Hykeham Sailing Club Description

Sailing
Racing takes place on Sundays from the end of March to Boxing Day. Wednesday evening races run from May to September. Sunday racing starts at 11. 30 with a single start handicap then class racing in the afternoon. The Wednesday series is a single start Handicap race lasting about an hour and followed by a drink at the bar – not compulsory but many find it it a pleasant way of rounding off the evening! The Club has developed its Junior Sailing Section which now has Toppers & the new RS Tera to assist with the Club’s policy of encouraging and supporting Youth Sailing.
The club also provides facilities to help people get into sailing by providing Training Courses, Taster Days and Improver Sessions.
Casual sailing is available throughout the year and there are Saturday sessions with safety boat cover for those who wish to enjoy a bit of relaxing sailing with like minded people.
Hykeham Sailing Club is also proud to provide special facilities to enable people with virtually any disability to enjoy sailing through the Sailability scheme. See http://www. hykehamsailability.com

Clubhouse and facilities
We have a Clubhouse erected October 2007 & a substantial decked area completed in May 2008. The Clubhouse has a kitchen & bar which operates on race days, Wednesday evenings & various other Social events. We serve hot & cold drinks, food & snacks. Male and Female changing rooms have toilets & showers. Plenty of space & seating for ‘wet’ sailors to rest and a ‘dry’ lounge for spectators. Our boat park has space for approximately 160 boats.

History
The Club was formed in 1985 by the amalgamation of Lindum SC and Rustons SC which had both occupied the water since the early 1960’s but from separate premises. Rustons old Clubhouse is now used by the Lincoln Scout Group. The pit owners Butterley Aggregates granted a Lease to the Club which is now being extended to 2027 by the current owners CEMEX.

Please share as as widely as possible, none of us want to see a repeat of the Stoke On Trent lake incident where a young teenager has lost his life simply by trying to have fun with his pals.
