We are currently very busy - both in A&E and across the hospital - and are concentrating our efforts on our most seriously ill patients.
This means people who are not seriously ill may wait longer than normal to be seen.
We advise anyone who doesn’t require emergency care to instead go to their Pharmacist, GP, to phone NHS111, or consider accessing the Corby Urgent Care Centre, instead of going direct to A&E.
... The recent hot weather is having some impact on A&E attendance and we have experienced many unwell older people with medical conditions who are also dehydrated.
There are also many children and adults with minor limb injuries related to playing outside, gardening, DIY etc - which can often be dealt with outside of A&E.
While the next few days may be cooler continued hot weather is forecast and we anticipate that we will continue to have high emergency care demand for the next week.
If you have a relative or friend in hospital at the moment who is about to be discharged we would really appreciate your support in making this happen as soon as possible – as it releases a bed for another patient who may be waiting in A&E.
Be sensible in the sun remember to drink lots of water, (and encourage elderly relatives to do the same) stay covered up and use high factor sunscreen to avoid burning, and avoid extreme exertion.
Seek medical attention from your GP if you have a long term condition and are feeling unwell.
Thank you for your support. Please share this message with family and friends.

Today we honoured KGH gardener Ralph Howe who has done an amazing 59 years of service to the hospital.
Ralph, 76, who is probably one of the NHS’s longest serving employees, joined the hospital aged 17 in 1959 and has been working here ever since.
At a ceremony today Ralph was presented with a cherry tree and bench as a thank you for his service as part of the NHS70 celebrations.
... The estates team and senior members of KGH staff all gathered to wish him well and he was filmed by BBC Look East – look out for him on BBC1 tonight at 6.30pm.
Ralph first started work on May 25, 1959, after being was interviewed by KGH’s head gardener, Percy Chester, and Group Secretary, Mr Dowgill.
In those days the hospital had a 12 acre vegetable field and orchards on site and grew all of its own fruit and vegetables.
The chef would place an order with the gardeners and they would collect the produce and it would be on the patients’ plates at the next meal.
Ralph received an MBE for his services to the hospital in 1997 from the Queen but said he doesn’t like a fuss.
He said: “I feel very honoured and lucky to have had a job I love which has kept me in pretty good health for all these years. I love creating new areas and maintaining our grounds to a high standard.”
He was thanked for his outstanding service by the hospital’s Senior Independent Director Phil Harris-Bridge, Medical Director Prof Andrew Chilton, Director of Estates Ian Allen and Director of Nursing and Quality Leanne Hackshall.

Following an awards event yesterday it has been revealed that two more KGH staff were shortlisted for the NHS’s ‘Top 70 Stars’ for their outstanding work.
It brings the number of KGH staff who made the national top 70 up to three with consultant obstetrician, Mrs Adeeba Nishtar, achieving 7th place in the top ten, porter Liam Coulson achieving 9th place and superintendent radiographer Deborah Black coming in 22nd.
Liam made an appeal to local individuals and companies for Chr...istmas crackers so he could pull them with every patient in hospital – especially the ones with few friends and relatives - during his shift on Christmas Day.
He was overwhelmed with the public response to his appeal and carried out his promise – with the help of some other members of staff – on Christmas Day.
Deborah Black, a Superintendent Radiographer in KGH’s Breast Screening Unit, was also nominated by a colleague for the fantastic work she does with patients and her colleagues.
Mrs Nishtar was nominated by Kettering mum Karen Birch for her outstanding professional care and attention.
The Health and Care’s Top 70 Stars event was put together as part of the NHS 70th birthday celebrations and is a joint venture between the NHS Confederation, NHS England and NHS Improvement.
