This week we visited Corringham CofE Primary School in support of Macmillan Coffee morning. Whilst there we took the opportunity to promote National Home Safety Week which starts from tomorrow. We spoke to the parents and pupils during our 2 hours there, addressing all their concerns about fire safety that were raised. We focused on all aspects of safety in the home and the importance of weekly tests on their smoke alarms. After that we spoke to the year 5&6 class and taught them the importance of smoke alarms and escape plans within their home. Personnel from across Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue and Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service have been deeply saddened by the death of Firefighter Stefan Hawcroft – ‘The Bravest Man’.
Stefan had been a Wholetime Firefighter at Lincoln South Fire Station for five years and also worked as an On-Call Firefighter at Dronfield Fire Station in Derbyshire for 10 years.
29 year old Stefan had been battling an inoperable form of brain cancer for a number of years. Despite recently receivin...g specialist treatment overseas, supported by a fundraising campaign started by his family, Stefan sadly passed away last Friday.
Lincolnshire’s Chief Fire Officer Nick Borrill said: "Stefan was a well-known, well respected and well-liked member of the Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue family. "His fight against this rare form of cancer affected all of us and we were all keen to help in any way we could.
"Our thoughts remain with his wife Rebecca and his family members at this difficult time as well as those firefighters who worked with Stefan and knew him as a colleague and as a friend."
Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service’s Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Gavin Tomlinson said: “Everyone who knew and worked with Stefan is deeply saddened by the news of his passing. The reaction we saw from crews across the whole of Derbyshire to help raise money for specialist treatment was unbelievable and a testament to how well Stefan was thought of within the Service.
“Our thoughts are with Stefan’s family at what I’m sure is an extremely difficult time, as well as the Firefighters from both Services who worked with him on a daily basis forming what would have been a unique bond.”
Stefan Hawcroft sadly passed away last Friday after 10 years’ service as a Firefighter.

Another busy day for both our Wholetime and retained crews. Wholetime attended an incident this morning and while dealing with this incident the retained were called out to assist our colleagues in Nottinghamshire and when returning back to Lincolnshire they got sent straight to assist the Wholetime at another grass fire 🔥 in Gainsborough 🚒👨🏼‍🚒👩🏻‍🚒

As the school holidays approach, historically so do small anti-social fires! We normally attend an increase in rubbish fires, grass/tree fires, bin fires and other small fires that cause vandalism.
Therefore we are asking parents to ensure they know where their children are and what they are doing.
Arson is a crime...these small fires can easily spread! Starting a fire is dangerous and can easily injure those involved....Plus whilst our fire crews are dealing with these inci...dents...we are unable to help others who might need us! 🚒🚨🔥💦

Tonight at the On-Call Firefighters training night, the crew recapped on First Aid skills (Trauma Care).
This scenario was a pedestrian hit by a vehicle with the driver unresponsive. This is just one of many scenarios we went through tonight 🚒👨🏼‍🚒👩🏻‍🚒

We had an SOS call from John Coupland Hospital yesterday Scotter Ward, they were entered into the Gainsborough In Bloom competition and couldnt water their flowers due to a problem with their supply. Of course, we were 'blooming' delighted to help out! This 'stems' from a strong community spirit and a 'blossoming' relationship. Last night crews from Gainsborough Fire Station attended a animal rescue on the river Trent. “Alfie” was stuck in mud on the river bank. Thanks to the hard work from the firefighters Alfie was saved 🚒💦🐶. The owner has contacted us this morning to say Alfie is absolutely fine he’s just a bit battered and bruised🚒🚒🚒

You’ve got to feel sorry for the ‘pour’ runners in this mornings park run!! We didn’t know ‘weather’ to run or not in the torrential rain but we ‘H2O’ it to ourselves and the community to keep our fitness levels up 💪🏽🏃🏼‍♂️but ‘water’ great feeling when it was over 💦🚒💦🚒 #wetwetwet Gainsborough parkrun #thingscanonlygetwetter

My colleagues brought a group of adults with learning disabilities for a tour around the station. Who got to use the equipment and have photos taken.

The staff and the service users thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the photos just go to show this.

I hear the fire people were very professional and very likeable.

All I've heard is how good it was.
