Bear motif burnt onto the F# cedar drone as requested. This one goes out on Monday.

The three amigos now finished! All from cedar of lebanon. Keys are, the big one C, the middle is E and the smaller one is F#. They should all be at Glastonbury at the end of the month... unless you want one now... just message me! :)

Drone time in the workshop. Some beautifully figured grain in this cedar of lebanon, difficult to work as the 'twisted grain' has a lot of tension in it and loves to wander once you cut and remove some stock.

Just need some strings then!

My new Native American Style Flute arrived today from Steve Frost of Nightstar Flutes. This beautifully crafted instrument is a Drone Flute made from English Yew and is in the Key of F#. It has a fumed Oak block and a Sycamore mouth piece.

The intonation of this flute is spot-on and the flute sounds beautifully ethereal and haunting when I play it. As soon as I saw this flute I had to have it. It is everything I am about, in a flute! And Steve was brilliant right from start when I wanted this flute. He kept in touch throughout the building process, sending me photographs and updates as the flute was being made.

As soon as the flute was ready he posted it securely packaged in a strong cardboard tube. When it arrived it was perfect in every way and I was delighted to see the flute also came with a high quality cloth flute bag. If you are thinking of buying a Native American Style Flute, weather you are in the UK or anywhere in the world, then buy one from Steve and Nightstar Flutes. Have a couple of flutes from this great man Steve Frost (the play really well) and went yesterday to make my own flute to his workshop in Kettering. It was a fantastic experience, fun, nurturing and then you walk out of there with your own flute and having seen and experienced how these beautiful instruments are made. Very happy and grateful.

Had a wonderful day making my flute. Guided gently and coached by Steve Frost. He is a great guy, skilled craftsman and brilliant teacher and coach. His enthusiasm, and love of what he does, made the day a very special one, and not just for joy and accomplishment of making the flute, or ending up with a beautiful instrument.

Great guy, wonderful flutes, my new companion flute is delightful & I have eyes on another of Steve's creations.
