The ladies watching in amusement as Alex’s facial expressions take on the appearance of a werewolf going through a transformation. . . “I wasn’t doing much before ABS&C, certainly no gym work. I was doing a bit of running but nothing regular. . . I found out about ABS&C through another member (Ryan) who would prompt me on FB every time I moaned about how unfit I was. .... . The thing I like most about ABS&C is that it’s not a regular gym, (I hate meatheads). It's also very focused over all of the workouts. . . Also, the fact that there is a lot of miss information out there with regards to nutrition and workouts, so having coaches that are qualified and know what they’re doing means you don’t even have to think about what you’re doing. Just turn up and sweat! . . I’d recommend ABS&C to anyone because there are no fads, the results speak for themselves and it’s not like any other gym.”

Deadlifts. An awesome strength movement for the legs, core, and pretty much every muscle on the back of your body. Here Lucy demonstrates perfect technique driving her hips into the bar at the top of the move to ensure maximal glute engagement.

A bit of hands on coaching...
Sometimes it’s hard to visualise what’s going on with your upper back and posture. We often use a bit of video analysis (thank god for Smartphones), but often, all you need is a bit of adjustment from an experienced pair of hands.

We call this the “don’t look at me stretch”, but the important thing is that it gives the glutes a nice old stretch and helps mobilise the thoracic spine 🤸‍♀️

Deadbugs. A static core whilst the appendages move through range in a contralateral pattern. Engaging the deep core muscles is the priority here, coach Olly keeps an eye on Andy’s redundant arm before it marches off like a soldier.

As Alex clenched his fists in a move he’d recently learnt from a Celine Dion video, Gill just smiled politely and wondered why he wasn’t letting her get on with it by herself in the first place.

Renegade rows… so much more than a pulling exercise. The ability to keep the core rock solid far outweighs any bragging rights by lifting big dumbbells. Sometimes a foam roller and a bit of gravity are all that’s needed to keep you honest.
