What an amazing weekend we’ve had here!! My two best friends just got married here!! (30th June 2018) I was honoured to be apart of their special day from the moment we got to Hellidon Lakes on Friday night to setting up the wedding breakfast to little things we asked for during the day/night and everything in between! The operation managers to the waitering staff were amazing, so patient, helpful and always asked us if everything was ok! There is one person In particular id like to mention her name was Gemma!! She was amazing! She was so friendly, very professional throughout the whole day, got what the bride and groom wanted, she was always on the other end of the phone when we needed her, literally up to the wedding and on the day!

We invited the staff to come join us on the dance floor and in which a few did! It was a lovely atmosphere! Thankyou all so much!

The views from the terrace, that looked over the golf course and lake were amazing and the photographer had a field day with all the shots he took from day into the night!

The food was lovely! We had a few choices from the menus and each one was lovely! We all enjoyed it! The kids menu was just enough on the plate for them too!

The room was soo clean and air conditioned! It was nice very to relax in after the heat we had throughout the day!

The entertainment was very different as we had a few hours of bowling and even that was lovely and cool! The kids absolutely loved it!

I would definitely recommend this venue for weddings! It was a pleasure to be there and helping the staff along the way up to and on the wedding day! My friends had amazing experience in which they will never forget!!

Thank you all

Rebecca (chief bridesmaid)

We have had a fantastic Easter Weekend at the Hellidon Lakes, the hotel us set in a stunning beautiful tranquil location, all the staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We had breakfast included in our tariff and also stayed in the hotel for the evening meals which were top quality food. Good Friday we did plan to explore the area but spent time in the spa and relaxed, just what we needed. The only sound we heard was the geese. We are planning our next spa break abreast

User

We had our wedding reception at Hellidon Lakes in April and we had a fantastic day! The room was beautiful and the whole team were so dedicated in making the day wonderful for us. All our guests commented on the venue, food and atmosphere. A very big thankyou to Michaela, Daniel and the rest of the team. :)

User

Visited today as a friend brought me a voucher. Whilst the spa is outdated a little the staff and their bright breezy attitude more than make up for it...i had a deep tissue massage. WOW... very very good..Lisa ( i think) was very skilled knowledgeable and lovely.

The young lady behind the bar was also most lovely... as was the food we ordered i would definately return . Thank you

User

Lovely overnight spa weekend break .. beautiful views over the golf course, the quality of the food included in the price was excellent as was the spa treatment of all over salt scrub & back massage ... all the staff were helpful & very friendly, nothing was too much trouble ... would definitely visit again

User

Having recently photographed a wedding at this venue I thought I should give a review! Absoloutley gorgeous venue surrounded by fantastic greenery which is absoloutley perfect for photographs. If you are looking for a picture perfect place, I would highly recommend and the staff that I came across were extremely helpful and kind! There is also a golf buggy which is great for some more humorous images and stops you ruining your dress on the way to the waterfall! @sophieannphotographyuk

User

just got back from my hen do at hellidon lakes hotel and spa x 12 of us arrived and they probably thought omg !! but it was totally different. Lisa at the spa/pool reception was amazing and very helpful. she even managed to get us our own little private room for the evening to meet in and play games x the treatments were amazing . there was only really one downfall and that was the freezing pool and jaquzi. they did warn us but the temperature was very cold x and the pool area was a bit small x but it didn't spoil anything x the food was amazing and the grounds were stunning x sorry if we made too much noise. would defo recommend. x one happy bride to be x

User

Nice twin room with lovely bathroom. Excellent spa treatment from the lovely Donna. Breakfast excellent - lots of choice and really nice Daniel she pastries. Pool area too small- too many guests for space and one massive family who hogged everything. Bento lunch very nice. Only real issue was dinner which was disappointing- not given what was advertised and when I complained, server was snotty and told me’ it was as the chef intended and no one else had complained ‘ she then ignored us for half an hour and stood gossiping with other staff at door. This ruined my evening and I went up to our room in tears. I felt I was being punished for complaining. This was not typical of the stay as the rest of the staff were super friendly and helpful.

If it’s on the menu as crisp sage leaves, serve sage leaves, if I am promised triple fried chips, I want them and not potato wedges - the same as were served at breakfast, I noticed. Apologise to me for not serving the dish on the menu and don’t make it sound like it was my fault and then ignore me in a passive aggressive fashion.

User

If you are going for a complete spa break, then I would recommend going else where. The pool is freezing and small. There is not enough choice of food for lunch and no one explained to us that we had to go to the bar to get our lunch. You get a better selection off the bar menu! The spa treatments themselves were very enjoyable and the young lady who carried out the treatments was very pleasant. The whole hotel is in need a some TLC. When you could find a member of staff they were very nice, but they need to learn to communicate better. Views out of the restaurant over the golf course are stunning.

User

I have never been to a hotel that there wasn’t a sign to reception but, if there was, it certainly wasn’t noticeable! Room was lovely, spacious and clean with a very comfortable bed. We had a very long wait for our dinner and, when it came, my potatoes were not what I ordered! My husband and daughter-in-law ordered the same meal. Her meat was lovely and my husbands was nothing but fat....... we would have complained but was virtually impossible to catch someone’s eye. They did give us a free round of drinks so not all was lost. As a member of a wedding party, that were spending a considerable amount of money during our 2 night stay, I felt we could be entitled to sit near a window for breakfast instead of being shown to a corner that was very dark as staff couldn’t the light switch!!! It appears only golfers are allowed to sit by the windows........ The wedding meal was quite good and Rob was very efficient. It was lovely to be able sit out late having a drink but, overall as a wedding guest, I would not suggest Hellidon Lakes as my first choice for a wedding venue!!

User

Can not fault the espa staff, treatments were really good and relaxing and staff informative and helpful! Spa is very small and hardly any room for the amount of people in there! The spa lunch and dinner was amazing but breakfast was disappointing, food wasn't kept to temperature and was luke warm! Rooms look dated and in need of some attention! Key card wouldn't work and had to make several visits to reception to sort it (which eventually it was sorted) compared to other q hotels it was a bit of a disappointment

User

Been to many Q Hotels. Would probably rate this as a 3* and not a 4* as currently rated. Beautiful views of the lake, very friendly staff but the rooms need some TLC. Stayed for Dinner & B+B but quite a few dishes on the menu they didn't have. Only fried eggs on offer at breakfast as the egg delivery had been dropped on the ground . Whole of hotel & Spa area looks tired. Would bring to 4* if this was improved.

User

This is purely for golfers 🏌️‍♀️ room was ok waited 15mins to be served at bar people were not happy , bar food very poor offering, went to gym that was ok then swim pool very small steam room was bloody freezing could not believe it LOL 😂 breakfast was just as bad fruit offering not refilled yougurt all gone not good

User

Lady on reception was lovely & friendly, let us into our rooms early. However she failed to tell us where we could go for our lunch (included in our spa package).

Into the spa...Well there’s only 5/6 sun loungers. Pool was freezing & jacuzzi mega hot. Overall spa was tiny. We weren’t provided with robes either. Very large windows with a stunning view. Spoilt by the golfers walking past & staring at us, as they were able to see into the spa!! Don’t really want to be stared at whilst relaxing in my bikini! There was hair everywhere & it wasn’t very clean at all.

Treatment was lovely (but spa for treatments is a different company to the hotel). No complaints there.

Room was lovely but shower flooded bathroom floor. Restaurant we’re brilliant with my allergy & food was really good. Overall a few days away with friends was spoilt by the rubbish spa

User

Fantastic views!..that's about it, place looks a bit tired, really came for a relaxing couple of days using the pool and Jacuzzi...both out of action due to the heating not working..(had been for a coupe of days before we arrived..so why not an email before we got there?) really the only reason for our 2 days break..

We use q hotels a lot..this has been the poorest I am afraid..don't get me started on the bowling..£25 for an hour! Staff are great though, and breakfast was ok.

Will be looking for a full refund..

User

interesting layout of a course but the worst greens I have every played on. from a hotel point of view , service was slow , checkin , bar and dining room . they actually ran out of orange juice at breakfast ! food quality was ok but very expensive

User

Visited hellidon lakes spa last week for a birthday treat from my boyfriend. When arriving everything was lovely, apart from then getting into a freezing cold pool with a random hose in the water “filling the water levels back up”, I had a treatment done in the spa with my boyfriend. Immediately after I have come up in a rash and inflamed spots all over my lower cheeks and neck. Contacted the spa only to be told it was nothing to do on their behalf and to visit a doctor. A week later after doctors visits and medication, I am still left with a rash and inflamed spots still. Re contacted spa but no reply and also Daventry environmental health as this spa is unhygienic. Avoid at all costs!!!!!

User

My friend had his wedding here a few weeks ago and a couple of us came early to help with the set up. Turns out it's good that we did because when we arrived the reception room was still full of stuff from a previous wedding!

Staff didn't seem to have been briefed on anything that had been agreed with the venue. There weren't enough tables out (we found them ourselves), enough tablecloths and the layout was wrong. When saying to a member of staff that they hadn't brought out enough of the agreed table decorations he wandered off swearing under his breath!

The situation with the ceremony room was very similar. Chairs had been placed at the front without covers/decoration on, making it look very shabby. We even had to straighten the central carpet because it was crumpled, making a trip hazard. The staff member in charge of the entrance music turned it on too late and then it was so quiet that it could barely be heard.

Really not impressed with the organisation, and to hear that the general manager has been entirely uncooperative with the couple following this is extremely disappointing.

User

I came here on a spa day in January when we got here they told us the pool had a electrical fault it wasn’t good as we came all the way from Leicester. We also had spa treatments booked in and when we had them we didn’t have the full time when I told the lady she said that’s all we would get they cut us off by 10 minutes. Once we complained about it all they offered us to come back again free if charge just to use the pool etc but nothing on the spa treatments when we paid full price we yet again came back on the free one to find out the sauna wasn’t working so over all not very happy. We will not be recommending this place to anyone and will never return again

Will be looking for a full refund..

interesting layout of a course but the worst greens I have every played on. from a hotel point of view , service was slow , checkin , bar and dining room . they actually ran out of orange juice at breakfast ! food quality was ok but very expensive
