Written in exquisite prose, The Running Hare tells the story of the wild animals and plants that live in and under our ploughland, from the labouring microbes to the patrolling kestrel above the corn, from the linnet pecking at seeds to the seven-spot ladybird that eats the aphids that eat the crop. The Running Hare is on the Jimmy’s Book Club shortlist this month - check if it’s on the shelves in your library library and read along http://ow.ly/L3wx30mTaFV

Do you enjoy reading for pleasure? Would you be confident reading out loud to a group? Leicestershire Shared Reading and Leicestershire Libraries are looking for a volunteer to help run our successful ‘Make Friends, with a Book’ shared reading group in Hinckley library. The group meets every Tuesday morning from 10.30am to midday, and is open to all – why not visit a session to find out more? Volunteers benefit from specialised training and lots of support. Once trained, you... would work in partnership with existing volunteers. You can ask at the library desk for an information leaflet, or get in touch with Nicky or Ruth to find out more: • Ruth Pointer tel. 07940 817214 • Nicky Bennison tel. 07415 125409 An e-mail to leicssharedreading@gmail.com will reach both of us.
