myself and my fiancé stayed at hallmark hotel carlise, monday 19/3/18 room was beautiful bed was huge and so comfortable evening meal and breakfast was lovely, staff are so friendly and helpful,we would def recommend it to everyone,we will def be staying again,,,,,

User

The service was not good until I complained. I asked for a bacon roll but they didn’t do them as they’re not on the menu. This was 9.40am. After using Facebook to communicate with the manager, I received a free bacon roll! Brilliant and I wax a happy customer. The lady behind the bar Georgia was very good and sorted it out. So it was terrible when I went in but they turned it round. Well done

Had our wedding here on 30th May and everything was just perfect. From the day we 1st looked around right through to the wedding day itself the staff were so friendly and helpful. The venue was perfect the food was amazing and nothing was too much trouble for them. Can't recommend this hotel enough.

User

A lovely place to stay! My husband and I stayed at the hotel for the night and had a great time. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, we thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal and the staff made us feel very welcome and relaxed, we will definitely return.

User

2nd visit to this little Gem of a hotel. Stayed for dinner, bed and breakfast and once again was thrilled with every aspect of the stay. Special mention to staff in restaurant for brilliant service and friendliest attitude. Waitress Tasha made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble for her despite it being late. So big thanks to Tasha for making our stay so enjoyable. Location is fabulous for night life and train station directly outside. Rooms remain clean and comfortable but still a little tired looking however we did notice renovations were taking place. We will definatley visit again and have no hesitation in reccommending to others. Enjoy

I've been for 2 events now which were brilliant first was the Pink Tribute which included a 3 course meal & a complimentary drink. The staff were absolutely lovely I am allergic to peppers & Liam got me some gravy for my meal which meant a lot. A lady called Julie was so lovely she made sure I was having a good night & the singer was amazing. Then I was there last night for The Full Monty vs Magic Mike which was brilliant Georgi behind reception was lovely she was really polite & helped me with my queries I hope she enjoys her promotion definitely well deserved. Also big thank you to Mike on the upstairs bar who remembered me from last time he is always so lovely & friendly even when people were being rude he didn't let it affect his work or smile bless him, thank you for making my complimentary drink that someone had drank before I arrived I appreciated it. The strippers were brilliant & very good looking as was Connor the singer it was definitely worth the money, the only issue I had was the speaker kept making a horrible noise & I was sat right next to it (can't help technical issues though) & the show didn't start when I thought it was going too so had a bit of a wait but otherwise everything else was great thank you. I can't wait for the next event now I'll definitely be back again .

I went to the Christmas lunch today, a party of 11, 5 kids and 6 adults. We all had a fabulous day. We were met by Mrs Claus who showed us to our table where there were Santa hats for kids, crackers, little box of goodies for the kids too. Paper, envelopes and an assortment of pens, stickers etc where given out to the kids to write their letters to Santa. The food was great and lots of it. After a very enjoyable meal we were led by Mrs Claus to a private visit with Santa in his grotto. Santa was lovely and seemed to love being mobbed by 5 excited kids. Presents were given to each child, wrapped and with a personal name tag. We all had a brilliant day and look forward to doing the same next year. Well done staff of Hallmark

User

when I visited yesterday 26th April there was a gypsies wedding reception goin on not a good start.

the place was packed with kids running riot and the staff were trying to control these kids

on the night around 10.30 the kids were running up and down the bedroom corridors screaming.

I was in one of the bedrooms on the front so I heard all the shouting and fighting outside reception, in my room

at around 2 in the morning someone knocked on my door and I shouted at them they have the room room this startled me.

the food was lovely dinner and breakfast

the rooms need decorating and updating

the staff were nice and had there hands full with the wedding reception

User

We stayed here in January. The room we had was very small and very basic. The food and the staff were lovely

User

There are 2 words that sum it up - DATED and AVERAGE

Stayed here for 1 night on the 22/07/18 with my partner.

***GOOD***

As far as location goes, it's perfect.

Right outside the train station entrance, and right in the town centre close to everything.

The staff are lovely and helpful.

The shower was powerful and hot.

The reception area was welcoming.

The beer/ales are nice.

Without being a clean freak, everything was 'clean enough'

TV and coffee making facilities in room.

***BAD***

Not worth the £108 we paid. Cheaper and better elsewhere, will try the IBIS next time.

Doors slam in the corridors in the middle of the night.

Old sash windows only open a short way thus not letting much fresh air in.

The room was ridiculously hot, not helped by the hot muggy weather.

No fan supplied.

No air conditioning installed.

Breakfast was mediocre. Fairly good choice but just mediocre. The restaurant ran out of BUTTER half way through the morning so my toast got left, same as everyone else's.

The restaurant was again really hot. When you see people wafting their faces with the menus and using hand fans, you know it's not just you.

Restaurant and bedroom furniture was very dated.

Shower was very hard to turn off and stop the flow and the controls are also very dated. Those with limited hand grip / disabilities would not be able to turn it off at all.

You can hear the trains and tannoy announcements as early at 0500hrs, which you will do with the windows open due to the room being boiling.

Pillows are pathetic and thin.

The temporary metal ramp outside the front door was very slippy.

If you're not careful, you can smack your head off the glass shelf above the sink in the bathroom (I managed not to).

Would I stay again? Yes. But not in summer. And only if everywhere else was full. I'd probably skip the breakfast too.

User

The bedrooms are a bit tired, I was given a room on the third floor, the lift was broken and according to a notice on the ground floor it had been for 3 days so I had to carry my suitcase up the stairs.

Door closers did not work properly, doors were slamming shut hard and loud late into the night.

The walkway to the car park was greasy from the adjacent properties rubbish bins and was actually a very poor single track road, a really good jetwash or better still a more direct rear entrance would be a great asset.

In general the maintenance of the building appeared to be somewhat lacking.

Monday 4th December myself and my wife had an overnight stay Christmas shopping room 219

The room was spotlessly clean the bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve slept in

We admit the rooms are a bit dated but it is an old building

The lounge bar and reception were clean n tidy and got to admit the food was great my wife had the steak and a had burger huge portions the 2 staff members serving us were amazing couldn’t do enough for us

The only downside was it was like a sauna in the building and ur adjoining onto the rail station

Note you are nearby for bus and rail links plenty shops walking distance plenty take away shops and bars

User

25 minuets just to be asked what we wanted for our 3 course meal. Then due to the wait we got a complementary glass of wine. Food lived up to its name but service was appalling. I don’t think we will be back to the carlisle hallmark any time soon.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. We booked 2 nights away for our anniversary with an itison voucher which was 2 night bed and breakfast with dinner on first night. We think we got the smallest place in the hotel When we arrived we were told it was £10 a night to park the car which I thought was ridiculous as we were staying at the hotel. Then we booked into the smallest room I’ve ever seen we could only walk around the bed with no other space and a very small window which didn’t let in much light. Think it has been a cupboard. The bathroom was very dated and the toilet made a loud noise every time we flushed it. The bed had a slope from the side into the middle so we hardly slept as we both ended up in the middle. The room was too warm and if we opened the window we could hear the noise from train st. We then got ready and went to the restaurant for our evening meal. We arrived at 6.50pm and were seated straight away but they did not take our drinks order until 7.20pm and another 20 mins before they took our food order. Another group told us they had been waiting over an hour for their food order to be taken. The food arrived we had the soup which wasn’t very nice but the burger was ok. The staff were not very pleasant and never asked if we needed sauce or more drinks. After a horrible sleep we got up for breakfast which wasn’t any better. Staff were very lazy or didn’t have a clue. After them asking me if I wanted tea or coffee and they brought my husband coffee I still had to ask for my tea 15 mins later. The toaster wasn’t even plugged in so I had to go under the table and plug it in which the staff didn’t seem to bothered about. The food wasn’t very nice and the staff were not very friendly. Think the hotel needs up dated and the staff need to be either trained in the hotel industry or be replaced with competent staff. On our second night we obviously ate out and was treated with more respect than we did at the hotel. We felt as though we were a nuisance and everything they had to do for us was just too much for them. Definitely wil not be back. My husband never complains and he even found it a disgrace that we were treated like that.

I visited with a friend a couple of weeks ago for afternoon tea, I was very disappointed in it. Firstly our booking had been forgotten and was not ready for us at all. We did get a choice of sandwiches which were freshly made and very nice. The scones and cakes however were awful, it was clear that they had been frozen which would have been fine if they had been defrosted before they were served to us. The scones were stale and hard. We complained and were offered it at half price but even so £10 a head for a cup of tea and a sandwich is steep!

I do have to say though the man serving behind the bar was very nice and polite.

User

Where do I start - took about 2 hours for our dinner, starter ok, both mains awful, not as described, bits and pieces missing, came to deliver our mains and starters hadn't been cleared, had to go find the restaurant duty manager to complain before mains cleared and dessert menus delivered, apparantly chef not happy about complaint, had time to go not once but twice to the car for things we forgot between mains and dessert, staff very unattentive and not interested, our room roasting hot as only 2 out of 3 windows opened, disco/karaoke boom boom noise until 2am, constant cars down alleyway all night, then bottle bank emptied about 7am, breakfast awful, juice warm, cereal stale, bread only, no breakfast pastries (not just run out but don't do), did get reduction on checkout but even though will never use again and definitely not recommend, stay away!

User

Went to the madonna tribute night last night and I'm so disappointed with the whole night! From the food (chicken was black- as was other people's) the drink that was given as an apology to people that was clearly begrudge and slammed down on our table. The mannerism of ALL the waiting staff apart from a lady who I spoke to and complained (she was lovely and so helpful and apologetic ) then as lovely as "madonna " seemed - I thought she would have sung ALL songs by madonna and not songs by other artists in the second half?? The whole night was so dragged out and as we started to talk to other people- it became apparent that we were not tell only ones to be bored and disappointed! I don't think I'd go to another event here- unless everything above is addressed

User

Me and my 2 cousins where at the Hallmark Hotel last night for a Madonna Tribute night, it was Bad from Start to finish!, we waited a long time between courses and when the food arrived it wasn't very nice, the singer came on and sang Madonna in the first half but then came back on and started singing songs from different artists which we found strange as it was meant to be a Madonna Night? And to top it all off there was a fight!!..a lot of people walked out and Complaind..Not good at all..it use to be a good Hotel but I'm afraid it's gone down Hill

User

Here right now this ranks as the worst hotel I have ever been in seriously it’s a dump smell of damp, rooms are tatty. Bus party of OAP in at 5:30 no one to help 1 lift that takes4 people, front door closed at 11 no one answering and no answer at reception telephone , get to room and TV remote has 1 battery so no TV I know call reception but it’s 11:45 and they can’t answer the door never mind find a battery. Avoid this like the plague unless you want it.
