The Inspirational Volunteer group winner was The Bosworth Explorers, a group of adult volunteers, with physical and mental health challenges, who have achieved fantastic results this year, holding major events to promote our local heritage and history. They have achieved life skills qualifications, and personal development whilst volunteering - their ability to overcome personal challenges has been amazing.

Looking outside, it is hard to believe it is forecast to be very warm and sunny this Saturday for our Annual Armed Forces Service and Parade. We will be providing some gazebos in the mead for shade during the service. Please note there is limited seating therefore bring your camping chairs along. The event will consist of an outdoor service, which will take place in Argents Mead, near the bandstand at 11am. Following the service there will be a parade through Hinckley Town Centre. All welcome. In partnership with the combined Ex-services association. Anyone wishing to attend the service in Argents Mead is respectfully asked to arrive by 10.45am.

The Contributing to our Heritage, Culture and Tourism group winner was 4th Avenue, a local four piece vocal harmony group established in 2018 and, despite all having day jobs and a very full calendar of bookings, do numerous gigs and fund raising for charity. The band has raised a staggering £14,000 in the last 12 months. They create an exciting, vibrant community spirit wherever they perform.

We have Ben Wallace with us this week for his work experience. Ben is helping with the preparations for Armed Forces Day on Saturday and added:
'I am a 17 year who could not be prouder of those individuals who risk their lives in order to keep this country safe. Why not join me to show your support and respect on Saturday June 29 for Armed Forces Day in Argents Mead at 11am. I hope to see you there cheering on our Armed Forces Community'

The Contributing to our Heritage, Culture and Tourism individual winner was Charlotte Walton. This young student dedicates her spare time to preparing summer holiday activities at Hinckley & District Museum to enable children to understand and value our heritage. Charlotte is always smiling and so enthusiastic it rubs off on visitors and other volunteers.

It's a beautiful day and a perfect opportunity to visit Hinckley Town Centre, support your local shops and market and enjoy some free Music in the Mead with 'Prime' from 1pm to 3pm. Prime, a five-piece band will perform classic soul and rock covers. Expect something a bit different, with covers of songs that you will know well but don’t often hear as well as hits from Queen, The Temptations, Stereophonics and Abba. Admission is free, so why not bring a picnic and enjoy some great live music.🎶
