You can't beat a good argument over Brexit at dinner-time!

Hallowe'en marks the end of the Summer Season at Greendale. This year the whole day was a stunner - a heavy early frost followed by bright blue skies. We love this time of year! There is as much natural beauty around as any other time of year - you just need to look a little bit closer. All these photos were taken on the campsite on Hallowe'en morning...

No rain for 11 weeks. Everything is parched, trees are dying and grass is now dust - but this baby robin couldn't care less. Perhaps we should do the robin thing and just enjoy it while it lasts!

Whissendine Windmill on BBC1! If you've visited Whissendine Windmill then you'll want to watch "The Truth About Carbs" BBC1 Wednesday 6th June at 6pm. Nigel and his wonderful windmill will be featuring. It should be interesting - any publicity is good publicity. Here's a link to the prog: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0b5y6c0 [Oh, and if you've not visited yet, please do].

A great big thank you to our lovely customers for all your fabulous reviews. We have just been awarded a Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor. It's never too late to leave a review.....

We took all these photos in the last 24 hours to show just why so many diverse people are attracted to Rutland Water. Come along and enjoy the walking, cycling, sailing and bird-watching; or just sit on a bench and take in the scenery, views and atmosphere.....

User

We're feeling brave enough to remove the snowy Winter cover photo and replace it with a sunny Spring scene. [This is the view from pitch seven in May 2017].

Ice sculptures and other patterns on Rutland Water

I don't think we've ever had to refill the bird-feeders so often. We've had most of the usual suspects and several less frequent visitors too. The tree sparrows are devouring the red millet, the fieldfares are getting braver, we're pleased that the long-tailed tits are still coming but we've not seen the coal tits for two days - a bit worrying.

A Very Happy Christmas from Chris, Jo, Barb & Gail at Greendale Farm Park....

User

Sounds too good to miss. We know a good place to stay if you're visiting!

Greendale Farm Park has just been awarded 'European Campsite of Culture'. If you are from Dundee, Nottingham, Leeds, Milton Keynes, Belfast or Derry then you will always be welcome here. By the way, this award was dreamt up by the management of Greendale Farm Park (henceforth known as The Muppets). We decide who is entitled to enter, and as of today, it's just us.

What's unusual about this picture? 1. It's a beautiful little campste? True but not completely unusual. 2. It's a gorgeous sunny and breezy winter day? Also true but not remarkable. 3. THE CAMPSITE IS EMPTY!!!! That's it. Please don't let it happen again.... Give us a ring before you think of something dull to do.

User

It's creeping up on us! There are all sorts of special events around Rutland in the weeks before Christmas. Relax at Greendale and enjoy some great days out. Why not start with Burghley House's Christmas Fair! Free entry and free parking for your car, campervan or motorhome (any size). Here's a link with more details..... https://www.burghley.co.uk/events/christm as-fair/

Don't miss out on the misty mornings!

User

If you love music nostalgia and you're visiting Greendale between 14th and 30th November then don't miss this!

What an absolutely fabulous small adults only site. Yet again returning for our 4th time over the years. It’s one of the few places I can truly switch off and recharge those batteries. What a find this site was for us, and hope others enjoy its tranquility too. All the team (Jo, Chris, Barb & Gail) are really fabulous and helpful and we wish them well for the future.

User

We've just spent 5 lovely days here, so peaceful & well kept. We've never seen such perfect grass on a campsite. The amenity block was spotless with hand wash, hand cream & tissues provided like in a hotel. Lots of information on the local area was available. The wardens were very welcoming & friendly. We loved the local area & pub too, we will be back.

User

Really nice area. Well maintained with lawns looking like a carpet. Quiet and peaceful little camp with a LOT of familiar feeling. Verb nice owners and staff...

I will definitly comeback back next time I'm in the area....

Oh dear, I have a MAJOR complaint ... we didn’t stay long enough!!!!! W O N D E R F U L SITE +++

Wardens are magnificent, as before, despite horrid heat wave we survived as the POOL was amazing. Our wee dog was kept cool, not in the pool, but by all means possible, temp 30 degrees one day. Quiet YES. Safe ? Yes! Value for ? YES, if anything underpriced! Internet? Not used much, but seemed FABULOUS! Nothing too much trouble and our camping neighbours were so very welcoming, in 35 years of camping this was first time we were presented with ICE COLD drinks on a really HOT, HOT, HOT day! Thanks to our camping neighbours from my Homeland! (Northern Ireland). Their two wonderful labradors Diesel and Guiness, were the most well behaved dogs I have ever seen, our JRT Monty was a close second! Please have a vacancy soon so we can come again and see more of the area in more appropriate weather... we loved chillin and reading TWO Bookd in 4 days,. Love and Hugs... Brian and Brenda xx and Monty dog

Lovely little adult only site with a splash pool, gorgeous layout & a really useful little shop with so much more than expected! Helpful wardens & watching the wildlife makes this site a little gem. We will return (hopefully in the sunshine next time!

User

Fantastic site with super helpfull wardens and owner. Immaculate grass and borders with many feeders that attract birds regularly.

Lots to do in the area and there are more leaflets and information to possibly take in over a weekend, a week would be recommended.

There is also a small well kept pool to cool off in if so inclined.

All round a perfect camping and caravanining experience.

We will certainly return soon.

User
