About Haddon Hall

Haddon Hall is sadly closed until we are able to open again. We look forward to seeing you again and wish you the best during this very difficult time.

Haddon Hall Description

Medieval and Tudor manor house, open to visitors. Take a step back to our unique Tudor kitchens, imagine great feasts in our Banqueting Hall, and stroll through the 17th Century Long Gallery - the most modern room in the house!

Terraced gardens, redesigned by Chelsea Gold Medal Winner, Arne Maynard. Fabulous herbaceous borders bursting with colour and wildflower strips. The Bowling Green terrace is Arne's more recent project to be transformed into an Elizabethan knot garden with borders brimming with traditional plants used for dying and medicines.

The Haddon Restaurant serves locally sourced food, and is open to all, whether you visit the Hall or not.

The Gatehouse Gift Shop sells a wide range of gifts, and is prides itself on stocking unusual and local lines.

We had our first visit 20th April 2018 - the hall and gardens are beautiful. The staff that work there are exceptional in care and welcoming, my partner was recovering from a broken leg and had a little discomfort however from the car park attendant to staff at the hall they could not do enough to help, so much so we upgraded to regular visitors and look forward to many wonderful days out there. Cannot thank the staff enough for being kind, considerate and friendly ´┐Ż

User

We came last night with friends for an evening meal followed by a tour of the hall. It was absolutely perfect! The main courses were beautifully cooked and lovely and hot. The desserts were truly scrumptious! The hall was beautifully decorated for Christmas using a theme of Christmas Carols, and it was especially festive as we were able to see it all by candlelight. We were made to feel very welcome by all concerned. Thank you to everyone at Haddon Hall for giving us the most wonderful start to our Christmas festivities.

The most organized medieval kitchen, beautiful gardens and friendly guides

User

Such a beautiful house in a wonderful location. A fascinating history with a lovely warm and relaxed atmosphere, and none of the formality that is found in corporate stately homes. The guides were informative and friendly. The restaurant was also superb.

User

Our visit to Haddon Hall on 26th March 2018 was amazing. So nice to see the Halls rooms untouched and in their original state from many years ago! Beautiful tapestries and furniture so well preserved. It has an aura of medieval charm about it!! Staff were very friendly & knowledgeable!! Well worth a visit.

User

My family and I visited Haddon Hall as I had won a competition..It is a beautiful place in a beautiful setting..we also tried the restaurant which was lovely too.

We also had a guided tour with the artist Nik Ramage, who's art had been on display "shadows and whispers". Nik himself and all the staff were very lovely and were knowledgeable.

Will be visiting again. Thankyou.

User

I'm 48 now but can remember a school trip when i was about 9 lol this place has stayed in my memories all this time :) beautiful place so full of awe and wonder xx

User

Have wanted to visit Haddon Hall for a very long time and it finally happened yesterday. The lady in the ticket office was very welcoming and knowledgeable. Noted that I used a walking stick and highlighted that there were a lot of steps and uneven floors. Don't let this put you off there are a lot chairs sprinkled around for you to rest. I had lunch in the restaurant. The chicken supreme.... delicious followed by ... what else but Bakewell pudding and custard ... divine. Walked around the house and garden. The views from the gardens are spectacular. The house is well preserved and well worth the visit. Will definitely recommend it to friends. Thanks Haddon.

User

Beautiful place! I visit once a year. Very peaceful with friendly staff. Afternoon Tea in the Haddon restaurant is a must. We couldn't finish it and the friendly lady boxed it up for us to take home. Highly recommended place.

User

Amazing!!! Staff are very welcoming and very informative, there's always someone around who's happy to answer questions. The floors are very uneven and I saw a few people trip over so it's best to wear suitable shoes.

User

Although it is a really beautiful old house , my friends and I were disappointed to be charged an extra £3 for parking the car. I can understand that they don't want folk parking there to go for a walk but surely if you buy tickets to visit the Hall this could be refunded.

The labelling is not very clear being on small brass plates which reflect the light.

However, the staff are lovely and well informed, and the hall and gardens are stunning.

User

After 45 years of waiting to go to Haddon Hall, I finally went last week. It was absolutely worth the wait. There was something else that made my jaw drop around every corner, although my favourite bit was the great chamber. The layers of history in the place were fascinating, and I liked the fact that I was free to wander as I wished, but if there was something I wanted to ask, there was someone there more than happy to help. The restaurant was fantastic, and not at all overpriced.

My son's best bit was the sign on the door to the disabled toilet asking people to leave the door open when finished for the swallows nesting in there.

Magical - I will have to come back in the summer now!

User

Absolutely stunning, inside and out!! I highly recommend taking a tour. The hosts are very well informed and you'll get the little bits of historical facts that may of been missed without their knowledge. A lovely space to sit with the family and have a picnic but the cafe definitely gives value for money. With Bakewell just a couple of miles away for a walk around the shops and a couple of ales in the pubs it was the perfect husband and wife day.

User

Absolutely fantastic visit. Gardens in full bloom; choir was a bonus, very helpful guides and the buggy service allows everyone to see the beautiful buildings and gardens. čśŐ

User

Had a fabulous day out today with my mum neither of us has been for a number of years and we loved the visit. The only down side was the tea we had the cream scone was lovely but the tea was very weak with only one tea bag offered maybe we caught them on a bad day, other than that we loved it

User

Amazing and authentic place. Able to get close to everything with very few restrictions. Much better experience for me than Chatsworth House. The only niggle were the bizarre and often noisy modern art sculptures scattered throughout which I thought detracted from the overall feel of the place.

User

Such a beautiful location and Manor House. Unfortunately, complete lack of interaction with the public. No one on hand to tell you more about the history and the ÔÇśentertainmentÔÇÖ was nonexistent. They were not friendly, didnÔÇÖt speak and looked like they werenÔÇÖt having a good day. Such a shame. So much more that could be done. ┬ú15.75 to get i to the venue is absolutely ridiculous too. Just not worth it.

User

What lovely old trees around the Hall.

Unfortunately the old trees on the edge of my garden are for the chop by the Haddon Hall vandals .´┐Ż´┐Ż´┐Ż´┐Ż´┐Ż´┐Ż´┐Ż´┐Ż´┐Ż´┐Ż´┐Ż´┐Ż´┐Ż´ ┐Ż´┐Ż´┐Ż´┐Ż´┐Ż´┐Ż´┐Ż´┐Ż´┐Ż´┐Ż´┐Ż
