The next theme night is Mexican night only 8 day away!
Here is a recent review of our most recent theme night:
... "Excellent food at this, Mercia's Italian night. Chef is inspired combining flavours in a successful and innovative way. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food and service. Service is efficient and friendly and the restaurant has its own unique and cosy decor."

And so the weekend has rolled around back to us again bringing with it an Autumn chill in the air. It’s the season of hearty roots; sweet potatoes, squashes and ending beets, when mixed with crumbling feta and a pinch of chilli is a perfect step from Summer to Autumn. Gin, never out of season (thank goodness 😂)

User

User

And so it seems that 6 weeks have passed us by; With all the fun and games and sometimes stressed phrases such as “I can’t (insert appropriate swear word) wait for you to go back to school” we are now all sobbing over school bags realising that they are another year older 😢 So whether you’re a bruncher’ or a luncher’ grab your mates and come and see us after school drop off sometime this week and you can have any soft or hot drink on us, with any main bunch or lunch meal. One of the best bits of the back to school routine is a catch up gossip with your mates after all 🤷‍♀️ . . . Offer valid until 5pm Thursday 6th. This post must be shown to a member of staff to redeem discount. A main brunch or lunch dish must be brought per person to redeem one free soft or hot drink per person*

User

What a perfect location for a tasteful lunch and staff are so friendly

User

We popped in for an impromptu lunch and what a treat. Lovely food suitable for vegetarians, a super menu, friendly, polite and efficient staff and lovely weather to boot! I even observed the chef was pleasant. We will definitely be visiting again. Thank you:)

User

We had a wonderful meal lastnight, it was my mum's birthday and we wanted a special meal and that's what we got. Delicious food, great service, cannot fault a thing. Thankyou for such a lovely evening.

User

Visited twice now, once for meal on their autumn menu and once for their festive menu. Friendly and helpful staff..gave advice on allergies and pleased to see a wide range of gluten free choices. Lovely atmosphere and delicious food, particularly the vegetarian option,at very reasonable prices!

User

Very personable friendly service; we dropped in for a coffee and cake. The Crich square tea cakes were the biz; flat white and capuccinno top quality. Will return.

User

The food was lovely and the staff was very friendly and helpful, had a lovely evening at mercia last night xx

User

Made a last minute booking for Valentines night. Was surprised to get a table for 8 pm and even happier to be offered the ‘Valentines special’.

On arrival we were greeted with a glass of fizz and escorted to the table.

The menu was very varied and we both had difficulty choosing.

Highlight for Debbie was the cheeseboard including here favourite ‘sage Derby’. An added extra was the shot of Port which was well appreciated.

We were well tended by a waiter who was very attentive without being intrusive.

It may be a cliche but ‘we’ll be back’

User

Lovely staff so helpful and friendly ,amazing food lovely all round!

User

Just back from a lovely evening here, food was fantastic and staff lovely and friendly. Definitely coming back

User

Excellent evening. Lovely food can’t wait to visit again

User

Early evening meal for two on Thursday, glad we booked as it soon got busy but this did not impact on the attentive and prompt service. The menu is not extensive but provides a good choice, we chose the tea-egg and beetroot salad as starter which had a nice balance of flavours, for mains I went for the duck breast on a cassoulet style base perfectly cooked to my preference of rare and very tasty, my wife went for the fish parcel with hand-cut chips, this came to the table still wrapped and so remained nicely moist to the last forkful.Dessert was a beautiful in house chocolate fudge cake. Although the drinks list is not extensive it provided plenty of choice including local wines, beers and coffee. The range and local artwork were a nice focus, we hope to visit again soon!

User

Called in for coffee and cake lovely atmosphere lovely staff . Will be booking an evening meal , menu looks great and changes every 8 weeks .

User

Birthday lunch at Mercia yesterday was fabulous, thank you guys. I had the homemade Stilton stuffed burger (I'm a burger snob and easily disappointed) but this was delicious, enormous, succulent and lots of other meaty adjectives that describe beef at its best. The chips were amazing and I had food envy from the vege breakfast and meat feast breakfast being consumed by family on either side of me. A bottle of house red topped the meal off while the ancient coal fire warmed us and kept the Wirksworth weather out. My new favourite restaurant! I can't wait to taste the cocktails.

User

Back in beautiful Wirksworth, and loving all of it, especially the amazing brunch at Mercia! Delicious, nutritious and very affordable. Popping back this evening to try the gin!

User

Amazing food. Went in for my birthday and was extremely happy with the service and food. It was lovely great place and really fits in well within Wirksworth

User

Absolutely fabulous vegan brunch, complete with little touches like dairy-free spread for my toast, lovely staff, and great value for the price. Exactly what I wanted. Felt very spoiled to have a whole avo to myself. Lovely little place to sit out on a Sunday. We will definitely be back.

User

9 of us suddenly descended yesterday on this lovely place and asked for a brunch and as quickly as possible as we were very short of time. They seated us cheerfully and most of us had the superb bubble and squeak packed full of vegetable chunks. The price was great - just over £70 for the nine of us and we were out in a flash. Just wish it was closer. The little town is beautiful and set in stunning countryside.

User

Usually call in for coffee at the weekend, when we walk down from Bolehill when we collect the paper. Love calling here.

User

I had the tea boiled egg and salted beet starter, with walnut dressing. It was superb. The balance of flavours was perfect. A beautifully balanced mingle of fresh flavours. The lamb and rosemary meatballs as my main wasn't a 'wow' dish. The meat and the sauce didn't seem to have met before being put on top of the spaghetti... But it was good, hearty food. The ambiance was easy going and friendly, the staff were brilliant. The young lady who served us made us feel very welcome and relaxed.
