The Moira Canal Festival 18th - 19th May 2019
Returning once more, the Ashby Canal Trust are once again putting on their massively popular event for one and all. The weekend will see plenty of entertainment on and off the water for young and old.
... This event raises money for the continued upkeep of the stretch of canal from Donisthorpe to the Conkers basin, and to the ultimate goal of linking this up with the Ashby Canal to recreate the canal in full.
Tickets are £5 for adults, £2.50 for children.

WINTER BOAT TRIPS ❄️🛥🛥🛥❄️ Our volunteers have done a fantastic job on servicing the engine of the Joseph Wilkes, and, to ensure it continues to run smoothly, we will be taking him out every: Wednesday at 1pm for a full canal run. We will be going: ... Through the locks to the Conkers basin, Turning around, heading back up, past the furnace On to Donisthorpe and then back.
The trip will be around 2 - 2.5 hours in total and we have room for around 10 passengers. We will be charging just £5 each for this experience as we will be running the boat whether we have any passengers or not.
If you would like to come for a ride, no need to book, just turn up no later than 1pm at the canal near the boat any Wednesday in February or March with your £5 and we will welcome you aboard!
Please be aware, we will be sailing in almost all weathers (apart from if the canal is frozen) so come prepared with warm, waterproof coats and maybe even a flask of something warm and wet.
ALL ABOARD!!!

I had the pleasure of spending an hour on Radio Leicester tralking to the wonderful Jimmy Carpenter today. Catch from about half an hour in talking about the Furnace, the canal festival and the recent spooky goings on among many other things.

I had a great time and I hope those watching enjoyed it too!
Events like this really help to draw out the history of a place and increase people's awareness of such a historically important location. Whether you believe it all or not doesn't matter, it cases debate and chatter but it only goes to increase the profile of Moira Furnace which will hopefully see it surviving long into the future.
Thank you Haunted LIVE, we had a blast! (Excuse the pun)
