Take my Mum most weeks and we love the store. I’ve been shopping here 29 years and yes the service can vary but in all that time so far had nothing to complain about. Staff are generally very helpful and pleasant even just lately when they’re obviously understaffed! Profits vs overheads like everywhere I should imagine!

Lovely shop. Its a pity we haven't got one in Derby. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

I wanted to say thank you to the Nottingham John Lewis staff who helped me, after we got delayed, buy all the things I needed, in the last ten minutes before closing time. Particularly Harry in the children’s shoe department- who got my daughter’s shoes measured and fitted, found us a till that was still open to pay and then ran all the way upstairs and back to swap the socks I picked up in the wrong size!

He remained so good natured and helpful in the face of my attempts to be the most annoying customer in the world!

I’m very grateful.

Always loved going to the John Lewis cafes. When my daughter was in her pushchair, there was always someone to help me get to the table with her and my tray. I would prefer if the wholemeal and date scones were back on the menu!

Went for my free coffee and cake, queued for ages, the plates for the cakes where located in the wrong place so people where having to push through the queue to get to them, had a scone for my freebie but then had to pay for the jam (70p), I had assumed that the jam would have been included with the scone, bit of a rip off if you where actually paying for it. Because everywhere I have been the jam, clotted cream etc that you associate with a scone comes in with the price. I only go there for my free drink but wouldn't go otherwise poor, slow service, could do better.

The carrot cake and latte I had were so good, but when we asked for an highchair, we have been told to go on the upper floor. I think you should have at least one in the cafè or maybe the staff could kindly go and get one for the babies that need it?

Ordered a sausage sandwich and a coffee both hot. However although the sausages were good and the bread was good - the tiny sausages only filled one half of the sandwich so basically I had half a sandwich and half bread and butter, at £3.95 I would have expected a full sandwich.

Shambolic! Went for a coffee, queued up for 10 mins only to be told they only had one machine working, and we'd be quicker on the other counter.....so moved, and were served after the people behind us in the previous queue! The reason.....the till was frozen! Then when I asked for sugarfree syrup was told I had to go back to the other ******queue! Coffee was spilt all down the cup, and more or less slammed down in front of me! Will be going to Starbucks from now on......

Popped in yesyerday for a coffee and cake which was free with my loyalty card. After taking my coffee order, handling my card, till etc, the same lady served the next customer who ordered a Bacon Sandwich to my shock she went to the back got the bread with unwashed bare hands and made up said sandwich. Personally, I would have refused to accept the sandwich and at £4.55 I would have expected the server to at least put food prep gloves on after handling money and cards after all this is John Lewis not some truckers greasy spoon. 😕

I shop in John Lewis often and love all the products. However today whilst in store I had to feed my 5 week old baby, I went to the ‘parents room’ which was nice and clean but there was nowhere to sit to breastfeed my baby. I had to try and lean against the side of the area where you change the nappies. I was shocked that there wasn’t anywhere for parents to sit whilst feeding?! I think it should be thought about to get a chair in there to make it a bit easier to feed.

As shopping for "a nice pair of shoes" for, and with the 15 year old daughter, was becoming somewhat challenging, we decided to break for a light lunch. We used to eat regularly in the restaurant some years ago, but stopped when it began to resemble something between a poor transport cafe and a school dining hall. "Let's give it another chance" we said. Unfortunately it will be its last one. Again, the tables were dirty, as was the cutlery, and there appeared to be more food on the carpet than in my cheese and ham roll, suitably clad in a polythene bag reminiscent of the British Rail of old... an utter disgrace John Lewis. Cannot fault the rest of the store, but you should hang your heads in shame over the conditions in which you expect people to dine.

Where else can you buy a cashmere pullover and leave the shop without any wrapping? Even my local card shop insist on putting my purchase in a paper bag. John Lewis' response to the 5p charge is disappointing.

Using live fish in a display is just plain exploitative and cruel. They must have such an unhappy life. It would definitely stop me from buying anything there.

User

This store has live fish on a display (for la Mer) in a tank that is far too small for them. There is no regard for the welfare of the fish and its pretty repellent that they think living beings are appropriate as advertising.

Rude staff in the technical support booth in the electricals. Whilst I don't disagree with their decision they have a lot to learn about customer service. John Lewis might say never knowingly undersold, it wouldn't be possible to get worse service than here. I'll go to Amazon next time...

My visit was on a Saturday and late in the day but the choice of cakes were awful, my coffee & cake were lovely but my poor daughter had a cookie 🍪 that was so hard she couldn't eat it 😢 and her hot chocolate tasted like the machine had ran out of chocolate. Didn't take it back as it was really busy and under staffed for a busy Saturday 🙈

User

Just queued 30 minutes of my lunch hour to get hot food. Had to walk out with a hungry son whilst staff thought it more important to replenish already plentiful scones not help reduce the ridiculous queue for hot food. Not the Service I expect from John Lewis!

John Lewis, service ... what a joke!

So I wanted to buy a Nikon D7200 with a decent lens. Travelled into Nottingham, obviously John Lewis due to my assumption of great service and also great warranty. I approached the man in the camera department, I asked about the above camera and if they did any bundle deals with a good lens?

Very unenthusiastic reply..if it's on our website, otherwise no.

I then asked about a specific Nikon lens...

Very unenthusiastic reply..if it's on our website, otherwise no.

He then clearly being irritated by myself the customer announced he was a Cannon specialist?

I asked if a Nikon specialist was available? Answer and smirk ....No..

So I walked out the door down the street into Jessops, parted with £1300.00 on a great Nikon bundle deal with a three year warranty, cheaper than John Lewis with their two year warranty.

Seems John Lewis only want to sell certain suppliers... perhaps they get better margin on Canon?

Goodbye John Lewis!

I’m normally a big fan, but after buying jewellery that was bought/returned in March and still they’ve not sorted the refund, not returned calls but now want us to run around a bit more for them to do their job - my experience today was thoroughly crap. I’ve had better from house of Fraser and they’re bad!!!
