Now that the football World Cup is over, AICU at Glenfield has turned its attention to the world’s most famous three week cycle event – le Tour de France! In support of the UHL Health and Wellbeing strategy, AICU aims to create a positive environment which engages staff, patients and relatives together.
AICU is decorated with Tour de France imagery and information around the desk and bed spaces. There is a static exercise bike that gives staff and relatives the opportunity to... get active. For patients not yet well enough to get out of bed, but are able to use a bike pedal machine, there is a mini competition with ‘yellow jerseys’ as congratulations! A record is being kept of how many miles ‘Team AICU’ covers on the static bike and pedals.
