Little Owls Nursery Description

Established in March 2006, Little Angels is a privately owned day nursery and operates from within a mid-terraced town house, in Carlisle city centre. We are 5 minutes walk from the city centre.

We offer day care for children ranging from birth to 12 years.

Our main aim is to provide a safe, stimulating and happy environment to help the children develop from a very early age right up to preparing for that first day at school.

Whilst the children are at Little Angels, they will be able to participate in a wide variety of play experiences indoor and out, which will help them to develop the skills needed for them to become independent and socially aware.

All staff will be fully qualified with the relevant qualifications, and will receive further training and development keeping them up to date with all Health & Safety and Day Care issues

Today Brainy Badgers & Holiday club have been imaginative wearing the Fire helmets and playing 'police'. From this some of the children have walked next door to collect some large boxes to create their own police cars and Fire engines. They have worked as a team when painting the vehicles the various colours as well as decorating pizza bases and cardboard cutouts with natural resources to make the wheels and ladders.

Brainy Badgers & Holiday club have had lots of messy fun today by carrying out their own slime experiments. They have used jelly crystals, Corn flour & warm water to make slime/gloop/playdoh. They have had to measure out the ingredients precisely to get their desired results. This activity has taught children about changes in the structure of materials when water is added which has proven fascinating and the children have spent the morning engrossed in the activity.

Holiday club & Brainy Badgers have been making some yummy chocolate brownies this afternoon πŸ«πŸ°πŸ˜‹ as well as finishing off their pom poms and weaving. Working together in a group allows children who don't usually play together to build up self esteem and to communicate with others. It challenges children to use their problem solving skills when measuring and weighing ingredients.
They all managed to share resources and take turns when doing small jobs such as mixing; cracking the egg; putting the mixture into the oven and turning the dial to cook the yummy brownies. We can't wait to try them at snack time!

Holiday Club & Brainy Badgers have shown an interest in Comic relief today when Child D brought in his 'Red Nose' to show his friends. From this, some children have enjoyed making their own pom pom nose by weaving wool onto the pom-pom maker. They showed pride when showing off their finished work! They are all fab and unique!
Weaving activities help with hand- eye coordination which is beneficial for children's brain development- cognitive & Social skills. Being fixed on an activity like this takes concentration and patience.

This week in the Brainy Badgers we showed an interest in the wooden threading cubes and enjoyed threading the string through the various holes. We decided to carry on this theme by making threading hearts for valentines day, we all did them in a range of ways and produced some beautiful stitches. We found some black and white fabric and had a go at adding coloured thread with a needle to colour it in to make a fantastic hanging canvas. Even though the needle was a little bit sharp the children showed care and took there time they stayed in the lines and have produced some fantastic stitches requesting to have more and more turns, so dont be afraid to let them have a go with real resources.

🐝 CURIOSITY 🐝
Busy Bees have been exploring and showing curiosity when following on from a child’s interest of farm animals.
Offering natural resources for the children to explore helps develop imagination and thinking skills.
... They have been using wooden pieces to form and create structures and stomping the animals through the corn flakes to make crunching sounds. Demonstating that they can think of ideas to create different sounds in the environment ☺️

The busy Bees have enjoyed making some yummy chocolate brownies for Valentine’s Day. The busy Bees enjoyed sharing and taking turns when having a go at mixing the ingredients together. Baking activities benefits children in different ways as it helps children build vocabulary by talking about the textures, tastes and scent.🐝😁

🐝today the Busy Bees have enjoyed getting messy by creating some gloop! the children all took it in turns pouring in the ingrediants and sprinkling in some glitter children learn cause and effect when they see what happens when they touch the gloop, move it around, and when the material comes back together. They also develop their fine motor and sensory skills by manipulating and handling the gloop😁

Today in baby bunnies we have explored lots of different fruits, we have made some yummy fruit kebabs to follow on from some of the children's interests.
The children were able to taste the different fruit and choose which fruits they wanted to use. The children were also able to develop their hand - eye coordination skills as they put each piece of fruit onto a skewer.
To cater for both our older babies and younger babies, the older babies made fruit kebabs and developed the...ir fine motor and decision making skills. The younger babies explored the textures and used their senses, some fruit was then blended and frozen for the younger babies.
At little angels we love to promote healthy eating. πŸ“πŸ‰πŸπŸŠπŸŒπŸŽ

In the baby bunny room we experience lots of sensory play. Over the last two weeks we have been very busy taking part in various messy play activities including shaving foam and jelly.
The children used their senses throughout the activities they used their hands to explore the different textures. Sensory play also encourages the children's physical development and their communication and language. This also encourages the children to explore the environment around them by u...sing their five senses touch, taste, smell, see and hear the various things around them.
The children were happy throughout this activity and showed excitement, the children used their fingers to mark make in the shaving foam and enjoyed eating the jelly while taking part! The children also enjoyed sitting at the table as a group to take part.
