Nice pint of hobgoblin, friendly welcoming pub, sat outside lovely views of the canal and also had some home made chips would recommend this pub to anyone in the area thanks! ’┐Į

My first visit and there was some fine music playing from a chap with his piano !

Oh and the beer was nice as well !

Jon and Angie just enjoyed a glass of wine with some great friends in The Malt Shovel. We must say what a pleasure it was to be served by such a charming, pleasant and very professional young man, Tristan the barman. Tristan has drawn us back to The Malt Shovel time and again. Well done to Colin and Karen for employing such a top person ’┐Į

Freshly cooked food, and absolutely delicious! No microwave meals! Great menu, thai night on a Thursday is a must, food is Devine, lovely ambience, staff very friendly and will change menu to cater for your taste! Cater for cealiacs, vegetarians, vegans, great selection of ales and lagers in a beautiful location by the water. Definitely worthy of a 5* rating!

Food is awesome, staff friendly and beer cool and well kept. I've spent many many happy times with friends at this quaint canal-side pub

First experience of a narrow boat. Moored up outside the Malt Shovel and that just completed a great day. Friendly, accommodating staff. Even offered to rustle up some food as it was after serving time. Cosyfamily atmosphere. Great selection of beers. Didn't manage to get through them all so just one reason to nip in again. Highly recommended. ­¤æŹ

Brilliant breakfast at malt shovel, 2 eggs, 2bacon, 2 sausage, mushrooms, hash brown, nbeans and tomatoŌĆÖs, black pudding, fresh orange juice and tea/coffee plus toast or fried bread for ┬Ż7.50, absolute bargain and lovely food. Land lady was pestering outside and took the time to chat, very peaceful and it lovely start to the day xxx
