User

We just came back yesterday from Sherwood Pines after a long weekend; having got there and relaxed in the hot tub watching the stars, to a snowy morning in the hot tub (again) whilst surrounded by visiting squirrels, and an array of birds - unbelievable experience for us a family. For walks we visited Sherwood Pines and took the Nature Explorer experience. Plus the great thing about going in winter is that you don't have to get up early to catch the morning chorus of the forest. We are planning our next visit already!

User

We have just returned from a 3 night break in the Forest of Dean, Copper Beach lodge (meadow). I would highly recommend it. We went with two dogs, two young children (aged 3&4) and 2 adults. The accommodation is amazing, where we were located in lodge 79 was ideal for the park, woodland walks and forest retreat. We had two family days out at Puzzlewood and Perrygrove railway which are really reasonably priced and great fun for the kids. The log cabin by far exceeded our expectations. It was fantastic and we will definitely be booking again.

User

We have just left the Forest of Dean site having been snowed in since Thursday. We are returning up North and want to say Thank you for a wonderful week and letting us stay in our cabin until it was safe to leave. Despite water problems during our few days extended stay you supplied water as best possible whilst we were able to keep warm and continued to enjoy the snowy surroundings with our dog. Thank you to the staff who have maintained our hot tub despite the cold conditions as we continued to enjoy the facility and thanks to the guy who helped us dig the car out of the woods. We look forward to another Forest Holiday in the future! Our expectations have been exceeded and we've made lovely memories!

User

Very sorry to be leaving our wonderful cosy cabin.

We had a go at archery with the wonderful Geoff who was a great tutor (managed a couple of bullseyes much to my delight). We also did the survival course with David the ranger. We learnt to make fire in several ways as well as a shelter and generally scavenged around the forest collecting useful items and learning how to survive.

We especially loved using the hot tub in such cold, crisp weather and coming back from walks to a toasty cabin.

This is our second stay at Blackwood and it definitely won’t be our last.

User

Just come back from our forest holiday with forest of dean. My 3rd time there and 1st time taking my family. My boys who are 6 absoluty loved it and was sad to leave. The fact that it was tranquil and relaxing made it all the more better. We went on walk daily and even enjoyed star gazing thanks to the lack of light pollution. Perfect holiday. Thank you

User

Just came back from our little break from thorpe forest. We had a lovely weekend in number 31 (hide away) cabin. The place was lovely when we arrived and we were really surprised to see extras in our cabin for our arrival. We also did the pizza night delivered to our cabin at first I was a little shocked by the price however when it arrived I could see that it was all freshly made on site.

Overall lovely stay. Would defiantly recommend.

User

Just arrived back from midweek break and had one of the best holidays in years! Dog friendly here in the truest sense and the friendliest, most helpful staff. The location is exceptional - quite and relaxing and endless walks and country parks on the doorstep.

The hot tub was a welcome sight at the end of each walking day and the in-cabin options and facilities made this break truly special. I would suggest paying that bit extra to chose your cabin location as we had the perfect blend of seclusion and proximity to the retreat.

Sherwood Pines Visitor Centre and Go Ape are less than a 10 minute strole and the walks in nature were superb! So much to do and the local country parks of Rufford, Vicar Water and Clumber Park are well worth a visit.

Will definately be booking our next holiday in the UK - a big thanks to all the team at Forest Holidays!

User

Forest Holidays is a very good company. We have stayed at Cropton twice and Forest Of Dean once before and would not have changed a thing.

In terms of our latest booking, that is for late June-early July at Deerpark. We paid ÂŁ395 before dog fees which is very reasonable for a summer holiday in Cornwall, but subsequently experienced some mild disappointment when we were emailed a 10% discount offer straight afterwards!

All it took was a quick Facebook message to make Forest Holidays aware - fully in the knowledge that we had no guaranteed rights as customers to the discount, and they were not obliged to gift it to us - and the next morning we received an email confirming a £39.50 refund straight back to my wife’s bank account, with no argument whatsoever, once again proving great service and recognition of ongoing customer loyalty.

On the back of this wonderful goodwill gesture we are now even more excited to visit Deerpark and have already planned numerous upcoming breaks with Forest Holidays - when a brand shows loyalty to a customer, the customer shows loyalty back!

Thank you Forest Holidays,

James, Eleanor, and Louis + Forrest (the pups!)

User

Deerpark is a fantastic location if you like peace and quiet and nature. We had a long weekend with amazing weather in a Silver birch with our 2 dogs. We walked every path on the rangers map and spent hours relaxing in our hot tub. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and took time to cuddle our dogs and give them a few bonio biscuits! Our accommodation was lovely, the kitchen was well equipped and we also enjoyed a few beers at the Forest Hub.

Deer Park

We have just returned from a fantastic stay at Deer Park with our two Beagles. This is the third time we have stayed with you and definitely the best! The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble. The cabin (14) was lovely, well decorated and so comfortable. We ordered pizza twice from the hub which was yummy!!! The coffee and hot chocolates are delicious too. The only one thing we would request is for the paths to be stoned to the cabins. Thank god we had wellies . Thank you for a lovely few days away in total bliss

User

Just back from the new forrest holiday site in Beddgelert. Lovely cabin although very hot and large windows do not open. My only advice is do not order any take away food.when it eventually arrived it was awful.cold burgers.no rice with currys.soggy things that were supposed to be chips.the worst thing was a supposidly quorn curry was actually chicken very upsetting for a vegetarian for 19 years.iwill go back but make sure to take my own food.

User

Hi can anyone tell me how close you are to other cabins on site I.e neighbours please . Also what is the newest location with dog friendly cabins . We are looking at going in may just two adults and small dog we live in bucks and have been looking at kelby in Yorkshire . This would be our first booking but don’t want to be let down etc there isn’t any children in the party and we would like to book a golden oak cabin with hot tub

User

We really really wanted to be able to give you 5* (and I think after our last stay we did give 5*). We adore the location at Keldy and setting which is beautiful and serene yet so much fun. However it is the cabin that's let the experience down. Basic things like a oven with readable knobs, and that heats up and cooks in a reasonable time is essential for a self catering holiday. A shower thats useable, a hot tub with more than one seat with any decent jets, clean bed linen (the bedrunner was beyond filthy). The cabin we stayed in is in desperate need of a refurbishment (I raised my concerns midweek with no response) and the lovely young man who I spoke to on checkout today said well they are 34 years old, well yes unfortunately it shows! We are hoping there is a plan to update the cabins so we can plan to come back to this beautiful Forrest again.

User

Had many holidays with Forest Holidays but it’s disappointing that there is no number to call as regards property left behind in the cabin. Having sent a message about the property as soon as we got home it would be nice if someone took the trouble to acknowledge the message and let me know if my property had been found.

User

We've been before and it was great. Last weekend it wasnt as good as it could have been, the weather wasnt good. I know they can't help that but we were not offered anything even though we couldnt use any facilities With everything closed because of the snow it would have been nice to have an acknowledgment that thia was a bit rubbish, a bottle of wine or a pizza given to every cabin perhaps? Also the under floor heating didnt work and we couldnt use the bath as the plug didnt work. I appreciate the staff were very quick to fix the heating. However, we paid a huge amount of money and it just didnt seem worth it.

User

Booked Beddgelert back in March for a special occasion. 5 year annivesary with my other half. Looked at the extras they do for couples, only really had a massage for 2 (2 therapists for 2 people). Filled out all necessary forms well in advance to avoid any disappointment.

Booked the Hideaway as well as recommened by family and friends who have been to other sites in the UK.

Bear in mind i planned this 4 months in advance. I get a call 1 week before to say they can only provide 1 therapist. I reiterated this is not what i paid for but they made some excuse that i didnt book it right (which they lied about). I looked back on my emails and have email confirmation of the time for 2 (2 therapist for 1 hour slot). They said they could offer a small discount for the inconvenience (might as well be nothing for the amount they make you pay for this trip).

Anyway get there cabin is nice. TV package we paid for didnt work properly on the Friday. Told front staff, did nothing about it.

Be carefully booking Hideaway here. Its false advertising. The cabin is right next to the main carpark, reception and can see most main cabins when on the decking at the back. When speaking to other family friends they said the ones they have stayed in was away from the main areas. So whoever planned this site must have messed up the location because it is a joke where they have put it. (And you pay more for this cabin btw). I checked other sites they have all of their hideaways are in more secluded areas. So their excuse they dont advertise it as away from everyone else is pathetic and lying again.

From definition Hideaway 'a place used for hiding in or as a retreat from other people'

Come the massage on Sunday. Was the worst massage ever had. My partner agreed. Booked deep tissue and i dont even think the therapist was awake when doing it. Kept telling the therapist more pressure only for nothing to change. Wasted 2 hours of our Sunday. Raised all my concerns with the trip with forest holiday when we checked out. Had to ring them twice to chase this up. Only to be given a half arsed excuse not to refund the treatment.

This is just a company that does not care about how your trip was just wants to make as much money on top of your trip as possible. Dont believe me? Just look at their prices when you need necessities at the shop.

What am i meant to do a week before the trip when the only thing that persuaded me to book it was the spa treatment. Made this clear to everyone involved, they just dont care.

I dont like it when companies think they can get away with how they handled my trip so just giving heads up to anybody that thinks its a good retreat with value for money. You could go any major European country book a cottage and have a better experience for the same price you pay forest holidays.

Just a heads up.

User

Worst experience I have ever had in a lodge.

cupboard doors were hanging off their hinges, thousands of midges around the hot tub which got into the lodge at night, products to help get rid of them were very expensive must be their way of trying to make money in summer.

Walls and ceiling were covered in spiders webs and spiders/flies/god knows what else. Tiny little bedrooms with a window you couldn’t fit a midge through.

Upstairs shower leaked into downstairs bathroom light which would’ve given electric shock if turned on. Took hours to get this fixed instead of moving us to another lodge which made us miss activities we had planned in the area.

No instructions on how to use the oven and when we finally figured out how to use the hob it would only work on one heat - the very highest. Anything we tried to cook became difficult to not burn completely. Bad cooker for a self catering holiday.

Bed sheets were DIRTY (paid over ÂŁ600 for this can you believe) very old fashioned decor which was not what the pictures on the website showed.

Very small 4 person hot tub in a lodge for 6 people not big enough.

Paid a huge amount of money for this and after complaining about these things WE are being blamed for breaking cupboards therefore are not getting any money back - disgraceful customer service should’ve listened to the bad reviews on here.

User

This is not a review of the holiday, as we couldn’t make it, but a review of customer service attitude when I had to cancel it. I am currently at hospital with my father in law who has taken ill again. The holiday was booked for him as he had cancer treatment last year. He was taken to hospital this morning and is being kept in. I explained this on the phone and the whole situation. The customer service rep was completely unsympathetic and said “well you three can still go can’t you?”.... I explained as a family we can’t leave him alone in hospital after what we all went through. She then said “do you know anyone else that can take over the booking?”.... seriously? That is not our priority right now! When I said no, she said “well that’s only 25% of the holiday you will get back” ( taken out extra insurance). That’s the last of my worries to be honest. Learn a bit more compassion! Will not book or recommend this company in the future

User

This is not a rating but more of a rant!! My daughter booked a holiday at deer park forest for this weekend 2 to 5th of March clearly not expecting such severe weather conditions!! However the staff seem to think it is okay to play god with peoples life’s insisting that as long as the park is functional ie gritted foot paths, that no refund or change of date will be offered. Obviously I will be seeking legal action against this company but would like this shared far and wide. As for all the people that do feel bullied in to risking this treacherous journey for fear of loosing their money ( that doesn’t come easy!!) please stay safe. Clearly the red weather warnings for the West Country and police stating to stay at home where possible is of no concern to the staff at this company! Shame on you

Clearly the red weather warnings for the West Country and police stating to stay at home where possible is of no concern to the staff at this company! Shame on you ’┐Į
