Work has started this week on our syndicate room upgrades. Kimberlin's eight rooms will be unavailable for up to five weeks, but group working spaces are available throughout the building and the Law Library's two rooms are still available to book. More details below...

Syndicate Room Upgrades:
Kimberlin Library's eight bookable syndicate rooms are undergoing a make-over this summer and will be unavailable from Monday 10th June for up to 5 weeks while they are refurbished by Estates and ITMS.
They’ll be returning in mid July with all-new AV, including Mersive Solstice collaborative software and Smart Surface walls. You'll be able to share your own device content to screen and make use of full-wall writable surfaces to develop your work using... the whole room as your canvas.
The Law Library's two bookable syndicate rooms will remain available throughout the period of work and group working spaces are available in other areas of Kimberlin Library, ask colleagues if you need assistance

"The Erasmus staff mobility training week provides an opportunity to visit other universities in the EU. I am visiting the TU Wien university library in Vienna to learn about their approaches to delivering library services.
There are 16 librarians on the training programme from countries such as Latvia, Spain, lithuania, Italy, Czech Republic and others. We have been learning about the Austrian approach to supporting open ...access publishing and research data management, along with their consortia approaches to licensing e-resources and implementing new library management systems, and the work of their subject librarians and project management.
We have visited 2 libraries. The university of economics and business has a new campus built 6 years ago. They have a huge futuristic library that looks like the Starship Enterprise. It includes silent study areas with panoramic views to aid studying, but also with group areas and a place to relax."

We have visited 2 libraries. The national library of Austria built in the first half of the 18th century. It is housed in a beautiful baroque building and operates like the British library in London, by collecting all publications from the country. They also have a large range of digitisation projects to open up the collections more widely."
