went here tonight around 6ish for my son's 3rd birthday. The food was amazing, came out all together and hot, carvery was lovely. Your staff were friendly, well mannered and smiley. The young girl who cleared our table was very friendly and very attentive, my son couldnt stop smiling and waving.at her ^_^ would recommend and will come back. thank you for our meals :) x

What a great evening we had at the Hobby Horse celebrating my husband's 60th birthday. I booked for a group of about 30 people. From the outset the customer service we received was great. We were offered the balcony area upstairs which was perfect. Throughout the entire evening we were very well looked after and all the staff were very friendly and efficient. Being a large group on a Saturday evening we wondered as to whether we would all manage to get our food together. We needn't have worried. Having spoken to Jack ,and pre ordering our food, we all got our meals together and everything was perfect. We all had a lovely time and would not hesitate to book again. Thank you to all of the staff. Keep up the good work .

We visited on Sunday 4th February, we walked in and pretty much got a table straight away for 7 people. Our Mum somehow managed flush her carvery ticket down the loo and Jake was marvellous, very professional. He sorted us put with another ticket with no questions asked. The food was amazing, we will definitely be back when in the Leicester area. Thank you x

User

Quite funny reading some of the reviews on here, guys if you want a 5 star chef per table then pay the money. This is a low standard family pub which to be fair is really good, staff are on their feet for hours yet will try and help. Food is great but only ever had the carvery.

My only bad point is the waiting line for it haha horrible to see the food when waiting but it is what it is.

Also waiting time for a table not that bad, I would say to people don’t go at silly times when families go it’s just busy so yes you may be given a buzzer and yes you might have to stand at the bar and treat your self to a nice beer or wine...... overall I love the place

User

My 1st visit with my family this evening. I couldn't fault anything. Food was perfect, staff polite, clean throughout and service was lovely. Young lady who saw us in was fab too. Our waiter was lovely too can't remember his name but had glasses and we was in family area. Josh B who took our order was patient as i could not decide on cake to have, smiling, chatty and polite. Also the young girl with glasses serving with him was pleasant. Really enjoyed by all 4 of us. Top work guys and girls ÔŅĹ

I have attended the child's activity morning several times on a Thursday morning. For £1.50 per child you get so much for your money!!

There is juice and a snack per child as well as lots of activities for them to try out. The staff are always polite, friendly and helpful. They always welcome new ideas and even bring in things in from home, for our children to use on special occasions.

Plus us adults get unlimited tea/coffee and toast for 2 quid and time to have a good natter to friends.

Highly recommended.

User

I came here tonight for dinner and 40th birthday 20 people . Cant fault it one little bit the food was hot staff polite and we all ate at the same time . Brill place to eat

User

Highly recommend the ‚Äútots Thursdays‚ÄĚ ema (sorry if spelt wrong) the lady who runs it is very nice and fab with the kids and always put on enough crafts/activities to keep the little ones busy.

User

Excellent customer services received from a wonderful member of staff called Brenda. All members of our party had got their roast dinners, I'd sat with my youngest boys. Once others returned, the line was very long. Thank you to Brenda for making it where I could still eat just as others had finished their dinners instead of still waiting in the line to be served. Will certainly come again. A very big thank you Brenda from Karen and party ÔŅĹ

User

Absolutely love this place, Me and my husband visit here a few times a week. The staff are so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble, staff always go out there way to have a chat and make sure you are happy with everything. Also they do the most amazing roast potatoes ÔŅĹ

User

15 of us ate at hobby horse last night for my sisters birthday and food only took 10 mins to arrive after we ordered, it all came out together, thanks to super Sam. It was lovely, hot and presented beautifully, all the staff were friendly and helpful as always. Perfect evening

User

Lovely meal for mothers day only waited around 10 minutes for table carvery very busy and cued for around 5 minutes but food was excellent manager had the time to stop and chat to us wishing us a happy mothers day great afternoon

User

I took my mum here on the way past having visited friends in Leicester. The place was clean and the staff were all very helpful and had smiles on their faces. It‚Äôs dverything you expect from a budget gastropub but clean and the food was really good. I don‚Äôt understand some of the reviews on here. If you need a restaurant that sells Gordon Ramsay quality grub and a place that can find you a vacant table even on Mother‚Äôs Day then 5is isn‚Äôt the place for you. It‚Äôs a family gastropub in a lovely setting with nice food and not too expensive. And the size of the cakes on offer will blow your tiny minds! ūüėÄ

User

I love coming here, foods always delicious & very reasonably priced. Although we pay extra for the pigs in blankets & extra Yorkshire, this is never given over easily & we always have to ask (even though the ticket with the extras has been handed over) Anyway I would put roasted butternut squash or baby corn as my veg choice

User

So today I went and tried it again after last experience being crap... so the food today was pretty good enjoyed it... staff brilliant apart from the lady manager (not Gary) found a nail in CHILDRENS play area I found her as she was the only member of staff that wasn’t busy I showed her the nail and she said that she can assure that it’s not from here... that isn’t the point lady it was facing point up in the children’s area u just binned it and didn’t check the rest of the area or anything...

User

Service was not good... went at 6.45pm and only had 1 meat available and huge queues. I don't object to queuing but to then have rude staff at the end isn't acceptable.... easy just to offer money back than actually engage in customer services and try to resolve the situation.....

User

I want to start by saying that in the past we have had some nice meals at the Hobby Horse. However this time, I left feeling very disappointed. As the Carvery had finished by the time we arrived, which was not a problem, we looked on the menu, saw the beef casserole and thought that would be a good alternative. Man, were we wrong! I have seen more beef in a vegetarian dish! 3 very small slithers of beef, which would equate to less than a quarter of what I would consider an average slice of meet. Very disappointing for a dish labelled as a BEEF CASSEROLE! This was also the same in both of our meals. When approached a very polite member of staff addressed the complaint with the kitchen. Another member of staff then returned with the plate and stated that unfortunately this was the portion size and nothing could be done as the dish came pre packed and that was it! He then went on to explain that this was similar in some of the other menu choices. In hindsight, we should have sent the meal back and asked to change our meal or even for a refund. We left this evening very disappointed and will not be returning.

User

This is the most disgusting place I ever visited in my life. First of all, we ordered our food at 7.38pm and didn’t receive our food until 8.37pm (1 hour late) , all the kids was starving. Other customers started arriving after us but yet received their food before us.. 2nd, Donna the manager was utterly rude, didn’t like her attitude and the tone of voice she used when we brought few Home truths up to her. Her management skills are terrible, she didn’t know how to handle the situation and this was done in front of everyone. 3rd, the food was uncooked , the chips wasn’t cooked properly causing my 3 year old nephew vomiting at the end of the night. ;the tried to blame he was running around when he wasn’t.. kids menu, was a Chicago town microwave pizza that you get from Iceland and all the food was processed? The bar staff was appalling as they served someone else clearly after seeing my sister and brother standing there. After my nephew vomiting on the floor my first instance was to clean my nephew not the bloody floor that one staff said for me to clean. I wouldn’t be going there again .. disgusting. Management skills really need to change and so should kids menu.

Peace of advice..? Don’t rush to cook food.

User

Poor service...yet again. Plenty of staff milling about seemingly with nothing to do,yet meanwhile the queue for ordering food & drink is building. When one chap asked a young lad if anyone was serving his reply was "dunno I'm on my break"...a girl then came to serve & had to put up with everyone's moans! She was apologetic, but it was her i felt sorry for. When our desserts came my partner informed the lad that they weren't what we ordered,he just left them on the table & rudely answered "yes they are" & walked off! Que me having to rejoin the ever growing line of people to get our correct desserts!! Appalling customer service.
