We hired the function room and roof terrace for our wedding celebrations and couldn't have been happier with our choice. From booking the room, to the date of the event, there has been fantastic communication, an excellent choice of menus at such reasonable prices with staff very attentative to detail. Cannot recommend enough, would definitely hire again. Thank you for looking after us, very much appreciated!
We had our 30th anniversary at the Greyhound and used the terrace as extra room. Everyone really enjoyed the night, no complaints at all and our food was superb. We recommend it for groups up to fifty ’┐Į
Stopped here a few times now on the way into town. There's a good selection of beers on offer, comfortable surroundings and a nice beer garden/roof terrace for the warmer days. Will definitely be stopping off again, and will try the food one day it smells amazing. No negatives so far.
Love the Hound. Charlie and the team are always welcoming, great beer as well!
Had my better halfs 30th party here and it was excellent. Booked out the function room and roof terrace and the staff not only kept all of the roof terrace furniture miraculously dry during a full on down pour but also put up a mini gazebo so the guests could still enjoy it! Had the sandwich platter which was all very well received. Also the staff were fantastic especially the guys who tended bar on the night. Couldn't do enough for everyone there. Can't recommend this place highly enough.
Great beer , great food, great staff!! Hat trick !!
Friendly staff really add to the great atmosphere here. This coupled with their knowledge of the vast selection of beers makes for a wonderful drinking experience.
Takeout beers meant for a well stocked fridge through the winter too.
This is an essential port of call.
Five of us went for a birthday meal and loved it. The smoked meats were delicious, the most fabulous chips and really special homemade sauces and marinades. Staff were friendly and attentive and the place was buzzing. Great that they have the garden room and roof terrace, they were full on the first sunny day of the year, bring on the Summer!
Fab succulent steak, the best chips in Derby and fantastic range of beer. Quirky building and friendly staff.
Absolutely beautiful pub, food is great and the beer selection is incredible! Never seen anything like it! Will 100% be back again.. also they do takeout beer, we stocked up our fridge at home!!
Lovely pub and we were delighted to be able to take our dog in to the bar area on a rainy evening. We had some small dishes to share which were lovely and plentiful. Smashing friendly staff - just a little bit on the pricey side for a pub tea but otherwise nothing to complain about apart from not having Sauvignon blanc in stock!
Went here for a meal a month ago, we all ordered burgers, everyone's burgers were perfect except my husbands whose burger was raw in the middle, told the waiter he agreed that it was raw then got the women in charge who told us that's the way the chefs cooked the burger, we pointed out that on the menue it said all burgers are cooked medium and my husband ask for it well done, she then left then came back and gave as a refund for the burger which we didn't ask for just was letting her know the burger was raw . Very poor customer service which was a shame, would have a drink here but not a meal
Hearing reviews on the party who had their father's wake recently at this establishment, is very disappointing that on a very sad occasion, they received such a poor service when every effort should be made to give their father the best send-off. Shame on you!
Worst service ever!! With only one member behind the bar who had been having to serve over 60 people!... After costing a lot of money (┬Ż500) I am very disappointed, the food was thrown onto display with no care whatsoever which also taste disgusting.. While at the venue the gas for the pumps had also not been working and was not fixed throughout our time at this awful venue. I would highly AVOID the Greyhound pub and save your money, maybe then you will be treated with respect unlike the so called managers at the venue who show disrespect, especially after someoneŌĆÖs funeral....

Went to the Greyhound tonight for a meal. I have to say it was terrible service! We arrived at 7.45pm in good time as our table was booked for 8pm. We were then told that the table was booked for 7.30pm! When we eventually got the waitresses attention she showed us to our table...only to have no seats to sit on and the table wasn't set ’┐Į’┐Į we then had to wait around 10 minutes for someone to actually fetched us some seats to sit on. We then settled at our table and tried to order some food...only to be told that 3 things on the menu that I had chosen...they actually didn't have! There was nothing on the menu that I actually wanted! When they did finally take our order it was terrible service and the person on the bar wasn't the most pleasant! Really bad experience!!! Glad I wasn't paying for the experience as my Brother bought us a voucher for the Greyhound for my birthday present. Won't be returning ever!
Was over from Ireland visiting family in Derby. We had lunch and we definitely won't be coming back to eat again as the food was cold when brought to our table and the service was very poor!!!!
Really disappointed with the Greyhound! Normally everything is excellent, but unfortunately our recent experience has let us down. We booked a table for 14 people quite far in advance for 8pm for our Xmas meal. On arrival we asked about the table, the bar staff said that they needed to speak with the manager. We waited for a bit, and the manager finally came over and told us that they didn't think we were coming?! When we asked why, she explained that the person who took our booking didn't take a contact number, so they couldn't call to confirm, so they assumed that we weren't coming! We were not told that we needed to call again to confirm (why would we after our initial booking?) so they cancelled the table. The member of our party that had booked, said that she had exchanged emails with whoever dealt with the bookings, and confirmed that we weren't ordering from the Xmas menu, so we would assume that we were coming. We weren't really apologised to, it was made out as though it was our fault. Surely, you would assume that we are coming, rather than not? And they had an email address they could have contacted, but didn't? Luckily, the function room was not in use (not quite sure what would have happened if it were) so the manager said if we could just wait 10-15 mins (it took much longer in reality). We ordered our food, but did not receive main courses until 9.45pm! We had booked for 8pm! The food came out staggered so by the time the last members of our party had received their food, those who had received theirs first were about finished. Most of the food was cold, and just not the best quality. Some of us wanted deserts but the kitchen had closed by the time we had finished our mains. We should have really been told that we wouldn't be able to get deserts, or they should had said something when taking our order for mains, as some of our party would have ordered their deserts then. However, I will say that the staff that served us in the function room were excellent, and they let us plug our phones into the sound system so we could put our own music on. Just such a let down on what was meant to be a special occasion!
I have recently attended the wake for a close friend of mines father this week and to say that what was provided was inadequate is an understatement!!!! There were not enough tables or seats for all of the guests, the gas ran out for the pumps, the food left a lot to be desired and there was only one member of staff available. What was already a very difficult and distressing day was made all the more horrendous by the awful reply the manager has sent to the family in reply to their complaints. I found this to be in poor taste and judgement under the circumstances. Accusing them of being slanderous and stating their comments were blackmail!! Which in fact they were not and as someone who is married to a police officer can confirm that the comments the family have made were purely freedom of speech!!! And trying to use what is perceived to be weight with the editor of the telegraph is shocking. Any newspaper worth itŌĆÖs salt forms and unbiased view by taking into account all views!!!!!
Extremely dissapointed. Booked a table 3 weeks ago for our anniversary only to find they had forgotten about us. They did try to put us on a table that was the size of a postage stamp in the corner that had no chairs.
Won't be going again.
