COMIC DAY!!!
Due to last week's technical difficulties there isn't a huge amount been shipped this week, but we have some lovely nuggets, and here they are...
Comics...... Buffy the Vampire Slayer #1 - Boom studios have done a ripping job with Firefly, so it would be rude not to give the Buffy comics franchise a kick up the arse. A new era of Buffy starts here.
Aliens: Resistance #1 - (not pictured) If you enjoyed the Aliens: Defiance series, this is the official follow-up.
Guardians of the Galaxy #1 - In the aftermath of Infinity Wars, the guardians are given a new creative team and a new line-up, but who could they be? Well, if even a few characters from the cover (Gladiator! Silver Surfer! Betaray Bill! Cosmic Ghost Rider!!!) end up on the roster the new team will be powerful as fudge, but with Donny Cates and Geoff Shaw (Thanos Wins) on-board as creators, it's gonna be 100mph all the way.
Trades... Cosmic Ghost Rider - Speaking of the insanely awesome character that is Frank Castle from an alternate future, endowed with a cosmically enhanced Spirit of Vengeance but not all his marbles, after the Thanos Wins story ended he got his own mini-series, and here it be collected. You don't need to know what it's about, it doesn't matter, you just need it in your life.
Also out, Daredevil vol9, Marvel 2in1 vol2 and World of Tanks: Citadel.

COMIC DAY!!!
Yes it's that day of week again, unfortunately our suppliers have been having problems with their online systems, so I'm not sure we received all of our stock, nonetheless, here are some highlights of what we received.
Comics...... Invaders #1 - hot on the heels of recent Avengers issues and the excellent Defenders mini-event, Namor's tyrannical story-arc continues in this re-teaming of the classic war-time superteam, but with a twist and written by the ever entertaining Chip Zdarsky.
Black Widow #1 - This new Widow mini-series is written by the Soska sisters, who are better known for their film work than comics, and visceral horror movies such as American Mary at that. Should be an interesting take on the Marvel Super-spy.
Avatar: Tsu'tey's Path #1 - Fan of James Cameron's record busting sci-fi extravaganza rejoice, this mini-series deepens the mythology of the population of Pandora to give insights beyond the movie.
Trades... The Life of Captain Marvel - Not long until Marvel's next big thing hits the cinemas, so it's a perfect time to read this vibrant, stand-alone Captain Marvel story that explores the young life of Carol Danvers as well as throwing her current self into an all-new adventure.
Farmhand vol1 - From writer/artist Rob Guillory (who you will know as the brilliant artist of Chew), comes another weird story, this one about an old farmer whose cash crop is fast healing human organs (?!), but his crops about to go bad in tragic ways. Critics are saying this book is as touching as it is smart and original. I can't wait to give it a look.
The New World - If you love Tradd Moore's stylistic and dynamic artwork in the Luther Strode trilogy, you're going to really dig this romantic-sci-fi-actioner which skates the fine line between Romeo and Juliet and... um... Mad Max maybe? Anyways, it looks awesome.
Also in are Power Rangers archive vol2 and Champions vol5.

COMIC DAY!!!
And for a change the majority of recommendation are of the single issue variety, let's dig in.
Comics...... Captain Marvel #1 - Yes, in preparation for the new film Marvel have relaunched the Captain marvel title with the excellent Kelly Thompson on writing duties.
Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #1 - Do we need another Spidey title? Well I guess depends on your perspective; if you thing the current Spidey titles are missing the good-old-street-level-every-man edge then this book is for you, paying more attention to the Neighborhood element so cleverly included in the title.
Young Justice #1 - Bendis has relaunched the Young Justice title, and the team is headed by the original 90's Young Justice trifecta of Superboy, Impulse and Robin, and it's the 90's versions of the characters, and it's somehow in current continuity. It's a 90's nerd's dream... Now if there's any way we could convince them to get Ramos on art duties, that'd be just fine.
Criminal #1 - THE crime comic of our time is back with a new story of ne'er-do-wells probably ne'er doing well. The original creative team of Brubaker and Phillips (Kill or Be Killed) are present and correct and each issue features back-matter not collected in the trade. Lovely!
Gunning for Hits #1 - And Images second crime outing of the week is a very interesting looking story set in the seedy underbelly of the music industry. I'm certainly up for a bit of that.
Trades... Modern Fantasy - There's an everyday side to fantasy worlds too, folk still need jobs, try to go on dates and put up with crappy housemates. Here a young woman who came to the Big City in search of adventure decides to fulfill her dream so long as she can do it while still holding down her day-job and paying off her student loan, so putting a rag tag group together they set out for a quest that'll involve amulets, the mob and a cult. Sounds like top fun to me.
Other trades include Old man Logan vol 10 and Doctor Aphra vol4.

COMIC DAY!!!
Bit late with this post as some of my stock wasn't delivered, and as such some of these products are already sold out (where indicated), but there are some belting collections out. Check it out.
Comics...... Conan the Barbarian #1 - Marvel have the rights to Conan back! Who better to write this ongoing title than the awesome Jason Aaron? It's going to be excellent, more especially because Mahamud Asrar's art is beautiful and there's the first part of a new prose novella included.
Trades... Deadpool vol1 - Skottie Young's (I Hate Fairyland) critically acclaimed run on Deadpool now has it's first volume collected, which should be a great jumping-on point for new fans.
Death of the Inhumans - Marvel's new Wunderkind, Donny Cates (Thanos Wins, Venom), bashed out this awesome Inhumans mini-series, which, in his usual style, threw a million ideas into the mix to make for an invigorating read. If the last few years of Inhumans stories have proven too convoluted, this stand-alone epic takes the characters right back to basics.
Tony Stark Iron Man vol1 - Legendary Spidey writer, Dan Slott, takes on Iron Man. 'Nuff Said.
Edge of Spidergeddon - Solo adventures of multi-dimensional spider-folk which lead in to the Spidergeddon event. (Sold out until next week)
Batman/The Shadow - Batman teams up with the famed pulp-era vigilante in a tale written by fan favourite, Scott Snyder.
Bill and Ted Save the Universe - The most excellent duo use their bodacious skills to do just what the title suggests in this super fun adventure from Boom studios (Sold out until next week).
Assassins Creed: Conspiracies - A World War II set, espionage based Assassins Creed story? sounds too great to deal with.
Cellies - Lion Forge, Ground Zero's new favourite publisher, knock out another original, vibrant title, this one concerning itself with the odd-bod staff of a mobile phone shop in a slice of life comedy that may take a strange twist.
Jinx - This seminal crime graphic novel from the 90's is perhaps still the best and most trailblazing thing Brian Bendis has produced in his illustrious career. A must for crime aficionados and mature comic fans.
Power of the Dark Crystal vol1 - Previously only available as expensive hard cover additions, this more affordable soft cover edition is the first part of Boom and Jim Henson Studios official sequel the fantasy classic. Written by top writer Si Spurrior with dazzling art by The Sisters Matthews, this fantastic and magical tale is truly worthy of its source material. Highly recommended.
Black Hammer vol3 - Jeff Lemire's charming and enigmatic superhero epic starts to answer questions while asking a few more. If you haven't read this series yet you should jump on board, it's fantastic.

NEARLY CHRISTMAS!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU AND THANK YOU.
Taking the last few minutes before I close up to say a great big THANK YOU!!! (again) to all our customers. December has been a great month here at Ground Zero, not just financially but because everyone has been in excellent spirits, making my workdays a pleasure. I've had a great time.
It's also heartening to see that the lion's share of my Christmas sales have been for comics, graphic novels and Manga of every variety,... both to give as gifts and as treats to yourselves to entertain you on the Christmas break. Don't get me wrong, figures, collectibles and trinkets are fun but I LOVE the comics medium and I'm super chuffed that so many people in Mansfield are digging them too. Awesome stuff!
Merry Christmas, yo, and I'll be back open from Thursday.

COMIC DAY(S)!!!
Watcha gang. It's the last delivery before Christmas and They've sent enough for this week and next. So while I don't think I'll be getting a delivery next week we've got plenty to keep us going until the new year.
Comics...... X-Force #1 - As Weapon X closes out, the original X-team of tough-nuts reform, presumably to f*** s*** up.
Superior Spider-man #1 - Oh yeah, the uber-egotistical Spider-Man, which is to say, DocOc in the guise of Spidey, is back and doing it his own way.
Trades... Thor vol1 - With Odinson back to having the Thor title, things are as back to basics as things get with Jason Aaron still on writing duties, which isn't very basic, but the book is still super-fun (and leading up to next year's big event).
The Sentry - Awesome writer, Jeff Lemire, gave Sentry even more complexity with this little read but brilliant mini-series. If you've ever loved the character this trade is well worth a read.
Batman: Europa - Batman and Joker kinda-sorta team up to adventure across Europe in search of the cure to a virus they've both been infected with. Previously only available in Hard Cover, this is a much more affordable way to read an excellent Batman story.
Gears of War Omnibus - IDW are repackaging the original Gears of War comic which have been unavailable for quite some time, and in bumper collections to boot. This book collects the first two comic series.
Also available Daredevil vol7, Moon Knight vol2, Nightwing vol7, Batman vol8, Doom Patrol vol2, Batman Beyond vol4 and Venom: First Host.

COMIC DAY!!!
If you have a standing order with us you will certainly have a handful of stuff this week as it was a pretty massive comic day. Here are some bits and bobs of note.
Comics...... The Batman Who Laughs #1 - The stand out character from Dark Nights: Metal gets his own mini-series, and it's by Snyder and Jock. Should be ace!
Spider-Man #1 - On the eve of the release of Spider-Verse, Miles gets his first ongoing book without Brian Bendis at the helm.
Fantastic Four: The Wedding Special - Ben Grimm and Alicia Masters are finally tying the knot, so celebrate with this very special issue of FF.
Also in, Batman: Damned #2, for all those wondering if it was ever going to come out.
Trades... Judge Dredd: Under Siege - If you like Dredd but feel bogged down by the amount of material out there, IDW do these fun stand-alone Dredd stories that'll be perfect for you.
Amazing Spider-Man vol9 - It might have been released AFTER the first volume of the new run, but the end of Dan Slott's epic run is certainly worth waiting for.
Predator: The Essential Comics - Another one of Dark Horse's epic size collections of older material. If you love Predator but don't have any of the comic stories from back in the day, this £23 collected volume will certainly be up your street.
Also in, Hillbilly vol3, Flash vol8, Go Go Power Rangers vol2 and Star Wars vol9

small in size, big in character. I absolutely love this place and the people that have and still do work there, the more you go in the less it seems like shop and more like going to see your friends.

User

The best comic book shop I've visited! Lovely owner who will do anything in his power to make you feel welcome, kickass comics and geeky merchandise to boot too! Would wholly recommend a visit, the store may be small, but it packs in a whole lot of awesome!

User

Picked up some graphic novels today for a good price very good customer service and although small in scale it's a nice feeling not to be to overwhelmed by choice they have all the essentials needed to get started with reading comics an art form that demands you attention highly recommended

User

I nipped in on the off chance as I just happened to be visiting Mansfield. I live in the Isle of Man and it's horrific trying to get comics here, so I tend to google to see if anything exists if I'm ever visiting the UK.

The guy behind the counter was friendly and helpful when I asked for stuff, but left me to my own devices otherwise.

I was so happy rocking up to a comic book store that has a great selection of back issues too. Few and far between these. I'll be back soon, plus will likely buy online if it's a possibility.

Cheers
