We went here yesterday for the first time and had dinner with some drinks. The food was amazing and the drinks were top notch! I ordered the pulled pork meal which came with pickles, slaw and fries and my partner went for the half baby back ribs meal which came with the same as the above. Both were spot on and tasted great, the fries had lovely seasoning which went really well with the meat. For drinks we went for the Grillstock Pale Ale, Tiny Rebel Cwutch and an orange juice. The beers were awesome, especially the Grillstock Pale Ale as again this went really well with the food and tasted lovely.

The restuarant itself had a very warm atmosphere. After coming in from the rain it was really nice and relaxing. In terms of the staff I couldn't fault them, extremely friendly and helpful. We will definitely be coming back to Grillstock in the near future as it's now one of my favourite places in town to eat!

User

Waited months no years to finally get there well worth the wait best ‘burnt ends’ going ...

User

Really lovely staff. Excellent service and food was so so nice! Was given the bill and told I had a chance to win my meal I'd just eaten for free if I could roll two 6's! I was a lucky lady, managed to roll two 6's and didn't have to pay a penny! Will definitely be going again lol

User

Ppl were really good. Waiters were courteous. Great place for meat lovers n fried food however I did not enjoy it as the smell of meat was in my face- I am a meat eater (very moderate) it was too much for me. If you love meat, ribs n fried food the best place ever. For a health freak like me( not my place).

User

Lovely chilled place... great food... lovely staff. Definately recommend

User

Had dinner here for the first time on Saturday night having been let down by Wygston's House. We arrived hungry and ready to eat! Our waiter was brilliant, got us seated quickly and took orders quickly. Unfortunately a meal was missed from the order- again waiter was exceptional, personally apologising, explaining why it happened, offered to take it off the bill and bring an appetiser on the house as that would be out quickly. His customer service was above and beyond and made our meal. The food was also awesome! Great meal and great service- we will definitely return!

User

Delicious food. Reasonable price. Friendly staff. Would recommend to all meat lovers!

User

Brilliant food for sure and reasonable price too, most places you’d be paying a lot more for the food you get. My partner and I shared the challenge and at £20 a head it was really good. We got seated pretty quick and they gave us enough time to go over the menu before they came for orders. I loved the atmosphere of the place it looks great and the music was great too.

User

My 3rd visit to the place ....food is lovely however can't say the same for the staff ....took my family there ....waited over 20 minutes to be asked if we want drinks and to take our food order also was red hot yesterday and no where to sit out of the sun so was hot ....bothered and uncomfortable ....very little interaction or interest from staff ...unsure will visit again

Visited last night with friends, having made a reservation, we were shown to a table then promptly asked to move as another party had reserved the particular table we were sat at... as a result of the confusion over tables our table we had relocated to had not been cleaned, when the food finally arrived there was no cutlery. We waited for a waiter to become free and asked... the food itself was of a poor standard, very dry and portion size was disappointing to say the least. Considering we all spent over £20 on a main course we decided to go elsewhere for dessert as we were all hungry and thoroughly bored with the place. After informing the waiter of our disappointment we left....Taking into account the eateries in St. Martins square this won't be a restaurant we return to.

User

I was so looking forward to eating here and what a disappointment

The waitress was okay but not the friendly welcoming service I normally expect, the starters were not value for money basically 5 potato wedges for £6.50! the mains were by far the worst the chicken was bloody and the ribs were dry and tough when I mentioned this to the waitress as she took our plates away after she had asked us how the meal was .. just looked at me gone out with no apology nor amendments to the bill as we couldn’t finish our food ..

We will not be go no again .. such a let down

User

Disappointing... had a real big craving for BBQ and Mac n cheese so thought to try Grillstock (AKA No-stock) in Leicester on Saturday 6th October.

Introduction was pleasant greeted by a lovely host who took us to the table and informed us that 2 dishes weren't available. No problem, ordered wines asked to top up to a large glass, small glasses arrived had to send drinks back, waitress looked annoyed.

Ordered porky nachos, asked to have sour cream and told that would be fine. Nachos came without sour cream and no mention, had to another waitress for sour cream who then came back to say they didn't have them. The nachos were extremely dry the pulled pork wasn't even broken up. Huge dry chunks of pork with loads of cheesea and few onions. So asked for BBQ beans to help to add some kind of moisture, and guess what? No BBQ beans, fab.

The nachos took the best part of 15 mins to be removed from the table after we had finished with them.

Mains - not bad, but it's not really BBQ like you would get in london, it's not fresh meat but more like frozen bits, the most unusual brisket I'd ever seen served in very neat slices.

The major disappointment was the Mac n cheese, it was the saddest thing I had ever seen. It was a pile of white mush with not a trace of cheese. Whatever powder sauce was used just made it taste like flour. It wasn't even baked with cheese on the top. We sent it back and asked to have some cheese on the top and my goodness what returned was even weirder. Now I could hardly see a tube of macaroni just gallons of this powder cheese concoction. It was making my friend nauseous so we stayed clear.

We did ask for it to be removed from the Bill and they kindly did.

Didn't stay for desert.

Overall I would not recommend this place or return, the service needs to improve and the food isn't great. Somebody really needs to look at the flavourless Mac n cheese.

On a Saturday night which is usually the busiest night of trade you expect the kitchen would be fully stocked.

This restaurant could be great, but isn't at the moment.

User

Visited on Friday 26th with a group of friends. Sadly this is the last time we will visit.

No Grillstock pale ale on tap. Told it won’t return. Instead served budvar draft that was quite frankly awful beer. Order porky nachos at £7.50, they were no better than supermarkets on brand nachos with minimal salsa and cold un pulled pork. I had to drench the nachos in sauce to make them edible. Main was the smokehouse sampler £20 which consisted of dry, over cooked baby back ribs with no hint of smoke and brisket that was 2 small slices, dry and no smoke ring on site. What used to be a great establishment has really got bad. Service was polite but very slow.

It’s a shame the management don’t reduce the size of the menu and focus on real bbq quality.

User

This was our 2nd visit to the restaurant, the 1st time we went was the week it opened summer 2015, (I think)due to the demand of being new they had run out of some of the menu, so it was limited but we still enjoyed it and swore to return another time .... so we were went yesterday and was really disappointed the portions were small for the price, the restaurant didn’t look very inviting, so we ate up paid the bill and said we probably wouldn’t bother again, later on that evening my teenage daughter became really sick, and said she thought it was down to the ribs she had eaten, so it’s safe to say we won’t be returning.

User

Poor service, waited till we had ordered drinks and looked through the menus before telling us half the menu was unavailable. Served barely warm burnt food that was missing bits (apparently cooked to specification). It was sent back straight away and we were still expected to pay for it. When we refused the staff member told us we couldn't leave, baring in mind they had been waiting for us to leave since we arrived and we had left cash to cover the rest of the bill for what I can only describe as bang average food. Sent a full complaint email and awaiting a response. Poor considering we were the only people in the whole place.

User

Poor service not that its the fault of the staff, there was only 2 waiters for the whole place this being a Friday night, the food was very disappointing and it was expensive, its the second time I've been and the second time I found it to be poor, won't be going again,

User

Poor poor very poor....

Under staffed,45 min wait for the worst nachos I’ve had.. cold pulled pork dumped on top of dry cheese-less no sour cream or salsa fuck all... dry tasteless £7.50 nachos I’ve had better from Wetherspoons for £1.99.

Rack of ribs were over cooked rough meat NO It didn’t fall of the bone as it should, no draft ipa on sale,no pepper, limited condiments & small dare I say tight portions all at top price...7 hungry men got robbed of £244.00 for nothing better than bang average pub food!!!! Authentic BBQ Food my arse!!!! Don’t bother wasting your well earned here!!!!!

User

My first time to Grillstock, and most definitely my last. If there was an option for no stars, that’s what I’d give it.

We were welcomed and shown to our tables, and then waited around 20 minutes before asking for to be taken. The restaurant had circa 10 people in and probably 3-4 staff on the floor, hardly busting a gut to deliver service I’d expect.

I asked the gentleman who took the orders whether the Nachos could come with just salsa, he said no as they didn’t have salsa. So I decided not to order them. My friend however did, his Nachos came, he ordered BBQ Bean Nachos, and they came with no sour cream like the menu states, and only salsa. So I was annoyed that I could have had them.

I ordered a Burnside Burger, plain other than cheese and an extra patty and it came fully loaded as the menu described. I then notified the waiter of the mistake and he went and had another one made, up on bringing the burger over, there was no cheese. I was so frustrated with the service I didn’t even tell him as clearly there is an issue with the service side of things here, however the food was ok.

User

Food was poor, staff were rude and told my group of friends (one of which a heavily pregnant lady) that they wouldn't let us leave when we disputed our bill having sent cold and burnt food back! Disgraceful.

Food was poor, staff were rude and told my group of friends (one of which a heavily pregnant lady) that they wouldn't let us leave when we disputed our bill having sent cold and burnt food back! Disgraceful.
