cafe!! I think the policy on single dog walkers needs to be looked at as I for one would like a drink at the end of a lap..... just a method to help those who have gone alone - and not to be treated rudely just as there is a dog present!

Out of date information and times meant an unnecessary visit here. Used to be a lovely place, looking shabby n noticed litter about.

Best bacon and egg ’┐Į ’┐Į sandwich by far!!!! 5*.

User

Beautiful place to be, lovely walks and tree climbing with the kids, very colourful new play area only down side not enough room it sit with picnic blanket , inside the enclosed area X

Finish the day of home made cake a cupa and lollies for the kids , bonus all free unless you use the cafe X

Been coming here for many years and many more to come
