... ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Yesterday saw an awesome morning of competing here at Fit Missions with our in-house throw down.
⠀ ⠀ Each athlete faced 3 tough WODS. Kicking it off and taking inspiration from The CrossFit Games the first WOD consisted of a mini cyclocross, with some running and double unders thrown in for good measure.
⠀ ⠀ Following on to WOD 2, a weightlifting complex, which saw Claire Gregory lifting a massive 70kg 💪🏼
⠀ ⠀ WOD 3 was a variation off max cal rows and burpees over the rower, which I think most will agree should NEVER be repeated..... {sorry not sorry} 😬
⠀ ⠀ After a quick tally up of the scoreboard the finalists took to the floor in male and female categories.
For the males, a 21,15,9 combination of thrusters, pull ups, T2B and push ups. The overall winner - John Taylor
⠀ ⠀ ⠀ The female final was without doubt the highlight of the morning.
For the girls, a combination of 21,15,9 thrusters, heavy kettlebell swings, sit ups and push ups, saw Lucy Evans pip it to the post.
⠀ The biggest cheers followed soon after, watching Ava Holden finish off the workout with every single member/spectator on the gym floor encouraging her on, whilst she was swinging practically her own body weight around!


The emotion in those final few moments just goes to show how tight our CrossFit community is, always finishing together and always giving the last person the biggest cheer.
⠀ ⠀ A huge well done to each and every one of you and thank you for your continued support, without your help on the day these comps couldn’t run as smoothly as they do.

S C A L E T H E F O R T ⠀ ⠀... ⠀ Last weekend saw 7 of our athletes compete at CrossFit Iron Fort For the majority this was their first competition outside the gym. Kicking off the weekend on Saturday were Team Foxy, made up of our very own Joe Oxley and Louisa Fotherby. Taking 2 heat wins they finished a respectable 11th from 16. ⠀ ⠀ Sunday was the turn of Fit Missions very own power couple Ryan and Di Fitzsimons AKA ‘Squatalot’ Boy Racer Tim Horton and Julie Shackleton AKA ‘Almost too Fit to Quit’ and our very own CrossFit Kelly comp partner Kenny AKA ‘The Plankers’* There was blood, sweat and tears on the gym floor, but fantastic performances from all 3 teams rewarded them top 5 finishes. ⠀ ⠀

Ruth came to us to get a little stronger and fitter and it quickly became clear that she’s fallen in love with CrossFit, she literally doesn’t miss a day. 💪🏼 ⠀
In the classes she is so attentive and although doesn’t necessarily lift the biggest weights, makes sure her technique is spot on every single session. Watching her compete at Inferno Racing this summer was really great to see, and she has progressed so much here at Fit Missions. A super member to have in classes and as part of our gym and CrossFit community! ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀

I joined Fit Missions because I wanted to try something new, the regular gym wasn’t really doing anything for me & it always felt like a chore! Now I’m like a different person - gutted if I have to miss a class. ⠀
I love how I’m constantly learning and pushing myself, even if it means crying over broken nail along the way! I even did a comp which I never thought I would do in a million years. ⠀

Over the weekend we co-hosted our first ever Yoga Day Retreat in collaboration with Align-Body and Mind The beautiful surroundings of Thornbridge Hall & Gardens - RHS Partner Garden were our backdrop for the day. A day packed with yoga, meditation walks and delicious vegan food courtesy of Peak District Deli and tasty treats from the Fit Missions kitchen. ⠀ ⠀ I N F E R N O ⠀R A C I N G ⠀ This weekend 7 teams from Fit Missions made their way to the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield for Inferno Racing... For some it was their first competition outside of Bakewell and the level of competition was higher than our athletes are used to. ⠀ ⠀
Day 1, and the boys opened proceedings, battling it out against CrossFit Buxton in the next lane, this becoming the theme of the weekend. I think most will agree WOD 1 was a killer start to the weekend! Next came the girls, with Claire hitting a matching PB of 70kg in the 3RM, S2OH. Great effort. 💪🏼 This wasn’t the only PB of the weekend, with coach Stew hitting 100kg for 3 in the 3RM, S2OH. A great first day for all our teams, all sitting in good positions going into day 2. The day however took a dramatic end, with coach Tom pulling his hamstring whilst smashing a 200m sprint in the final WOD. This left Stew looking for a replacement teammate to finish the weekend......⠀ ⠀
Day 2, and thankfully Danny Redfern stepped in as Toms replacement and Stew was able to carry on. The day began with the challenge of the obstacle course, and for the majority it was something they’ve never experienced or trained for, which rattled a few nerves. Our athletes battled through the day and work hard for their final positions. ⬇️ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Tom & Stew - 10th/55 Joe & John - 20th/55 Luke & Adam - 33rd/55 ⠀ ⠀ Claire & Molly - 30th/55 Emma & Ruth - 34th/55 ⠀ ⠀ Dom & Tim - 6th/16 {masters} Sara & Julie - 4th/7 {masters} ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Huge thanks to everyone who came along to show their support. Walking into this gym was one of the best things I've done. The team are friendly, supportive, motivating and inspire you to push yourself to the next level of fitness. Workouts are never the same day to day and are always catered to ability. You learn some amazing new skills. My generally physical and mental wellbeing has improved vastly and I now feel part of a valuable team! Highly recommend. Much better then your conventional gym. Started here back end of last year after having a good few months off training and was made to feel very welcome! Brilliant range of classes from spinning, boxing, yoga, HIIT and weights all are which are most enjoyable! The team are all friendly and knowlegable and know how to get the best from individuals without making them feel intimidated or pressured. Wide range of equipment and clean facilities. This gym is an enjoyable experience and definaltly doesnt feel like a chaw. Plus the smoothies are fab! ��

Love this place!!! only been training here for just over 2 weeks and I can honestly say it's the best gym I've been to. Tom, Lucy, Stew and the rest of the team are so knowledgeable, friendly and always happy to help. The fit mission class and fm30 hiit classes are always different and push you whilst being fun at the same time. If you're in Bakewell and in to fitness then this is the place to go!

Love the training style- really new and personally challenging, really pushes me to my limits and allows me to aim constantly higher and track my progress with BoxMate. The training team are so supportive and encouraging & OMG I’m weight lifting � and loving it. Seeing results and the great thing is it’s affordable and there are so many classes to choose from that I can go everyday & even sometimes twice a day. Join you won’t regret it!

I’d been doing CrossFit at another gym for a while and was ready for a change of scene when I found Fit Missions, I haven’t looked back since. The trainers are friendly and approachable yet always push you to work your hardest. I’ve improved my technique since coming here with their encouragement and have finally overcome my fear of box jumps! Having just competed in my first in-house competition I can’t wait for the next one! I take part in a variety of classes, CrossFit, Spin, Hiit and Fight Club, all are great fun and I can recommend them to all ages and abilities- everything is scalable. I've been coming to this gym for almost a year and it's the best gym I've ever been to. The classes are always fun, varied and give you a good workout! The atmosphere at the gym is always happy, friendly and very supportive! The staff always give you help and encouragement when you need it! The smoothies and snacks are also a bonus. :)

I started going to this gym in June 2017, I do PT with Stewart and it's the best decision I ever made. Weighing in at 9st 5. I lost nearly 2 stone in 3 months, also I lost 10cm all around my body (mainly on my chest and belly!) I feel like a whole new person! This is by far the best gym I have ever been to! Everyone is so pumped to see other people achieve! And their in house food is just gorgeous! Thank you FITMISSIONS team for the best gym experience ever! ....even after saying I won't join classes I'll see you at the next yoga class! �

I love going to the gym in the morning for the HIIT class and I have just started going in the evening classes as well. I cant wait to do more!! I never thought I would say this about a gym but I'm getting addicted to fit:missions!!

For anyone who wants to have fun and go to the gym this is the place. They give you a real boost when you are thinking that you are un able and if you can't do it they give you the confidence and believe in you even when you don't believe in yourself. Take it from me when I first started I couldn't do anything and now I just want to do more!!

I joined at 15 with my Mum, this was because I wanted to be a soldier when I started training it spurred me on to go for the PARAs and to be a better version of me. I have fallen in love with Crossfit.

I have been a member at Fit Missions for almost one year and have never enjoyed being part of a gym so much. The difference between a normal gym routine and the variety and challenges provided at Fit Missions is very unique. Instead of working alone you become part of a team that will help and encourage you to reach your goals, whilst having a great time in the process. I did the free trail at Fit Missions in January and I have never looked back! The coaches are great and take you through step by step each movement and workout. There is a great range of classes to chose from and the atmosphere at the gym is amazing. Everyone at the gym is super friendly and supportive especially during the team workouts!

Great place to workout whatever your goal is. Workouts suited to a wide range of ages and abilities and there is always a fun and friendly atmosphere. They have great facilities and equipment and serve up brilliant smoothies and food to accompany your workout.

Fit missions is the best gym I have been to. I hadn’t trained for about 5 years and my son wanted to join but as he was only 15 so I needed to join with him. Well I have become more addicted to it than he is and am loving what training has done to my life! I have rekindled friendships since joining and since the detox in January my body and training has changed enormously. Thank you fit missions you have really changed my life

By far the best gym I've ever been to! I've been training here for a few months now, I started as a complete beginner and I've definitely seen an improvement in my strength and fitness. The trainers are all great and they create a really friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend to absolutely everyone!

Always a great atmosphere in the gym. The programmed workouts always have scaled and RX option to allow any level of fitness to get a great workout whilst not feeling overwhelmed. They also include a great mixture of strength and cardio vascular elements to keep everyone improving with every session they partake in.
