Went in this restaurant on Wednesday evening, it had been recommended by friends at work and I was advised to book in advance as it is so popular!

I was slightly taken aback when we walked in to discover that we were the only ones in that evening.

Paul was very welcoming and as we chatted the phone kept ringing with bookings for other nights.

So pleased that we had the chance to chat with him though as we soon discovered a connection with him through my husbands family.

Dispite having lots to chat about the Maskrey family history the food was excellent and the wine was reasonably priced also.

We have decided that this would be a brilliant place to bring our whole family for a relaxed meal in an unrushed atmosphere!

Really looking forward to returning in the near future!

Went for my sisters birthday last night. Been a few times before and the steak is always amazing but thought I'd change things up and ordered the Chicken Bavarian. I wasn't disappointed - good portion and lovely sauce. Also the Thai Prawn starter was so nice, I could have ate a ton of them. Service as always excellent, a very enjoyable evening.

We returned for our annual visit this weekend and were not let down. The evening was very relaxed and friendly, we were not rushed at any point and the food was excellent as always, sorry I couldn't finish it all. We will be back, possibly sooner than next October. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

We had an excellent meal here a week ago and can't wait to go again. The food is great, the choice of food is brilliant and the relaxed atmosphere is wonderful. Couldn't have enjoyed it more.

Tonight was the first time that Alison and I lost our virginity at Encounters...... It was starter night... Unfortunately Alison and I are lightweights ( not to look at � ) and could only manage less than 1/2 of the evenings starters ☹ We will definitely be back for the rest.....It was great to go to a restaurant where ALL the members of staff were friendly and informative and made you feel most welcome......hope to see you soon...Thank you from Alison and myself

Second visir to Encounters, in such a relaxed family business with excellent food, well priced wine. Nothing too much effort and will certainly return with friends again. Thank you Freddie opps I mean Paul. See you again soon. Definitely recommend you try this restaurant.

My favourite restaurant, the venue of special occasions over many years, a meal here is always a treat. Just been to the pudding and proscecco evening with the girls. OMG, it was amazing, so many choices of pudding, all delicious. We ended up sharing most as everyone wanted to try as many as possible. If you like desserts, you need to do this, �

My "knit and natter" group went for our pre-Christmas meal there last night, 12 of us - our second time here. Wonderful food with many great choices. Service first class - so friendly and accommodating with adapting meals to ensure everyone has exactly what they want. Huge helpings and more if you ask! What also impressed me is that we had 12 different mains but they all came out together and were hot. No microwaving pre-cooked food here. My Secret Santa pressie disappeared somehow by the time we left and the restaurant owner gave me a bottle of his wine to compensate. He didn't have to do that - but was obviously as upset as all of us. Thank you for a great night.

Had such a fun evening here last night doing a murder mystery. Our waitress was lovely. Always smiling and never leaving the table too long - food and drink flowed well all evening. The manager couldn't have been more lovely and attentive. Such a great guy; making sure our evening was nothing but fun and enjoyable and keeping us laughing with his witty comments! The food was delicious (and enormous lol) and nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. I highly recommend a night here. Thank you

Had another great evening on Friday with another Murder Mystery at Encounters. The food was delicious, the sweet and sour veggie stir fry was fantastic but it didn't stop me drooling over all of the other food too (not literally of course). Well done and thank you to all of the staff for a lovely time. See you again soon😀

Had a wonderful lunch it was my first visit but definitely won’t be the last

Had a third visit to Eat this weekend taking our grown up son. Lovely​ menu, great choice from amazing fresh produce all made to order. Can't fault it except to say the portions are huge so be prepared. Vegetarian food always available for the veggie amongst us. Great as always and lovely to see Paul again. Great restaurant. Have voted it best restaurant for the year.

Great time at the Tarot Night, Prospero gave great reading! Lovely food and great service. We were amazed at the portions. Definitely will visit again and recommend to friends!

Excellent food, very good portions at reasonable prices complements to the chef. Super house wine couldn’t believe how good the price was. Paul our host was brilliant and most attentative. we will most certainly look forward to next time very soon.

Excellent food, fantastic staff, great atmosphere. We took our 8 year old to the puddings evening as an end of school year treat and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and taking the time to talk to him as well as us.

Eating out at Encounters is an experience I would most definitely recommend. I visited for the second time recently with friends. All 3 of us are totally blind, and we always receive first rate treatment every time we go. We like encounters because their menu is online, so we can read it on our iphones or talking computers before we go and decide what we want. Paul and Jane are always more than happy to read out the specials, and always welcome us with some of their lovely home made bread. There is always lots of choice on the menu too, and I've got to say that the Chicken Bavarian I had as a main course was out of this world. The lovely port and cream sauce had really soaked into the chicken, and it was absolutely full of flavour. The prices are very reasonable. The company is fantastic, and they even made a birthday cake as a surprise for my friend Jack, and took pictures for us. We are all very much looking forward to the starters evening on 3rd August.
