Located at 216 Church Road in Brighton & Hove etch. is a 12-table British tasting menu only restaurant by MasterChef: The Professionals winner Steven Edwards.

Located at 216 Church Road in Brighton & Hove etch. is a 12-table British tasting menu only restaurant by MasterChef: The Professionals winner Steven Edwards. Previously a bank etch. has a contemporary look with views of an open kitchen & bar, dark blue walls & modern art.

Open from Wednesday to Saturday for dinner and Thursday to Saturday lunch the philosophy behind etch. is to celebrate local and British produce using monthly changing tasting menus. Offing a choice of five, seven or nine courses dishes are created using two main ingredients to showcase the fantastic produce provided by our suppliers. Unusually no spice is used (not even pepper) and flavour is increased by reducing and enhancing ingredients to get a purity of taste.

etch. currently holds a Michelin Plate | 5 Good Food Guide | 3 AA Rosettes.

What a fantastic restaurant! We went for the 8 course menu and Bob & I went for the wine pairing. Also Dougie who booked managed to get us into the private dining area which felt a bit special. Steven was so friendly and spent quite a bit of time with us just chatting or talking us through each course as they arrived. The food was stunning - we had the new December menu - stand out courses for me were the marmite brioche, pork/parsnip, scallop/cuttlefish, celeriac/truffle, duck/sprout - the sprouts did split the table but I loved them and got bonus sprouts as a resultšŸ˜‹But to be clear all the courses were lush - there was nothing we didn't really enjoy. The wine pairing worked well too and our waiter (who was hilarious) was so generous with the portions I struggled to keep up....Bob didn't have that problem! 64 Degrees is my all time favourite restaurant in Brighton & Hove (I live in Hove) and this is the first restaurant I have eaten in that I have ever thought was as good and as a fine dining experience is......betteršŸ˜³ We will definitely be back! ps It was really nice to meet George toošŸ˜Š

We visited etch. last night (a busy Saturday) and from start to finish, the whole experience was incredible. We received a warm welcome, the staff were knowledgeable and pleasant and the food - we had the eight course menu - was beautifully cooked and presented and the flavours were to die for! As each course arrived, it was explained by members of the team including Steven Edwards, who was happy to chat to us.

Thank you so much Steven Edwards and crew for an unforgettable evening. This was our second visit and we will be back soon. Keep doing what youā€™re doing please - it works!

We have just had an incredible evening tonight at Etch. Every plate was faultless, delicious, cleverly presented and outstanding! We thought, this is now Brighton & Hoveā€™s number 1 restaurant. Nice touches were Steven serving some of the plates, the open (very quiet) kitchen, every serving plate was of a different design and look, a menu to follow what was coming next on the courses, great decoration, staff members who knew their stuff about the food, full descriptions given of every course, all staff smartly presented and super friendly. This is a really special place. An ideal place for a romantic meal for two or with a group of friends. Congratulations Steven and team, you deserve all the great reviews and awards. Thank you.

We celebrated our Golden Wedding Anniversary at Etch on 9th March. Fantastic welcome, ambience, menu, service, food was exceptional and a delight to watch the pass at work. As for the loo! I have ordered a heated seat for home! We will return a.s.a.p. Thank you all for a very memorable evening.

The perfect way to spend our anniversary last night. Each dish was just beautiful and you even managed to convince a marmite hater that a marmite bread roll can still be delicious! I think my favourite course was the 'cherry and almond'. Thanks again, we'll be back :-)

I had to go for the 9 courses with wine and I was not disappointed all the courses were delicious but that Chickenļæ½Kale dish was unbelievableļæ½. @etchfood has everything a perfect atmosphere, knowledgable staff, fantastic local concept and of course amazing food. I took my wife out for a long overdue date night at etch. last night, and it was certainly worth the wait!



With a seasonal tasting menu of perfectly balanced dishes using predominantly local produce from local suppliers, this is somewhere you could visit every month of the year and never have the same experience, which is an exciting prospect and one I am looking forward to repeating soon!

Excellent restaurant in darkest Hove. Unusually you choose the size of your menu as opposed to the content. Think fusion of bistro and Tapas. They are excellent at meeting dietary requirements if you let them know. Recommended.

Came here for my 21st birthday and it was absolutely incredible! From the delicious food through to the service from all the staff, I couldn't fault it. First experience of fine dining and the staff make you feel so comfortable. Steven Edwards also came up to me after my meals to wish me a happy birthday which was lovely. Definitely beneficial if you get the wine pairing because their wines are fantastic. Will be coming back 100%
