In A&E at 2am this morning, I met an amazing lady but something about her made me REALLY angry and upset....

User

Love it or hate it...could you lift a jar of Marmite with your vagina??
To be honest, I don't think we need to even test that out but did you see this interview on This Morning?
I think it's fabulous that pelvic floors and incontinence for both post-natal and menopausal women are being talked about on live TV.
... I also appreciated Doctor Sarah's input here and her cautionary words need to be heard.
If I'm honest, I would also have liked there to have been advice to seek the advice and support of a qualified female health physio to understand exactly what is going on for you.
Not all incontinence is caused by weakness and squeezing and lifting more may worsen issues for some women.
That's why I go into such detail before ladies even start my Holistic Core Restore(R) EveryWoman courses - so we're sure they are applying an appropriate focus to their Core and Pelvic Floor.
So if you'd like to improve your: ✅core strength ✅pelvic floor resilience ✅sex life ✅confidence
as well as your ✅general fitness ✅lifting technique
and reduce low back ache and other pelvic and hip discomfort
all without having to lift any household items with your vagina, then click the link below to learn more about my upcoming course:
http://www.optimum-health.me.uk/training- fo…/everywoman_hcr/
Next course starts on Thursday 27th September and places are limited.

What do you make of this ad?
Leaks happen & pads can provide support while you deal with the cause of the issue
....they are NOT the solution though?
... Sure our pelvic floor may feel different after having a baby but if you're leaking each time you lift your baby up, we need to talk!!
Whilst very COMMON, leaking on any kind of lifting....be that your children, shopping or weights in the gym is NOT NORMAL
& I can help with that.
For freedom & confidence to laugh, cough, lift, sneeze, run & even jump check out the Holistic Core Restore(R) link below or drop me a message to learn more

Lisa
P.S. I personally pre-screen every woman joining this course in great detail to ensure we fully understand the nature of your Core and Floor issues and the focus areas that will give each individual their best results. Although we work as a small group (maximum of 8 women) this is not a 1 size fits all approach. You matter....and so does your Core and Pelvic Floor.

Just love working with this amazing lady and so very proud of everything she has achieved in our time working together.
Kim started private nutritional coaching with me towards the end of July this year.
She'd already tried slimming clubs and other approaches but struggled to lose even a small amount of weight and nothing stuck.
... We started differently.
I listened to Kim's story - what she likes, what's important to her, what her day-to-day life is like and from there we devised an "experiment".
Even the language I use is carefully chosen to help connect with an approach that will work for my clients.
We've spent a lot of time working on her mindset - how she responds to thoughts, stress and old habits.
Kim has put in so much work and the rewards tell from her gorgeous smile throughout this video.
Since this video she has continued to lose weight steadily and has ✅ lost her fear of getting weighed, ✅ditched various relationship issues with food and ✅ has now lost over 1 1/2 stone.
Watch the video below to see what Kim thinks and how she feels.

Woop woop.
Chuffed to bits with one of my online client's progress.
Not only is she smashing her results, she is managing her nutrition through following our agreed plan & listening to her body.
... So very proud of how far she has already come but this quote from her today was THE BEST:
"I feel so good I just want to walk around naked"
It's not just about numbers on the scale
It's not all about calorie counting
It is about working to your schedule & finding an approach that works for You.
I spent a lot of time listening, asking questions & getting to know this lady in our early days together to propose a strategy specifically for her.
She has done all the hard work of actually implementing that plan which shows in her results
BUT how awesome she feels means even more than that- to her & to me.
My upcoming Athlete12 course provides virtual support for your nutrition including: ✅ managing how much you eat without counting every single calorie ✅ balancing what you eat and drink within your schedule ✅ supporting you around emotional eating ✅ providing a recipe pack and ongoing recipe cards over the 12 weeks of the course
PLUS you receive 3 new workouts via video every week to improve your fitness, support your weightloss and grow your strength
AND the best bit is, you can do all of this, with my full support from your own home as the 12 week programme is delivered virtually to your inbox and private Facebook group.

ARE WEIGHT BELTS ACTUALLY WEAKENING YOUR CORE?
Can using a weight belt damage your pelvic floor?
The answer can be YES to both questions.
... In just 3 minutes I explain 2 of the ways that using weight belts without first
✅building your inner strength
✅connecting your breath, pelvic floor, abdominal muscles & spinal alignment
✅honing your lifting technique from your feet up
CAN lead to: 😲 leaking urine when you lift
😲 prolapse
😲 ongoing lower back pain
^^^ bypass all of these risks by
💪 understanding how your Core & Pelvic Floor connects with your breath & movement
💪 building your lifting technique with a co-ordinated connection through your Core & Pelvic Floor
💪 learn simple cues to help you feel when you need to make adjustments....around your energy, menstrual cycle & other "girly" factors.

WHAT HAVE USAIN BOLT & MO FARAH GOT TO DO WITH MY PELVIC FLOOR???
Everyone assumes that pelvic floor issues relate purely to weakness, or to recently having had a baby..... ❌WRONG!❌
1 in 3 women will suffer from incontinence
... ^^^ that statistic even applies to ELITE ATHLETES so it's not just about weakness.
I won't bore you with intimate details of the structure of your pelvic floor but in this video I explain, with the help of Mo Farah and Usain Bolt, other ways in which pelvic floor issues can arise.
This is why there is not just one set of squeezes that will address pelvic floor issues.
We need to suit an approach to an individual and coach them based on what's going on for them.
So some people may need to focus on squeezing,
some may need to focus on holding for slightly longer
and others need to focus on letting go
....which is right for You?
DO YOU KNOW????
My next Holistic Core Restore(R) EveryWoman course is coming up soon in which I: ✅ go through your details with you to identify the best support approach for you
✅ fully coach you on different aspects of Core and Floor health for greater connection, strength and resilience - reducing leakage, improving prolapse and ensuring you're supported (without pads) for all the activities you love to do
✅take you through whole body workouts that support your core strength and pelvic floor, whilst also reducing low back pain
If you'd like to know more about the course, to chat about the video or ask me questions, please drop me a message via this page.

It's a record breaking day in the Studio!
At least in my eyes 👀🎈.....our balloon celebrates her 1st birthday!!!
In her first year, this balloon has made an incredible contribution to women's health in Lincoln
... 🎈starring in my Core Confidence & Cake workshop a year ago today
🎈perfectly illustrating why pelvic floor exercises aren't enough
🎈demonstrating why we need to be able to manage the pressure in our abdominal cavity for a strong core and floor
🎈providing a football for my boys when they're in the Studio with me
🎈giving much entertainment to the toddler's have visited the Studio with their Mummies, allowing their Mummies to focus on their Stronger Mummy course
🎈starring in various videos with me to demonstrate the principles of Core Control and the consequences of certain abdominal behaviours
and much more!
I think you'll definitely agree that she needs an award for her 1st year of service 🏆🏅😄
I didn't sing "Happy Birthday" in the video as that would have ruined the occasion but we do show you a taster of the value this balloon can offer.
And if you'd like to know more about: ✅connecting with your core and pelvic floor
✅addressing pelvic floor issues
✅improving core strength
✅reducing low back pain and pelvic discomfort
✅achieving a flatter tummy

Did you know there's MORE THAN ONE WAY to squeeze your pelvic floor?
Did you know that for some women, being able to release and relax their pelvic floor is MORE IMPORTANT than being able to squeeze and contract it?
Do you know HOW HARD you're supposed to squeeze?
... Many women answer NO to most, or all of these questions.
Yesterday in my live video, I spoke about a "KNOWLEDGE GAP"
- that when women encounter 👉🏻leakage, 👉🏻pelvic discomfort (which may include heaviness, dragging, persistent low back pain and more) or 👉🏻prolapse
they presume the answer is incontinence pads, pelvic squeezes or surgery 🙁.
Understanding where your own pelvic floor is at, is vital to be able to fully support it.
I think every woman should see a female health physio at least once a year - a bit like an MOT to keep you connected with your core and floor.
Even then, it's NOT JUST ABOUT THE SQUEEZE....
❓how many squeezes should you do ❓how long should you hold them ❓how do you relax and let go of the pelvic floor
and vitally
❓how do you incorporate this pelvic floor connection with everyday movement and exercise ❓how do you manage the pressure in your abdomen and down onto your pelvic floor to reduce creating or worsening the situation "down there"
This is ONE element of what we cover on the Holistic Core Restore(R) EveryWoman course.
So whether you're ✅post-natal ✅pre or post menopausal ✅running for a hobby or long distances ✅frequently lifting heavy objects (from children or shopping to weights) ✅want to restart your fitness and wellbeing journey with a solid foundation
This course will suit and support You.

ARE YOUR THOUGHTS OR FEELINGS STOPPING YOU FROM GETTING THE BODY YOU WANT?
Most people will read that headline and think about weightloss but today Shona Macpherson and I are talking about the fact that thoughts and feelings stop women from seeking the support they need for Core and Floor issues.
Shona is a Life Coach, supporting women to find freedom from "stuckness" and secret eating through coaching, trekking for wellbeing and retreats*
... We talk about how thoughts about 👉🏻stress incontinence/leakage, 👉🏻prolapse 👉🏻and other pelvic floor issues
can lead to EMBARRASSMENT & SHAME
and how that prevents us from accessing support that's available to easily address these issues.
Some women are in "DENIAL"...
ranging from
"it only happens a little bit, it's not that bad"....
to
"it happens to everyone at some point so I don't need to worry"
Neither of these statements are true....
neither of these statements, beliefs or thoughts release you from the stigma or mental and physical effect that pelvic floor issues bring....
- we talk about how these thoughts and feelings reduce your CONFIDENCE & FEMININITY & what you can do to address your mindset to get the support you need.
When we talk about "the body we want", most people's thoughts turn to how their body looks - but how we feel in our bodies drives our ambition, enthusiasm and motivation to care for our bodies.
Post-natal and menopause are key points in a woman's life when your body often doesn't quite feel your own any more - and the thoughts and feelings that accompany these transition points in a woman's life can have a major impact on how she lives.
Grab a brew and sit back as Shona and I talk chat about all of this and more...
Lisa
P.S. If you'd like to talk to me about your concerns or aims for your own Core and Floor please drop me a message via this page

Incontinence is one of the main reasons older people are admitted to care homes
It may start much earlier in life though- after having a baby, through menopause or even as a result of frequent, intense exercise.
The economic costs are high...but the mental, physical & emotional costs to individuals are even higher.
... It's not "normal" & there is support to restore your control & confidence.
Great #Repost from @kegel8uk • • • Breaking the taboo around the topic of incontinence is more urgent than you think. It forces those affected to #SufferInSilence. 10 organisations including @Age_UK, @Alzheimerssoc, @MarieCurieUK and @Parkinsons.UK published a report on Wednesday 22nd August calling for ‘evaluation of the economic impact of incontinence…and investment in research with a focus on non-drug and non-surgical interventions that allow people to take care of their own needs.’ This is the crux of what Kegel8 is striving to achieve, we want to empower people by providing the means to strengthen their pelvic floors rather than silently resigning to a life they are unhappy living. Society’s unwillingness to talk about this issue is restricting the lives of those who live with it and often ‘people are left to manage alone because they feel too embarrassed to seek help’ – Lesley Carter, Clinical Lead at Age UK . . . . #Incontinence #Life #Today #Aging #Care #Health #PelvicFloor #Holistic #HolisticIsBetter #Problems #Solutions #Questions #Issues #Support #Services #TogetherWeWillBeStronger #holisticcorerestore #myoptimumhealth

Want to : 👉🏻build your core strength?
👉🏻tone your body?
... 👉🏻 improve bone health? AND 👉🏻manage your stress?
These are just some of the reasons that people enjoy my Pilates courses.
My next courses start at the beginning of September – check out the link below if you want to join one of my sessions. http://www.optimum-health.me.uk/training- for-every…/pilates/
_________________________________________ ______
Over the last week, I’ve shared with you posts showing Pilates moves I AVOID and I recognise that this can paint a picture that puts people off Pilates.
What I wanted to highlight is that back pain and core issues are complex and Pilates is not a one-stop shop solution. Pilates can be part of the solution with the right approach for You.
Which is why my pre-screening of participants is so detailed – to allow me to fully support you through your sessions, ensuring you achieve the progress you’re looking for.
Pilates is great for: ✅ mindful movement
✅ full body control
✅ improving bone health
✅ strengthening the upper body
✅ toning the lower body
✅ improving balance and co-ordination
✅ developing core strength
✅ reducing back, hip and shoulder pain
✅ increasing flexibility
and much more.
In the video below I’ve selected some of my favourite Pilates moves for ticking those boxes above…
…you might see them and think “I could never do that!” – what I also do in the videos below is show some of the variations for doing the same moves.
EVERYTHING IS ADAPTABLE.
Whether you have a knee issue, wrist issue, shoulder issue, back issue, foot issue…..or anything else, my experience and skills mean I can tailor moves to adapt to your requirements within our small group setting.
This also means that my sessions are suitable for absolute beginners with tonnes of progressions for more advanced participants (as I find Pilates is the perfect complement to other training disciplines).
My next courses start at the beginning of September – check out the link below if you want to join one of my sessions. http://www.optimum-health.me.uk/training- for-every…/pilates/
Or feel free to contact me by messaging this page if you’d prefer to talk about your specific needs.

Lisa was very good she taught me many issues and facts I never knew after having a baby. We think having a baby is all about looking after them, but we need to look after ourselves too because if we don't them baby will not get 100%. From breathing, lifting, eating and of course excersisers which I am still doing. I am so,glad I did the course and can highly recommend it to others.

Lisa is the only coach I have had that totally focuses on you. Her approach is amazing. I have made significant changes to my nutrition and activity, she is making a real difference to a painful problem I have. Every session is individualised to me. She is realistic and that makes it achievable and definitely worth the investment. Congratulations to Lisa for her nomination for an award from, lift the bar, it's well deserved

User

Lisa is one of the most amazing people I have met! She encourages me to listen to my body so my workouts are tailored to how I feel at the time! How refreshing! She is also helping me to actually like my body which is something I struggle with! She is all about "real" people and learning to love who you are! Her knowledge and professionalism is outstanding and it's an absolute pleasure to work with her! Thanks for everything Lisa xx

User

Lisa is fantastic and a must have for anyone after having a baby. The NHS fail to address diastasis recti & pelvic floor injuries and hand out a leaflet . Lisa ensures you fully understand all aspects of your body after childbirth and helps you improve and recover by talking through each element in any easy to understand way. My stomach is more or less fully healed and I am back to pre baby fitness which wouldn’t have happened without our sessions. I can run, jump, lift etc without any problems. I still use the taught principles now. HIGHLY recommend! Xx

User

Lisa is amazing! I've trained with her forever and she has me crying with laughter every time! I love her down-to-earth-ness and realism. Adaptability is her middle name. When I've had a rubbish week she knows just what to do and adapts the session to suit, by doing a more relaxing session. Equally she knows how and when to push me a bit further to get the best out of me. The conversations we have are interesting to say the least!

From a professional point of view she is always on hand to discuss cases and is a great source of information. I can relax in the knowledge that my patients are in safe hands when I refer them to her for pilates or post natal courses.

I'm proud to have Lisa as a coach, colleague, sounding board and chocolate eating friend. I look forward to my Tuesday mornings

I've trained with Lisa at Optimum for around 3 years now, attending her Pilates sessions and it's probably the most important part of my training plan. Here's why:

1. Alignment, core stability & strength:

* Pre pregnancy - correct alignment & a strong core meant that I could go about my everyday activities as well as lift weights, run, cycle and swim knowing that I had a solid and safe foundation to build upon.

* During pregnancy - as my body changed with the pregnancy, so Lisa adapted certain parts of the class for me to ensure it supported the new needs that I had. I trained with her up to 2 days before my son was born. I felt strong and confident and knew how to support my body during and after birth.

* Getting back to it after birth - 6 weeks after the birth of my son, I was back to Pilates with Lisa further adapting and adjusting exercises to suit my stage of recovery and helping me to adjust to my post-birth body. Alignment and core strength being at the heart.

2. Breathing and relaxation

* Pre pregnancy, it was a perfect hour to allow my body to have time to slow down ready for my rest day on a Friday.

* During pregnancy, a time to really check in and connect with my ever changing body with Lisa's guidance.

* Post baby, it is an hour to concentrate solely on myself and the breathing techniques needed to help my body (abdomen) recover.

3. Enjoyment

Simple...I love it!! I love the format, the way Lisa teaches, the people and the feeling of restfulness at the end of a class.

I worked with Lisa last year having stumbled across the OptiMum website when looking for a health coach to help me loose weight - yet again! I wanted a different approach to my usual quick fix fad diet plan, never used gym membership or usual slimming group route and was immediately drawn to Lisa as she had been where I was - too busy working and looking after a family to prioritise my own health and wellbeing.

I liked her balanced approach and the fact she didn't promise fantastic weight loss or amazing body transformations that would no doubt have required strict diet regimes and impossible to maintain exercise programmes!

Through our Skype coaching sessions Lisa helped my explore my goals and motivation thoroughly as well as looking at my nutrition and exercise which she tailored to my specific needs. However Lisa took a truly holistic approach to our coaching and we also explored issues related to my confidence. She even set me homework that involved reorganising and redecorating my kitchen as well as undertaking a personal shopping experience!

Lisa is a fantastic coach - encouraging, motivating, gently challenging as well as supportive, compassionate and truly understanding of all the issue facing busy mums in today's world. She has a wealth of knowledge skills and experience which she shares freely and passionately to help you achieve your aims. Lisa's knowledge of pregnancy and post pregnancy recovery is second to none and she should be prescribed to all new mums during this challenging period!

I would not hesitate in recommending Lisa and OptiMum to anyone looking for a real, down to earth and most of all fun coach and buddy to support you through your health and wellbeing journey.

Amazing. I’m 14mths pp and have diastasis recti and the baby bulge has not shifted. Lisa was incredible in that she did a thorough examination of my core and gave me a brilliant explanation of how the body works in that area. After a few exercises and her working with me, the hole that was in between my two stomach muscles has now been repaired. This is massive for me. She’s done more for me in the short time she worked on me than any medical person in the last 14mths. I loved her approach and her advice is very specific to me. I can’t thank her enough 😊

Xx

Fantastic evening at core and cake! Sorry I had to dash off before my baby's next feed so I couldn't tell you face to face how fab it was! I'm starting marching first thing in the morning! Xx

Amazing lady. Always recommending Lisa to all of my female clients who need her expertise xx
