About Loughborough Vets4Pets

Loughborough Vets4Pets provides a caring compassionate and cost effective service for all your pets.
We hope to see you soon.

Loughborough Vets4Pets Description

We are a brand new veterinary surgery that opened on Monday 22nd April 2013.

We have taken on the lease of an unloved video shop that has stood derelict for at least 10 years and have converted it into a fully functional veterinary practice that caters for all pets great and small - "if it fits through the door we will see it! ".

Our open day on Saturday 20th April 2013 gave people the chance to meet the team, look around the practice and hopefully learn something about the type of work and amount of care the team puts into looking after your pet.

We have recently been awarded the RCVS practice standards award, this is a major achievement and means that our veterinary surgery abides by strict codes of conduct applicable to patient and client care.

On the 22nd November 2013 we won the Vets4Pets "Fastest Growing New Practice" award due to the hard work and dedication of our team and our loyal clients who are happy to recommend us to their friends and colleagues.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

🌟 Top of the class! 🌟
Well done to Dougie, Maggie May, Willow and Hugo – our first Puppy Preschool class of 2019! This Saturday was our first session and was a huge success, all puppies (and people!) had great fun and were model students!
Our next one-off Puppy Preschool sessions are:... - Wednesday 19th June at 7:30pm - Saturday 6th July at 1pm
Spaces are still available for both. Puppies up to 16 weeks old that have had at least their 1st vaccination are welcome. The Preschool lasts for 1 hour and gives advice on new puppy ownership, gets young puppies socialised in a safe environment before being allowed out on walks, and works as a great precursor to puppy training classes. Advice is given on toilet training, play biting, mouthing, play, crate training and settling into a new home. Each puppy also receives their own attendance certificate and a free goodie bag!
To book or for more info either pop into the practice, send us an email at loughborough@vets4pets.com or call us on 01509 238340

The water / road works are now right outside the Practice and the parking bays outside the front of the building are now closed off. We have spoken with the supervisor of the works and agreed that for any emergencies requiring quick access to the Practice or for any clients that will struggle to carry their pet from the car park / side roads please inform one of the roadworkers so you can park out the front as usual. The Client Care Advisors on reception will be able to assist with any queries you have on booking your appointment. We have been assured that this disruption should not be any longer than 2 weeks. Apologies for any inconvenience this causes.

Please allow plenty of time to get to your appointment. The water / road works continue and Hazel Road, where you can access our car park is closed. Severn Trent have advised road is closed until 21 June. You can get to the car park via Broadway and Atherstone Road. We will continue to keep you posted with any further news!

🐰 Did you know rabbits need to eat their body size in hay every day!
Hay is the most important part of a rabbits diet. Not only does it help to wear down their constantly growing teeth but it is their main source of fibre. Unsufficient amounts of hay can lead to dental and digestion problems. 🐰 #RAW2019

🐰 Have you heard of flystrike? Here at Vets4Pets we stock flystrike prevention treatment. It is important to check your rabbits over daily in the warmer weather as this is when it is likely to happen. This is included in the Rabbit Complete Care for just £8 a month along with many other treatments and services. 🐰 #RAW2019

🐰 To kick off Rabbit Awareness Week here is a fantastic post from RAW explaining how RVHD2 can be spread. It is important to vaccinate both indoor and outdoor rabbits as they are both at risk. If you wish to book an appointment or would like more information please contact the practice on 01509 238340. 🐰 #RAW2019

Some important information about our nurse clinics From Monday 10 June 2019 we will be introducing a Β£10 charge for our nurse clinics (see our Facebook page for details of our costs) Our dedicated veterinary nurses undertake rigorous training and are skilled professionals that provide high quality care to your pets. We encourage their continuous professional development and further training to ensure that, during the various clinics offered, our nurses provide up to date advi...ce based on current veterinary research and best practice. This is to enable you to provide the right care to your pets, and help prevent ill-health. The decision has been made to charge for nurse clinics in order to help us continue meeting our aim of delivering excellent client and patient care and to recognise the professionalism and standard of the nurse clinics we offer. Any checks with a nurse before and after a booked op will continue to be included in the price of the op. And free nurse clinics will continue to be offered as a perk under our Complete Care Plan and Best Start in Life kitten and puppy packs. We wish to thank you in advance for your understanding and continued support.

🐰 RABBIT AWARENESS WEEK 2019 🐰
Rabbit awareness week starts tomorrow and this year is all about raising awareness around Rabbit Viral Haemorrhagic Disease 2 (RVHD2). RVHD2 is a new variant of RVHD1 and is often fatal.
Many rabbits in the UK are not vaccinated against this deadly disease and are therefore at risk. This year we are asking all rabbit owners in the UK to make sure that their rabbits are vaccinated against this and other fatal diseases.
... We will be posting a new post each day relating to rabbit awareness.
If you wish to book your rabbit in for vaccinations please contact the practice on 01509 238340. 🐰

🐾 Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month: the role of the surgical nurse 🐾
First thing every morning at the practice, the surgical nurse will admit patients for surgeries, settle them into a ward according to species – dogs, cats and small animals all are kept separate to minimise stress – and may then place IV catheters, take pre-operative blood samples and provide IV fluid therapy for patients that require it. Shown below (picture 1) is the lovely Tia, who you can see being sup...er brave for her catheter placement when she came to us recently for her routine spay surgery!
Once the patient is under anaesthesia, the surgical nurse will monitor the patient’s anaesthetic whilst another prepares the patient for surgery. This will involve clipping hair away from the surgical area, sterilising the skin with surgical scrub, and injecting a local skin block which numbs the surgical area (picture 2).
Nurses are also able to scrub into surgeries to assist the veterinary surgeon if directed, which involves wearing hats, masks, sterile gloves and sterile gowns (picture 3).
After surgery has finished for the day, the surgical nurse will then discharge patients back to their owners and provide post-operative care information to help with a smooth recovery.
