Schedule for Show Weekend is now on Show Page of GBS website! Only 3 weeks to go! Reminder -we do not have use of the Memorial Hall on Thursday this week, 2nd May (used as a polling station), but Carlton Academy classes are taking place as usual. Please attend an alternative class (see website for timetable) and the rehearsal on Sunday May 5th! (photo of Grace at Royal Ballet Spring Course)
Reminder: class for intermediate and advanced students is at 3.30pm this afternoon (Monday 22nd April), class plus rehearsal but no need to bring costumes. Hope everyone has had a good Easter Holiday. The beautiful student photos are of English National Ballet and Royal Ballet Spring courses and a trip to Freeds for a first pair of pointe shoes!

Led artistically by former company members, including Daniel Squire in London, the evening features anthologies of solos spanning Cunningham’s deeply influential, 70-year career. Dancers include Siobhan Davies, Thomasin Gülgeç, Francesca Hayward, Mbulelo Ndabeni, Michael Nunn and Billy Trevitt. This exceptional centenary event honours his conceptual ambition, love of technology and, most significantly of all, his vibrant legacy.

Lovely photo from Rambert School Experience Day! With former students from GBS involved too, Amy teaching and Seirian performing! Well done Kian, just returned from Copenhagen representing GB, skating in a program from Don Quixote. Well done to Grace attending English National Ballet Spring course and the Royal Ballet School Spring course! Next week we are very excited to watch former gbs student Rowan (dancer with Michael Clark Company) one of 25 professional dancers sel...ected to perform in Night of 100 Solos: A Merce Cunningham Centennial Event at the Barbican Theatre. A global event with performances in New York and Los Angeles as well as London, to celebrate one of the most influential American-born choreographers of the 20th century with 100 Cunningham solos performed by 25 dancers from around the world in each venue. Well done and thank you to students and chaperones, very happy with the first show rehearsal held last Sunday, look forward to seeing everyone again this Sunday!

A busy term and lovely news to share - Congratulations to Ali offered a place at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, joining Hannah, Lucy has accepted a place for full-time training at Ballet Theatre UK, and Lauren has a place at Laine Theatre Arts. Grace has been offered a Yorkshire Ballet Summer School place, along with spring and summer school with English National Ballet. Alexei (Elmhurst student) will also be attending Yorkshire Ballet Summer School. Finle...y will be attending the Royal Ballet Summer School for his third year. And an exciting time next term for former GBS students Seirian and Rowan, Seirian (Rambert student) will be performing in Matthew Bourne’s Romeo and Juliet, and Rowan (Central School of Ballet graduate) will be performing in the Merce Cunningham Centennial Event ‘Night of a 100 solos’ Drawn from around the world, 75 dancers grace three stages in programmes tailor-made for Los Angeles, London and New York, 100 Cunningham solos in each venue, with bespoke sets and live music devised especially for the centennial. On my way to London to watch Royal Ballet Senior/Adv associates Anna and Grace take part in a Matthew Bourne class and ballet audition technique class. Susie is teaching the inter foundation class tonight and will be bringing tutus! Thank you Susie.
