We had a lovely day at Leap Ahead Fest 2018, the children have had a wonderful time having their faces painted and winning prizes and having lots of fun on the bouncy castle, with even the parents joining in the races.
We hope you all have a lovely summer break. We also say goodbye to some of our Leapers today as continue their educational journey at school. Don't forget we now collect from Woodlands Academy for after school & wrap around care, if yo...u require more information, please call or message.
Don't forget, whilst we are open during the holidays, funded only sessions commence on Wednesday 5th September.

End of Year Party/Graduation
Attention to all parents
... We are super excited for our end of year party, that will be held at Shalom Youth Center, just next door to the nursery.
We have a special guest coming along, the one & only Mr Shiny!
The party will be instead of our normal session times, and will begin 12:45 until 3pm on Friday 20th.
Party food & drink will be provided!
To help us with the cost of the hiring of the disco hall, Mr Shiny himself and plenty of party food and drink, we are selling tickets for just £3 per adult.
Children who attend the nursery are of-course free of charge, however we are asking that accompanying adults, siblings, grandparents etc will require a ticket, and may we add there is no limit to the amount of tickets you purchase, bring the whole family if you require to enjoy this special event.
To purchase your tickets for the lovely end of year party we have put on, please see any of the staff here @ Rutland and we will be happy to help.

Quick message from Rutland. We have had to send a couple of children home who have presented with vomiting and loose stools. We are sure it is nothing to worry about at present. But please if your child is showing symptoms of illness please can you abstain from nursery for 48 hrs and inform the nursery. Please help us to keep our little ones well. Many thanks in advance, Team Rutland 🐸

Reading with your little one is so important for many reasons.
Books for children are our first introduction to the art of storytelling. Reading to children helps develop imagination, listening skills, and a lifelong love of books. ... Most importantly when you read to children you are spending quality time just for the two of you. What could be more perfect than that.
Check out this offer from The Works! Only £1 a book and some quality titles on offer too.

We are excited to show the children some new resources for our tuff spot trays we have recently purchased by saving up our petty cash. These include an artificial grass insert and an acrylic large mirror insert. These new resources will help the children develop their imagination with role play, their sensory skills of touch and sight, and also develop ‘a sense of self.’ ... For today we have set up a farm tuff spot tray and then a light tuff spot tray with our new resources so that the children can begin to manipulate light/shadows using the mirror and build stories up around the farm. We can not wait to see what the children do with them and hope they enjoy them!

The children here have really enjoyed watching our baby caterpillars turn into beautiful butterflies, and they have observed, investigated and explored them every step of the way. The children enjoyed creating pictures, taking pictures, and feeding the caterpilliars/butterflies with the flowers the children had grown by themselves and it’s been a very successful learning journey for our children watching them grow and having the responsibility of caring f...or them, and then when they were ready setting them free. Have a lovely Weekend.

Just before Christmas last year one of our practitioners Rosie from Spring Villa sadly lost her husband. Rosie has decided to raise awareness and funds for the British Heart Foundation along with her colleagues.
Please can parents visit Rosie’s Just Giving page and donate if you can no matter how small. There will also be some small BHF items on sale at Spring Villa such as pens, badges etc.
Many thanks in advance.

LEAP AHEAD@ SPRING VILLA
Over the last few weeks in toddler and baby room we have enjoyed experiencing activities relating to the environment and conservation. We made cracker bird feeders for the birds in our garden and then made ice lollies for ourselves to celebrate Summer. We have created a farm and a field within the 'tuff tray' and had lots of fun digging up the plants and feeding the animals.
The children have been developing their speaking saying ‘moo cow’ and ‘oink ...oink’ also naming other animals they have seen outside. In our water tray, we made a pond and had lots of fun fishing and playing with the ducks this has helped us with our speaking. Many of the children have been saying ‘quack’ ‘duck’ and ‘fish’ and we have also been working on our understanding.
We’ve done lots of painting and messy things as part of this topic such as making trees and painting with our feet to make carbon footprints. As part of our book of the month ‘we are friendly' we’ve been working on our sharing and turn taking.

The preschool children have been learning all about the ocean this week, following our book of the month “The commotion in the ocean. Talking about all the different creatures that live in the sea and trying to make playdough body parts for them. We have also made port hole sea pictures for the wall and tried really hard with our turn taking when playing ocean bingo!

LEAP AHEAD @ NUNSTHORPE
As the half term approaches, I have been informed that a number of children in the nursery seem to have picked up a vomiting & diarrhoea bug which is present also in some local schools & in the area (with one case being confirmed as Norovirus.)
The main symptoms of norovirus are:
... feeling sick (nausea) diarrhoea being sick (vomiting)
Children also may have:
a high temperature of 38C or above a headache aching arms and legs The symptoms start suddenly within 1 to 2 days of being infected.
As the bug can be spread very quickly in close contact with an infected person we are asking parents to ensure children are kept away from nursery if they are showing any signs of being ill with the above symptoms.
The virus only last a day or two, however if you are concerned please seek medical advice.
For more information please see the NHS website https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/norovirus/< br> See More

i cannot recommend leap ahead enough! My little one goes to spring villa and the staff there are amazing they are all absolutely fantastic at their job. My little one settled in well with the girls in the room and with some others who weren't in his room and he loves going to nursery. The girls were al so patient and understanding when he first started as I was super anxious about leaving him but I had no need to worry at all. Would recommend this nursery to anyone looking for childcare in the form of a nursery. 5 stars doesn't do it justice in my opinion

Home from home setting . staff are all pleasant and very helpful. Lovely enviroment for my little one to play and learn at the same time .

Fantastic, didn't have a good start with you back last January so took my little girl out but since starting university and taking both my little girls back. Esmai is now fantastic and waves me off just shows the staff now have a little more patience and support for her instead of ringing me to collect her all the time and Natasha who looks after my littlest one is also fantastic.. No complaints at all, would recommend.
