We did mini handstands in our baby yoga class today. As it was these 2 little yogis second term and being 7 months old we thought we'd do this mini inversion. The supported handstand allows pressure to be placed on the hands, assisting propreception and also great for stretching out the spine too. Babies love going upside down in play and little inversions like these are a great introduction to inversions. Ready for a bigger one next week 😁

All our baby yoga babies enjoy playing aeroplanes with their mummies. Of course this game is modified for babies but just as much fun. I would love to see your photos of playing aeroplanes with your babies. I'll post mine in the comments....

Look at those sleepy eyes 😴 mummy massaged him to sleep. What better way to spend a Thursday morning?
Massage really helps relax both baby and parent with a big boost of oxytocin sending us feeling sleepy, relaxed and drowsy with love ❤

Today we used sensory scarves for breathing and relaxation at the end of our baby yoga session.
As we breathe in.... we take scarves up.
As we breathe out.... we float the scarves down, over baby.
... This is great because the breathing slows down your actions, becoming more mindful and also engaging baby at the same time 😍

My tagline for Happy Sleepy Baby is soothe, settle, sleep but why?
I came up with this one day when I had just had my second baby. I was in the midst of my baby massage training and was using Trudy as my Guinea pig. It was then that I could really witness the magic of baby massage. I used the tummy massage to soothe her wind throughout the day. I used massage on an evening as part of her bedtime routine to boost her melatonin and make her sleepy (boy was a grateful for that... one). Whenever she would get upset we would sit down/stand up (depending on her preference) and I would gently massage her back whilst she was up on my shoulder and it would settle her by having that much needed contact.
My business is my third baby and everything I teach is through love, personal experience and a desire to support families.

Oh be still my ovaries!!! How beautiful is this?
This little man arrived for his baby massage with his mummy whilst in the midst of a leap. You can imagine he wasn't in the greatest mood and certainly being held was the order of the day.
However, his mummy did manage a little back massage whilst having a wonderful cuddle. ... Massage doesn't have to be all about laying flat on the floor for a long period of time. It can be little snippets, being held near mum's chest.
I love back combing to settle babies. It is so soothing and it can be just what babies need whilst battling through their latest leaps. A little positive touch with a lot of love ❤

How true is this quote from Stephen King? The unknown is scary.
As the new term begins and many of my new courses begin again I know there are many mums who will be gearing themselves up to attend my classes. I completely understand why too as I'll let you into a secret , I get anxious myself. There are many mummies who attend my baby massage and baby yoga classes whom I have never met before. I have no idea who is going to be on the other side of the door when I hear that f...irst knock. But those first session nerves are nothing compared to those mums who have struggled to get out of the door in the first place with a baby in tow, found their way to my class and prepared to learn a new skill and meet other mums. The fear of doing something wrong, saying the wrong thing or their baby crying throughout the session are common. All feelings and emotions are valid and most likely felt by the majority in the class.
Anxiety is something that affects so many new mums and unfortunately post natal depression can strike too making you feel trapped and judged. Please remember that #itsoknottobeok
My classes are small, friendly and always, always safe and free of judgment. It is a place where an ear or shoulder is available. If you are wanting to come to a class but that fear of the unknown is holding you back, please do contact me and I will be happy to chat through any concerns. If a social situation is something that you need to avoid right now then I am always happy to come and share the magic of baby massage and baby yoga with you on a one to one basis.

I saw this and thought it was so true. I love taking pictures of mummies and their babies in my classes for exactly this reason. You end up with so many photos of the children but never you. Going to classes such as baby massage and baby yoga are times to treasure and I'm blessed to be able to capture those beautiful, precious moments of love and connection which you can look back on.
