It's Christian Aid week, and our friends at St Peter's Glenfield invite you to the Big Breakfast tomorrow (12th May) between 8am and 10am to raise funds for Christian Aid. Go on - you know you want to!
'After a night of fishing, the disciples meet the risen Jesus on the seashore and eat breakfast with him. Peter, who had denied Jesus before the crucifixion is restored and recommissioned by Jesus to care for his flock' (John 21:1-19). In Sunday Club our 7-11's group sat around a 'fire' and shared a simple meal of bread (no fish) and listened to the story. All 3 groups then played a game of 'Flap the Fish' which was great fun (no pictures of our eldest group they will be pleased to know!) Lots of laughter, but also learning how we are called to care and tend for others.

At Sunday Club this morning we studied Luke 19.28-40. Jesus finally reaches Jerusalem and arranges to enter the city on a donkey. As he joins the crowds of pilgrims arriving for the Passover festival, his disciples hail him as 'the King who comes in the name of the Lord' - to the annoyance of the watching Pharisees.
Our middle group of children did these wonderful paintings to describe the sequence of events between Palm Sunday and Easter Day, and our younger group watched an animation of the story and played pin the cross on the donkey.
O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness 🙏
It’s wonderful to welcome people from our local community to come and hear the Glenfield Ladies Cooperative Choir this evening.
What’s going on in this photo?
Well, the theme at Sunday Club yesterday was ‘being given a second chance’ - Jesus teaches about the need for repentance and tells the story of a fruitless fig tree that is given a second chance to thrive. See Luke 13.1-9 in the Bible for details.
One of our activities was to plant sweet pea seeds and read instructions on how to nurture the seedlings. In this photo the seeds, settled in the compost, are having a drink of water.
... At the end of our activities we prayed:
When we are confused, Lord, go with us. When we are scared, Lord, go with us, Wherever we journey, Lord, go with us, Whoever we are with, Lord, go with us. Walk with us, close beside us, Lord, go with us. Amen.
