We stayed for 2 nights a couple of weeks ago and it was a beautiful experience, however, on our last night we had to go to Burton hospital as we had a pregnancy scare, we were sent away but on our last day I had to go back to Burton hospital and our little lady Millie Anne Major was born at just 24 weeks + 1 day, 16 weeks early! We hope to come back but with less stress at the end of our trip

We have had a fantastic overnight stay at Hoar Cross for my 40th birthday.

From the moment we checked in the staff could not do enough for us. Our suite was perfect and a lovely touch of a birthday card from staff.

The champagne afternoon tea was delicious,as was our evening meal.

My treatments carried out by Holly were both professional and relaxing. The spa amenities were to the standard we expected.

There was great choice for the breakfast buffet and the lunch in Hugo's was perfect.

If I could give more than five stars I would.

Thank you,we will return.

User

We absolutely loved it last yesterday and last night at HCH, the food was amazing, the room was beautiful, we were blown away at how big and beautiful the room was, the spa was amazing and overall we had a brilliant time, I could not recommend the staff as this spa it’s 5* in every way, thanks guys for making our spa break away such a lovely and memorable occasion xx

User

My friend & I had a great day yesterday. A nice warm welcome, the mid morning cake & smoothie was delicious, lunch was superb with a great selection. The water everywhere was useful but we noticed the cleanliness of the toilets were a little below par in the main building, toilet paper on the floor, why people do that is beyond me but it was left in that state for a good while. hand driers not working in a couple of cubicles the changing room ones however were spotless. Spa facilities, pools etc were clean & the pools warm, could do with larger towels tho. The treatments were wonderful but the treatment rooms were cold, when you are lying there in very little a bit of heat would be very welcome! On the whole a wonderful experience, I think the best visit yet, keep up the good work & we will see you ASAP. Many thanks

User

I came with a friend for the Sunday lunch and the food was amazing as well as the service. When I got back to my car I’d got a flat tyre so my friend and I were trying to fix it (new car so only had tyre sealant, no spare tyre), out of the blue Chris the maintenance man came to the rescue and was an absolute star the tyre was safe enough for us to get home.

Can’t thank him enough for his help, please pass on my thanks to him

Also hope we get the weather we had , To relax in the sun was Perfect on the sun beds looking over the grounds . And the Evening was so warm out side for drinks x

User

Another excellent stay. We stayed as a mini moon after our wedding and were treated very well by the front desk staff!!!! Everything was wonderful with the exception of the waiter noting our order wrong in the evening but the restaurant manager sorted. The chef was very caring and considerate of my husbands intolerances which went a long way and was much appreciated. Treatments were fantastic as were all the staff. Thank you and we will see you again!!!

User

Visited many times over the last 10 years and although I love this place and I know times have to change I feel a lot of the little touches are being lost .

I struggled to relax the last visit as either all the beds were taken or spa etiquette was not being followed and it was too noisy .

I feel everything is at a price now , complimentary tea and coffee has disappeared. The spa breaks cost enough as it is , surely the little perks are included in the price ?

Also the noise in the evening / late night due to a wedding party didn’t help . I know it’s a celebration but maybe have the wedding guest in a separate area to other hotel guest who actually would like some sleep rest and relaxation.

User

Staff polite & friendly.

Rooms a bit tired, pool was good but the cave part & 2 circulor parts didn’t seem to work.

Information stated breakfast was till 11am but when came down @ 10.45 was told it finished at 10.30, not happy but they admitted info was wrong & we were given breakfast at Henry’s (which was very nice).

NOT impressed with testing the fire alarm at 7.50am on a Saturday morning.

But overall ok.

Gardens amazing & can’t thank the hairdresser (blonde curly hair, Sorry didn’t get your name) for helping me curl my hair & putting it half up, she was very pleasant & nice.

We will return as despite some hiccups we did enjoy our stay & all problems were rectified.

User

Just returned from an overnight stay.

I would of given a 5 if it wasn’t for a few improvements needed in the spa.

The food- it was fabulous, the menus have been updated since our last visit and had a variety of choice. It’s the best food we have received and we have visited 4 times now.

Rooms - clean and tidy good sized bed. A few Elemis products in the room for you which is a nice touch.

Staff - friendly and polite/helpful to our needs.

The spa - one of the pools had a massage pressure point hanging off the wall with loose screws. Not visible unless wanting to use it as it’s in the actual pool.

The pool could of done with a clean as lots of bits floating and ladies hair clumps. some of the water pressure pumps wasn’t working so we decided to use the other pool which we found to be warmer and cleaner. The spa itself is lovely, lots of rooms to unwind and plenty of areas for relaxation. It’s one of my favourite spas.

Treatments- very nice - would recommend the facial and back massage.

Just a few improvements needed within the spa, however it didn’t spoil our stay.

We will definitely be returning later in the year.

User

I having been visiting hoar cross hall regularly for 20 years but at have to say I’m disappointed that the free drinks have gone and they won’t £2 95 for a cup of tea plus losing a day when you can’t get in till three and to add insult to injury they want £75 for a facial think you will out price yourself for the ordinary people I used to come four times a year it’s one or two now and you do have completion now so I’d be careful

User

I have been using the day spa at hoar cross hall for 15 years and had high expectations for my first overnight stay. I would not stay overnight again as although the room was lovely and the staff and food were fantastic, the whirlpool bath didn’t work even after we asked someone to look at it while we were at dinner and I also think it makes the day more awkward having to check out at 11 and move all your things to the day spa to finish your day. Checking in at 3pm means you don’t get much more time the night before anyway. I’ll stick to the day spa in future

User

HCH is my favourite place , but I just feel it’s losing the nice touch’s that it used to have, free tea and coffee used to be in several areas and gradually has been taken away.

We used to be able to check in from mid morning but now it’s 3pm which means most of the day has gone, so we paid the £40 each to check in from 11am, but added onto the price of the suite (only room available to book) it makes it even more expensive. The suite was huge but mostly wasted space and needed updating especially the bathroom. Although I know it’s ongoing progress and will take time.

We try to go each year, I do love the look of the place and the food is always amazing.

Staff were friendly as always. I did find that it was rowdier than usual and people sunbathing on the lawns isn’t exactly what you expect to find at hch.

Maybe more loungers would rectify this.

We will go back but not sure we will continue to do so if it changes much more.

Nice to see Mr Joynes and his family at dinner

User

First visit with my 81yr old mother. It took a day to work out where everything was as it’s a huge complex.... lift arrangements a little archaic as there is no straight forward way to get to areas. All staff were pleasant and courteous and very helpful. The rooms were neat and tidy. The ballroom was closed so all meals were at Hugo’s. Lunch and dinner were great but breakfast was a little disappointing. Buffet style and luke warm. Treatments were excellent and staff professional. Pool areas were okay although pool was a little cool. First day at spa was awkward as no chairs for Mum to sit and relax were all taken with towels draped over them. However the next day we had no problem. Overall satisfied, would have liked a run down at Reception as to what was available in the spa area and workshops available during our stay.

User

This was my first spa experience and overall I thought it was very good. The overnight stay wasn’t great and left a lot to be desired. The bath tub wasn’t working and none of the jets had any power which was disappointing. When asked to fix them we had no resolution. Also I feel that the room could have been cleaned to a higher standard. However the spa resources and food were excellent. The treatments we received were great and the staff were very friendly and provided a great service.

Overall I would recommend a spa day but not a residential visit.

User

Reception staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for us!

Treatments and Elemmis staff were also brilliant. Had 2 treatments and both ladies (forget their names) were so good!

Spa reception staff on my first day were a little rude. Different staff for the second day who were very helpful.

Food was beautiful throughout my stay, although we asked for halal options prior to our stay and they only had 1chicken breast for the first night then nothing for the rest of our stay, which was disappointing.

Rooms fixtures and fittings were extremely dirty!! Which is also disappointing considering how much we paid.

Room was nice and spacious with a pleasant view.

Chlorine in pool area was so strong that it hurt my eyes. I was unable to sit there for too long.

But apart from those the points it was a lively stay. And I would certainly go again.

User

We went for afternoon tea, and the food was very good, however we were put in the main entrance longe and bar and sat very low on a sofa with a very low table in front of us which was hard to reach and very uncomfortable. We felt like second class citizens with people in robes and wet hair walking past , we asked if we could sit in the empty dining room but were denied. Very poor service won’t be going there again.😡

User

I was disappointed with our spa day today. It was far to over crowded and what was supposed to be a special day for us relaxing, wasn't. I'm 34 weeks pregnant and tried to change my vouchers till after the baby has arrived but couldn't so as I was restricted on what I could do anyway I would of liked to have been able to lie in one of the quiet areas. Every time we went to look all the beds and pods were full with only the wooden ones around the pool free where it was too hot and uncomfortable. Therefore the only place to relax was on the sofas in the quiet area or at reception with everyone else who couldn't find any where to go.

User

Hoarcross Hall, where to start. In one word, dated.....but in areas they seem to be rectifying this. Stayed for two nights in room 330, small corner room. Decor needs updating, it must be from the 80s/90s. The wow factor of a jacuzzi bath is old, especially when you sacrifice having a shower for one standing in the bath, I’m 6 foot, not that tall but this was awkward. Continuing with the room. No ironing board so I requested one on the first night, it was broken and spilled water all over the place, second one arrived l, also broken. I was then informed they had none that didn’t leak. Second day, returned to room after spa, cleaner had only done half a job. Towels were removed from bathroom but no new ones provided, and no idea why the toilet roll was removed and none replaced. However, the best was still to come. We went to bed about 10, and around 11/11.30 the fire alarm went off!!!! But wait, after lasting only a few seconds, it went off, only to come back on at 5 in the morning. I was hoping for an apology as I past reception, or a note informing us of the issue, but no, I had to ask what was wrong. The receptionist told me there was a fault, I just wish they had fixed the fault at 11, so it didn’t go off again at 5. Bedroom done. Now the spa. Some areas new some dated. New areas are great, but the quite / snooze room is right next to the staff area/restaurant and the doors banging does not make it quiet, quite the opposite. Broken or just not appearing to work, is how I would sum up the spa. In one room, the long pool room, I count 7 things not working. Restaurant, good food, but due to it being busy some of the dishes were gone by the time we got there, this can be expected, however, not being informed that meals were off the menu is just bad service, we waited for 10/15 min for service only to be told both dishes were wanted were not available, yet were on the menu and had not be told when sat down. This then happened again with deserts. Simple customer service. I could continue, but in all, this was our 1 year wedding anniversary and for what was meant to be a relaxing stay turned out to be less relaxing and thanks to the fire alarm I am more tired now then when I arrived. I am writing this review with still one day to go, I hope it gets better, probably not.
