Our amazing Fisherman's Chapel a place to remember those lost at sea.
So who knew we had a fully working model railway here at the Hall? Enjoy having a good look! Thanks to Focus 7 Ltd for the pictures.
As part of our project we've commissioned some 360 degree pictures from Focus 7 Ltd of the Hall to highlight its heritage features. Here's the Roy Kemp Hall
Central Hall Grimsby about mid-1960's. St. Augustine's cubs which was in Farebrother St. ??? Not sure of this event but only about 3 of us representing St. Augustines. Looking at some up to date photos of this hall shows it hasn't changed much apart from the stage extends further out than in this photo. Photo shared in Grimsby Memories - Lincolnshire UK by Steve Brookes.

Trip to Lincoln Castle to the debtors prison where Sam Wesley spent quite a bit of time and preached whilst incarcerated!!
On the left: Robert James Cressy who was the Skipper of the trawler “Stirling.” Robert James and his crew were all lost at sea when the “Stirling” was blown up by a mine, off the coast of Iceland, on the 24th February 1915. He was 52yrs old, married, with children. Robert James is commemorated on the Tower Hill Memorial, London. On the right: George James Cressy [son of Robert James] He was found drowned off the H.M. Patrol Trawler “Hermia.” He was 28yrs old, married, with a young family. George James is buried in a W.W.1 grave in Scartho Road Cemetery, Grimsby. Robert James and his son George James are both also commemorated on the W.W.1 Marble Memorial in the Fishermens’ Chapel, Central Hall, Grimsby.
Can we help you find your ancestors lost at sea?
John Wesley, founder of Methodism, spent most of his life on a horse. He started the "Circuit Riding" tradition for Methodist Preachers.
For 50 years he mainly travelled by horse back covering over 225,000 miles and preaching over 40,000 sermons. Many days he covers 70-80miles on horse back with one occasion covering 90 miles in 20 hours!
Look what we've found! Who knew John Wesley preached here in 1781?
So where is this plaque? We'll pick a winner who will get a prize!!
