Inspirational Volunteer Journeys

About Inspirational Volunteer Journeys

Inspirational Volunteer Journeys is a unique exchange of wisdom, culture, learning and skills that tackle global poverty and truly changes lives.

Inspirational Volunteer Journeys Description

IVJ offers people a unique opportunity to volunteer in some of the worlds most challenging regions.

The programmes we support have been selected because they are amongst the best directed and most innovative when it comes to delivering real world solutions to problems that are all too real. IVJ projects empower people, helping to take skills and knowledge right into the heart of the communities that stand to benefit. Our emphasis is on creating lasting change both in our target communities and in the volunteers we send to work with them.

All IVJ placements combine on-the-ground engagement with integrated training for a recognised ILM qualification. Our mix of vocational as well as experiential personal development sets us apart in our field. As does our commitment to personal coaching and online learning with some of the most respected practitioners in their field.

Key to finding the Inspirational Volunteer Journey that will allow you to do the most good whilst using and developing your own skills is a knowledgeable staff and a well defined placement process. IVJ prides itself on having both.

The New Youth Parliament has set out to be the change it wants to see in Montserrat!
The Youth Parliament Camp was an overwhelming success where 16 young people spent 3 days at the Wild Lotus Camp in Woodlands to begin work to form the new Youth Parliament and to hammer out new policies that will improve the lives of young people and the wider community in Montserrat.
... We would like to give a special thanks to our guest speakers including Honourable Shirley Osborne, Honourable Gregory Willock, Dr. Sammy Joseph and Mr. Colin Fergus.

Hurricane? What hurricane?! Our Youth Exchange participants working hard before hurricane Maria passes Montserrat.

Preparations will begin later this afternoon at the Wold Lotus Campsite for Hurricane Maria. Our youth exchange participants will be heading to the St. Peter's hurricane shelter later this evening where they will take refuge until Hurricane Maria passes Montserrat.
This will be a new and nerve racking experience for us all but spirits are high and we are confident that everyone will remain safe and happy throughout the storm.
We will be posting updates of our experience as the hurricane progresses.

Critics say you can tell the next season’s hit hue by the color of the rivers in China. Did you know it?
The wastewater from textile factories is classified as the most polluting of all the industrial sectors. Synthetic dyes are hazardous and very dangerous for waters, lands, people and the biodiversity.
So, be aware! Go against the grain, think globally act locally!
... For the fifth workshop of the "Learn, Love, Act Local" campaign we experienced Natural Dyeing with MAHMAH's girls in St.Peter's, #Montserrat. We collected flowers, vegetables, barks, spices and fruit, we sewed our beautiful shopping bags and we dyed them naturally! Now we are ready for the next farmer's market, we have the coolest #reusable and #sustainable shopping bag in town 😍
Thank you Shirley for being so inspirational and creative 🌺

Armed with gloves and plastic bags today 10 volunteers turned out to pick up trash from Runaway Ghaut. This was just the second of a series of workshops about Learn, Love, Act Local! campaign led by Inspirational Volunteer Journeys' Environment Programme. What we saw was really sad, one of the most well-known places who makes Montserrat famous was literally full of garbage. Rubbish from the land pollutes our oceans, choking and trapping millions of fish and animals. We all should keep plastic trash out of our ocean and save ocean life. A great first effort with sincere thanks to ALL people who participated. We collected 20 bags of rubbish!

Hi Teachers!
We are conducting a survey to determine the levels of day-to-day digital literacy, usage and support that teachers experience to help us design our digital literacy training course.
If any of you guys could spare a few moments to answer some questions about your experience of digital literacy and digital learning in your school it would really help us shape our training course.
