Coronavirus Update 19th March 2020
Government Update
· Thank you to everyone for your efforts in self-isolating
... · Timescale – 12 weeks – only if the right steps are taken
· Scientific progress – understanding the virus – trials within a month / more testing is ongoing
· Anti-body test kit is in the pipeline
· Vital to follow government advice – stay home and self-isolate if you or your family members have symptoms – 14 days
· Avoid unnecessary contact and gatherings to help turn the tide of the disease
Maplewell Update
· Thank you for helping us and supporting us in keeping Maplewell Hall School open
· I fully understand if you choose to keep your children at home. There will be no penalties from school if you choose this course of action
· The staff have been brilliant, going ‘above and beyond’ their roles on a daily basis
· Maplewell Hall School will STILL BE OPEN next MONDAY 23 March 2020
· All of our children have EHCPs and the government have committed to educate this group of young people
· Our staffing levels are falling in line with pupil absence
· We have an online learning platform personalised for every student set up and ready to use – more information will be posted tomorrow, including login instructions
· We expect school transport to still be in place
· Our kitchen staff will continue to provide high quality food to students
· I am assuming that Maplewell staff are key front line staff. We are awaiting what childcare plans will be put into place for their children so that they can come to Maplewell
· We have plans to run a skeleton staff targeting our most vulnerable students and key worker families if staffing levels drop below what we would deem to be safe to keep the whole school open

In celebration of World Book Day, students are welcome to come to school on Thursday dressed as a character from their favourite book (otherwise normal school uniform please). There will also be World Book day related activities happening during tutor time throughout the day.

Alex wrote to Leicester City Football Club about being a matchday mascot. Unfortunately match day mascots must be under the age of 12.
However, Filbert the Fox came into Maplewell to surprise Alex, and presented him with some match day tickets for the upcoming Southampton game.

🍬🍭🎄We are seeking donations for our Christmas raffle and tombola that we have coming up in December. If you are able to help we will be very grateful. Please send them into school and our K5 pupils will be organising our stalls this year. If you would like to hold your own stall at this event please leave your details with school and we will contact you in return. Thank you as always 😊🎄✨🎁
