Extension South: Boughton platform brick work progress - the first section of the facing bricks is reaching completion, as shown in the photograph by David Millard on Sunday 21st of April 2019. There is an urgent need for volunteers to help lay the blocks & bricks to ensure the N-LR meets the grant funding requirements. So please come a long & lend a hand - you can operate the mixer, shovel the sand, cement or aggregate, lay the bricks & blocks or fill in the holes with concrete.

On Thursday the 18th of April 2019 the new volunteers welfare container was craned into its final position. A 138 tonne crane was used to lift the 4.7 tonne container due to a reach of 26m being required. Thanks is given to CIO Trustees, Brian Chambers, Colin Haddon and David Millard who positioned the six level crossing panels into position by the use of a crow bar and their muscles. The next task is to level the container and then plumb & wire in the services. If you'd like to help our please join up as a Volunteer Working Member - see https://www.nlr.org.uk/the-volunteers-at- the-nlr-need-you/ for more details or download the membership form from https://www.nlr.org.uk/…/upl…/2019/03 /A4Memberships_V4.2.pdf If you can't join in please consider showing your support by joining as a member or sending a donation.

A photographic record of the refurbishment of Bridge 11. Bridge 11 spans a River Nene tributary water course. The Bridge 11 refurbishment forms the largest part of the civil engineering tasks for the Extension South to Boughton Crossing. Bridge 11 is a curved viaduct comprising a number of brick arches and a steel girder jack/cattle arch at the northern end. The current bridge was constructed in two halves so it replaced a timber one when the line was double tracked, thus kee...ping the trains running.
If you would like to support restorations like this please consider donating via https://www.goldengiving.com/…/northamp ton-and-lamport-rai…/ or becoming a member of the N-LR. If you would like to donate towards the Bridge 11 project please donate to the Boughton Extension appeal at https://www.goldengiving.com/…/northamp ton-and-lamport-rai…/

Ex-Wicksteed Park loco arrives at N-LR for restoration
Ex-Irchester Quarries loco No.9 arrived at the N-LR in February 2019. The engine stood in Irchester recreation ground from 1969 to 1979 and was a popular feature of the Wicksteed Park playground from 1979 to 1992. Its new owner has now begun dismantling the engine ready for its restoration to operational condition.
You can follow the restoration on the engine's Facebook page ‘Andrew Barclay 2323 Restoration’.
... If you'd like to help the owner, please have a look at https://www.nlr.org.uk/the-volunteers-at- the-nlr-need-you/ and join the railway as a Volunteer Working Member.

Please help us achieve our long-held goal of completing and opening our extension to Boughton by Spring 2020. Donations can be made via our new Golden Giving fundraising page at:
https://www.goldengiving.com/…/northamp ton-and-lamport-rail…
We need to contribute £18,000 in match-funding against the generous grants already awarded last Autumn by LEADER and Daventry District Council.
... All donations via Golden Giving can include Gift Aid, to help boost the amount you give.
Please help this dream become a reality really soon.
Many thanks for your generosity ☺️

The past couple of weeks has seen a fair bit of progress at the N-LR. Team Steam have pretty much finished the cladding on the new loco running shed. Team Orange have progressed the wiring in Boughton No2 box to the point where we can perform functional tests with the two fully operational boxes at Pitsford Sidings and at Pitsford & Brampton Station. More testing, restoration & installation will be going on every weekend so why don't you join us? See https://www.nlr.org.uk/the-volunteers-at- the-nlr-need-you/ for more information
