Nhs Blood Donation

When I give blood the team are always so helpful and polite making it a much easier experience than some people may think, I urge anyone who feels up to it to not only donate blood but just an hour of your time every six months it all helps a good cause and i am proud to be part of it

What can be more simple yet rewarding then giving a unit of blood? The nurses and staff are attentive and skilled. They do their job with care and patience. People are seen to without too much of a wait. The procedure of taking blood is quick, clean and painless. If you've never given blood before why not give it a go. It's a no brainer.....you never know you could be the one needing it.

Today I received excellent care from the blood donor carers at Leicester Blood Donor Centre. The young man who took my blood was friendly, gentle and reassuring throughout. I felt quite faint afterwards and the nurses who helped me were efficient, practical and patient. Thank you for giving me the care and attention I needed in order to feel better.

The staff are friendly and helpful! And can’t do enough to make you feel welcome!

The staff are always so welcoming and nice and put you at ease straight the way. The place is small and friendly and clean. Ive gave blood twice and want to carry on as much as i can, knowing im helping people is so rewarding

Quite honestly I was incredibly nervous but Dawn made it so easy. With me having dyslexia she read everything to me and was so kind and patient. I hope next time she is at my local blood bank as she was AMAZING! Thank you Dawn at Markfield and my twin sister Meg for sitting with me!

Just got back from donating for the second time at this particular location. The staff are great - professional and attentive every time, really skilled at making you feel at ease and happy to make a difference.

I've been giving blood for 20 years, but for the first time ever tonight I did it without a local anaesthetic. I was feeling a tad nervous and anxious, but the staff were fantastic especially Esther and Julie (sorry if I have you name wrong). They were so supportive, kind and friendly. Thank you so much for all you do.

I'm giving blood for 7 years now, the session mostly takes no more than 30 min, with no pain, great and kindly service...

I gave blood for the first time yesterday and all the staff were really friendly and I want to say a big thank you to jo she explained everything and I felt in very safe hands x

I donate platelets every month. The staff are great and we have a good laugh. Great service with the tea and biscuits they'd even peel grapes for you if you wanted.... I look forward to going every month... keep up the great work.

Great team look after you every time so if it's your first time and u feel scared don't be the nurses are brilliant they will talk to all the time and explain what they will be doing believe me when it's all over just think u have saved some ones live and u feel good in self for doing something positive as a thank u u get a cup of tea biscuits and chat to the other donners so yes my advice book in and start donating ❤️

Good & rewarding experience for me donating blood for the first time. I've work in NHS see elderly & frail people needed blood transfusion & how help them to feel better. I hope that many people will donate their blood to help those people that needed them, and I feel proud of myself that I did it.

Gave my last Platelet’s donation today at the Leicester donation centre. Only my last because I’m relocating to South Wales. Always been made welcome and had a laugh and a joke during the sessions, so we’ll miss Ester, Karen and rest of the team.

Gave my first blood donation yesterday. Was very nervous, but was the most simple thing I've ever done. And the blood nurses were very caring and friendly. Already booked my second donation for December 😁

Gave blood yesterday for first time on arrival receptionist was lovely explain what going happen so bit nervous nurses and hca explained everything to me thank me coming put me at ease gave my blood didn't take long and best bit was got stickers and snack love my penguins biscuits and I be defently go back what lovely team leicester Vaughan way is

Everybody who can do so should donate blood or platelets. The staff are great, make it painless and easy, and you would be doing a great thing if you donated
