Corby is our original site and has been on a tremendous journey over the years and we are very proud of who we have become as a setting. We are very fortunate to have so many long serving staff from the beginning and together we have created a very special place. We are continually developing our own professional knowledge and challenging ourselves, in order to provide the best experiences for the children in our care. We won at the Corby Awards three years in a row – Best services 2014 and 2015 and then Business of the Year in 2016. We have also only ever been graded Outstanding in every aspect of our Ofsted inspections in June 2011, August 2013 and October 2017.

The development of our unique approach has created a huge following across the Early years sector, which has led us to develop training and consultancy programmes which are very well received. We have a separate facebook page to provide inspiration to early years practitioners which currently has over 25, 000 followers and rising. We have had visitors from all over the world, even Australia, which has overwhelmed us to say the least.

We are very blessed with our outdoor spaces, having individual play spaces for our under twos, two year olds and preschool as well as our shared sensory and wildlife gardens. And at the beginning of 2017 we opened our beautiful and unique Yurt classroom within the wildlife garden. In addition to having such wonderful outdoor play spaces, we have our Forest School Leader Andy, who spends time with all age groups working outdoors and participating in forest school type activities. He also occasionally takes groups of children to the forest, as well as offering specific programmes you can sign your children up to. Children based in our outdoor classroom have weekly trips to the forest during their long term forest school programme which works hand in hand with their outdoor learning in their classroom.

Being based at Our Lady’s school we have a very good relationship with them, especially when it comes to children transitioning into reception. Each year we have somewhere between 50-65 children leaving us for big school and I would estimate 50% of those children move onto Our Lady’s and many taster sessions and joint events such as sports day are arranged. Our Lady’s recognise and value the work we do with our children and are always very pleased with how prepared and ready the children are for school. We do of course also work with all other schools in preparation for the big move and are happy for teachers to visit the children at nursery and some schools invite us in for trips too.

We offer a before and afterschool service for children, however, we currently only have limited places which are for Our Lady’s children only due to space in cars for pick ups and drop offs. We also run a holiday club for all school holidays and teacher training days which follow the standard Northamptonshire school term time table – this is open to children at any school. During the holiday we like to plan fun and exciting things to do including forest school, trips to East Carlton Park, Fermyn Woods etc and even the cinema!
