Want to make a difference in 2016? Why not choose to 'buy social'? Not only are you supporting small, independent business but you are also supporting us to support others. EVE Trades social businesses provide you with a range of services whilst enabling vulnerable and unemployed people to become more independent and move closer to the workplace.
We can help you with gardening, garden design and landscaping; small building works and painting and decorating. We sell bikes, vinyl, hand made wooden gifts and gorgeous coffee and cakes!
Take a trip to our website for more information and don't forget that every purchase you make supports vulnerable people on a pathway to independence. http://ow.ly/WB9Cq

Good morning Facebook People! We need your help! The Bike Club is our bike recycling project that supports the most marginalised people into first steps learning, volunteering and ultimately employment. Clients coming to the Bike Club often have no other contact with people during the week. We pay all lunch and travel expenses as we believe none of our clients should be out of pocket. Quite often the lunch we provide is the only decent meal that clients will eat.
We hav...e applied for some funding to continue this fantastic project through the RBS Skills and Opportunities Fund and I'm pleased to say we have been shortlisted. The next stage is the public vote and this is where you come in! Please click on the link to vote for the Bike Club. If you do, you could be supporting over 200 people over the next year to progress on a pathway to independence. Please share this post with your friends and family and encourage them to vote too. Many thanks! We'll keep you posted http://ow.ly/U7nxt

Following feedback, a training session on Asperger's Awareness has been delivered to all of the Workshop and Estate Management staff by Heidi Keeling, Lead Specialist Speech & Language Therapist at the Nottingham City Asperger Service based at Highbury Hospital. The training was very well received by all members of the team and will help us to work more effectively with our learners and volunteers who may have a diagnosis of Aspergers or autism. Thanks Heidi!

Where else would you get this level of customer service? At Woodthorpe Barista, an elderly lady came in very upset as she had lost her dog. She had only had the dog a couple of weeks and was devastated. Staff from Barista rallied together and went to look for the missing dog. They found her safe and well and returned her to her happy owner, before going back to work and carrying on as normal (after washing their hands of course!). The lady was so grateful she brought in a box of chocolates for the team. Can you imagine anyone from Costa or Starbucks doing this? Me neither!

Team meeting time at the Workshop! Note the cups of tea....:-)

Thank you to Kay McKenzie from Futures, who invited us to their Information Market Place evening on Monday. The event was aimed at Colleges / Post 16 Provision / Training Providers and Support Agencies.
The Futures Transition team are involved with a new “Family Leadership Project” and are guiding young people through the transition of leaving school. They aim to help parents, school leavers and teachers gain more information and knowledge on colleges (and support agencies for people with a disability or additional needs), to assist them with their options and decision making in the future.
