About Gkr Karate
GKR Karate is a club for all ages and promotes self-defence, fitness, coordination, discipline, confidence and stress relief.
Gkr Karate Description
Go-Kan-Ryu Karate (GKR) is a traditional Japanese style of karate. GKR was founded by Robert Sullivan in Adelaide, South Australia. Robert first began training in the art of karate in 1964, and spent time training and teaching in both Japan and the USA before establishing GKR in 1984.
GKR Karate is taught in a non-contact environment and promotes both character and physical development. GKR is a club for all ages and promotes self-defence, fitness, coordination, discipline, confidence and stress relief.
People of all walks of life can train together and learn the art of karate in a safe, fun and encouraging environment.

Great effort by all as usual. Cardio warm up, line drills, kick pad/focus mitts work then kata to finish.
Congrats to Nathan for being our black belt of the week. Big well done to Helen and Molly who earned their silver commitment award and to Bekah who is the first person to achieve their level 1 gold commitment award this year. ๐๐ Remember training at seminars and gradings, and taking part in tournaments earn you extra commitment ticks.

We started with combinations, moved onto kumite drills, kicks/stretches using props, kumite then kata to end.
Good to see Kevin wearing his new brown belt with pride.
Congrats to Molly for being black belt of the week and Ramona who achieved her silver commitment award.
... Remember the demo is on tomorrow at Thrapston primary school then the seminar in the afternoon.

Book your place ASAP - itโs going to be awesome ๐ Regardless of what grade you are, you will definitely learn something. Also be a fab starting point to perfecting your kata for those that are competing at the World Cup.

Quieter class than normal this evening due to one thing and another. We started with a cardio warm up using cones, hula hoops, agility ladder and hurdles. Then moved onto grading format followed by kata and some kumite to finish.

Fab effort by you all this evening. We warmed up with a bit of co-ordination/cardio fun using snowballs (seemed appropriate ๐) Then we moved onto kumite drills, partner work putting those drills into practice, some kick shield self defence work, kata then a couple of rounds of kumite to finish.
Well done to Aaron who was our black belt of the week and to Darren who was our student of the month. ๐ฅ

This is a fun fill class for the family or you want to come alone to Thrapston dojo on a Friday, if you have a spare evening, please come along and join in with us, my two girls and I have been going for over three years
This dojo is like my Friday family. Everyone is friendly and the sensei and her team give encouragement all the time. All levels and abilities are catered for with one to one when gradings or competitions are imminent. Everyone enjoys attending ๏ฟฝ
The Friday night group really are my karate family. A great group of guys to train with. Loads of support and encouragement from the group and instructors, helping you along your karate journey.
Great classes when I'm able to make them always made to feel welcome
Great Sensei, great students, great atmosphere, great karate! I don't get there every week but always made to feel welcome when I do.
Great Dojo, Friendly students. Everyone is made very welcome.
