Approval for the initial development of the village was granted on 8th May 1998, initially for 1000 houses to be built along with amenities such as a primary school, a community centre, and country parks. New developmentsA further development of 450 new homes together with an hôtel has been agreed by the West Northamptonshire Development Corporation. The development is on a site bounded by the A45 main road, an old sand pit used as a domestic refuse site but now closed, and the existing housing estate. The site was originally proposed as a site for an IKEA store in September 2002, but after local opposition in 2003, it was built in Milton Keynes instead.
