Wow! We’ve just been to the pirate day. What a fantastic place. Lovely staff. Well worth a visit.
We love this little museum, they always run events throughout school holidays and no matter how many times we've been my daughter still enjoys looking round the museum.
We have been each week since the beach has opened, an amazing day out, the beach is plenty big enough and lots of toys out. Staff very friendly and look after the venue brillantly. Awesome activities put on and love looking round the museum. All free of charge just dontations requested. Looking forward to visiting over the next few weeks.
Visited twice last week it was great - my son was able to help with the trains which he loved and the beach was great - will be back for mini beast week
Visited today for first time with 2 and 5 year old, really impressed!
Lots for kids to do and look for in each room. Each room had different theme and things to look at /talk about without going into too much detail with the younger ones. We really liked the room about iron works, Victorian kitchen and scullery, school room, archeology room.
Also tried the tea room, very sweet and v reasonable prices: not loads of choice but all freshly prepared with good quality ingredients.
Very friendly staff throughout. Crafts were fun. Kids loved the chance to peg their picture to the display wall. Liked the old railway posters, we have a few of this style. We are from Beeston so clearly need to go see other nice places in Ilkeston from these posters!
Very happy to give donation and will definitely return and recommend to friends.
We didn’t even do the beach yet!
Lovely, little museam, a gem in Ilkeston. Soooooo interesting and meaningful to the people who live and are interested in the history of the place.
The holiday experiences for the children are always extremly well presented and we always have a wonderful day. The fairy experience this time was amazing
Love this place so great that they have so many different activities during the holidays for the kids and most for free (or a very small cost!)
Looking forward to bringing my kids to the rest of the activities over the holidays!
Love it here, we visit every school holiday and take part in the treasure trail and crafts - the beach was fab this summer too and I can't wait for the gardens to be done. Free admission (remember to donate what you can), dressing up, enthusiastic staff and the best value tea rooms ever. Highly recommended!
I was only in the little tea room for a cuppa and sandwich. Everyone very friendly and excellent service. I recommend it to anyone in the vacinity to give it a try.
I took my nephew to an event called "the beach", he had a brilliant time playing in the sand, building with the large lego & jenga bricks. He particularly enjoyed playing connect 4 even, if he is a little too young to understand the rules of the game.
We ended our trip with a visit to the stable tearoom, which served really lovely refreshments. We will certainly be back.
Great little place. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. Took my niece yesterday for the 1st time. She loved looking around the museum , but really loved the fairy event which was on. Making her own fairy dust , fairy door, and meeting the unicorn. Fun filled day.
Great little place! Didn't realise how much goes on here until recently and now I can't get enough of the place with my children.
Fantastic place, lots to do with the children in the school holidays and very lovely helpful staff .
Fabulous little museum with great outreach events. We always look forward to the school holidays and a fun and interesting creative programme for my daughter and friends. Highly recommend this gem in the middle of Ilkeston, it brings the community together like no other local museum I've known and we enjoy all our adventures here (most recently the fantastic dinosaur!)
Brilliant Gem of a museum! Gorgeous building and well maintained and family friendly galleries. Friendly staff and it has a lovely little tearooms too!
