About King'S Dancesport

Dance classes and private tuition in Ballroom, Freestyle, Latin American, Classical & Modern Sequence for all ages, from beginner to British Champions.

King'S Dancesport Description

Marjorie King`s School of Dancing was established in 1970 and it recent times has become one of the most successful dance schools in the country. In the last 5 years we have guided students to more than 25 championship titles across all age categories.

We have class lessons and private tuition is available in Ballroom, Latin American, Classical & Modern Sequence. All abilities are welcome; we cater for beginner’s right up to British Champions.
Do you teach adults and children?
Yes, we teach students of all ages. We teach students from as young as 2 years old in our Wednesday under 6 years’ beginner’s classes right up to well over 80 in our adult social classes. Whatever age you are there will be a class for you.

What If I’m just a beginner?
Then you’re in the right place. We have beginner’s classes for all children and adults throughout the week in Classical, ballroom and Latin. You don’t need to have any previous dancing experience and we confident that we can get you dancing even in you do have ‘2 left feet’.

Do I need a partner?
If you don’t have a partner and are looking for adult classes then look no further than our Wednesday evening class at The Eden Centre Kettering. More than half of those who come along do so without a partner, it’s a great environment and great place to socialise. The majority of our other adult classes are set up for couples though we also have private tuition which again doesn’t require you to have a partner.

Can I take dancing exams?
We encourage everyone to work towards exams which are up to twice a year. This gives you the opportunity to progress your dancing. We’ll teach you all about dancing technique as you learn new and exciting routines for each exam.

Can I enter competition?
We pride ourselves on the success our students have achieved at competition level. From British Championships to local beginner and novice competitions, if you would like to try your hand at dancing in a competitive environment then there are great opportunities.

What if I would just like to dance for fun?
If you would just like to dance for fun then there are classes that are perfect for you, just like our Wednesday evening lessons. You don’t need a partner, there is no pressure to prepare for exams you can just come along and enjoy learning how to dance with great company.

What about social dancing?
Throughout the year we host social dances in Kettering, Corby & Geddington and we’d love for you to come along. It’s a great chance to meet new people who you can dance the night away with.

Great presentation this evening. Once again, well done to all of those who took their exams this year! Special mention to our little stars Grace & Emily who are off to strut their stuff on the catwalk to raise money for Cransley Hospice.

Great weekend at Unity Dance-Festival. Well done to all of those who competed, in particular Melanie, William and Poppy who all danced beautifully, picking up 1st places in the process.

Great class last night, not sure about the music though... Too soon? 🎅

Sometimes we wonder whether this lot just come along for the sweets at the end of the lesson, just look at them go!

What a great festival, take us back!! On Saturday we saw William Philp & Poppy Walker and Lucy lonergan and Kyra young make their Under 10 Semi Final, both putting in fantastic performances!!
Then came the Adults which saw Siobhan Daly & Jessica Rose Newbold who were competing only for the second time together, make all of their finals; not to mention becoming the Social All Ladies Champions for 2018! What an achievement :)
Then came Roger Griss and Annette Griss who put in... their best performance of the year, which led them to 2nd place in both of their competitions.
And that's not forgetting our proudest moment, seeing Marjorie grace the floor as a adjudicator in the British Championships for the first time.
What a weekend!

All ladies champions

Tonight, Marjorie King stepped out onto the floor as part of an esteemed panel of adjudicators at the British Sequence Championships, for the very first time. One of the greatest honours a professional can be afforded, which is so well deserved. We could not be more proud.

All ready to go!

Good luck to those competing this weekend at the Blackpool Sequence Dance Festival.
Shout out to Lucy & Kyra, William & Poppy, Jess & Siobhan and Roger & Anette who have all been working extremely hard building up to this weekend. Can't wait to see you all dance!

Last time out before Blackpool for these 2 beautiful little couples!

User

Huge congratulations to Stacey Fotheringham and her partner Gez Lyons, for winning this year's Strictly Corby. I think we'll have to form some sort of guard of honour when we next see you in class 😄🏆

It's okay not to be okay. Dancing is just one way you can look after your mental health and there are many others. Check out the mental health Foundation website for more info.

A fantastic photo of Roger & Anette Griss, at the recent All Ireland Sequence Championships.

Why not start the new school year with a chance for your children to take up a new hobby. Our dance school is well established, taking students from beginners to British Champions. Enrolling September 2018!
