Dave had been working in the NHS for 19 years as a Biomedical Scientist when in 1987 someone uttered the immortal words, “You’re really funny, you should be a comedian” and for some reason, he took them seriously!! Only a few short months later he was crowned the winner of the national talent show Stairway to the Stars.
Larry Grayson, one of the judges, told him that it was a close run thing on the night but what clinched the award for Dave was his routine about a juggler on ...a motorbike. Fast forward 13 years (Is that possible?) to Friday 13th October 2000 , the day Dave switched off his microscope for good and found himself, the following Monday, singing Walking on Sunshine on rain swept local car park dressed as a giant berry!!
So here he is in 2019 celebrating the 32nd anniversary of his comedy career. In this show he will look back on his remarkable life and his incredible journey from working class lad to chief biomedical scientist to much loved comedy performer and writer via Phoenix Nights, Eight out of Ten Cats, Bullseye, Dead Man Weds, Magnolia, The Royal Variety Show, Parkinson and many more. He often reflects that maybe none of this would have happened and he might still be looking down his microscope if it wasn’t for the juggler on the motorbike.

My daughter took me to see Billy Ocean ..he was fantastic, he encouraged us all to stand, sing and dance .. great performance and accustics at the auditorium brilliant.. good night had by all.. Grimsby is very lucky to have such a place.. thanks to my daughter Bev xx

User

I went to watch Evita last night.. it was superb, a polished production, emotional , evocative from start to finish and a credit to all the cast for a thoroughly enjoyable show .

User

I went to see cinderella there this week and it was fantastic and nothing to do that I got picked to be one of the ugly sisters boyfriends, was buttons and the 2 ugly sisters that made the performance we're I ended up in tears of laughter the whole time, it was fantastic and and if was still on I would go again.

User

I came to see dirty dancing for opening night and it didn't disappoint. Amazing show. Superb timing for the water lifts and splash. If I had the money I would be at every show. Again fantastic x

User

Great local venue. Even better that we are getting big star acts to NEL. TEXAS were so fantastic last night. A proper rocking concert with a group and singer that really connected with the audience and the audience with her. The auditorium managed really well, I would suggest they look at their prices that are extortionate for food and drinks. They'd sell far more if prices were keener and could cope with the numbers at the bars and soft refreshments.

User

Evita was stunning

User

Brilliant night at the sensational 60’s loved being my mums chaperone fantastic night xx

User

Ben Portsmouth is the best elvis I've seen so far and from a distance even looks like elvis too great show will go and see him again should he come again.

User

Absolutely brilliant place been twice and both times great experience first time was the Australian Pink Floyd tribute band which was amazing and second time was the king is back Elvis absolutely brilliant Ben Portsmouth very talented man

User

i took my daughter and her 2 friends to see wonderland last week for her birthday treat. The performance was great, but the sound wasn't very clear in the balconies, it was quite difficult to pick up all the words.

User

Went to see twist and shout as a last minute thing the staff were all very friendly and happy to help as for the show ..... Wow was hilarious the music fantastic and costume changes were fab we were dancing g in the aisles at the end. The only gripe I have are the expensive drinks other than that a wonderful experience

User

Went to Evita on Thursday 31 May 2018 it was a brilliant performance - thoroughly enjoyed the whole show but it was so HOT people were going out for fresh air as the heat was over powering - it was so uncomfortable

User

Electrifying, high energy dance show with Giovanni Pernice- we loved it great night of entertainment, music and dance. Far better for real than on tv in Strictly. Close second to the brilliant ‘Last Tango’ with Vince and Flavia.

The theatre desperately needs refurbishing, such ashame.

User

Been to many different shows here over the last few years, always a wide selection of shows just need more promotion of shows as the shows are really good just many shows have empty seats. Need more musicals first one I saw here was beauty and the beast a few years ago and loved it - would love to take my mum to it so many good musicals on tour and would do great here, down side bar prices are very expensive £14 for two glasses of wine 😮😮 x

User

Went to see the ballet Cinderella. The dancing was brilliant, but as there wasn't a live orchestra (recorded music instead) this was a disappointment. Also, I have no problem with young children going to shows and talking etc, I had my 8yr old daughter with me. However, the young tots behind us were swapping seats and dancing along, which was sweet - at first, but trying to enjoy a show with a small child constantly kicking the back of your chair and banging into the back of your head is not enjoyable. Perhaps a little more Parental control should be considered, instead of spending time looking at her phone, after all we've paid for our tickets too and would like to sit in comfort.

User

Not enough bar staff for a sold out act and overflowing mens toilets. Poor for a large venue.

User

Dirty dancing was fantastic and definetley 5 stars .... only complaint is the heat .. surely a modern place like this should have air conditioning units .. very uncomftable to sit for nearly 2 hours

User

The Elvis act was spectacular, couldn't fault it...just a pity the entire Auditorium was like an inferno, everyone was fanning themselves and moaning at the break how ridiculously hot it was in there..even 'Elvis commented several times and said he was melting!!!

The drinks prices are unbelievable, it was cheaper in The Royal Albert Hall 2 months ago than good old Grimsby Auditorium...absolutely shocking!!!

Here's a thought, turn the heating down 15 degrees and with the hundreds saved, shave off at least 40% off the bar prices...ridiculous!!
