It's the famous Craven Pothole Club winch meet down Gaping Ghyll this week. Want to travel down on a winch beside Britain's deepest waterfall, explore the huge cave chamber at the base?? Here's your chance!
Please note that the winch will NOT be operating over the Bank Holiday weekend

A short drive from Orcaber or beautiful walk via Austwick and a section of the Pennine Bridleway brings you to the village of Clapham. This lovely Dales village has Clapham Beck running through it. The Beck's waters have been on a caving journey down Gaping Gill, re-emerging from Ingleborough Cave before flowing down to the village. Well worth a visit!

User

Just down the road from Orcaber, a few minutes by car, or there are some great walks, is the beautiful Dales village of Clapham, where you will find excellent cafes, the locally run village store, Ingleborough Show cave and much more - enjoy :)

User

Well let's hope this doesn't happen at Orcaber!!

User

Meet 'Ninja', he's on his holidays camping at Orcaber!! He enjoys a walk about in the grass (carefully watched over by his owners of course), a quick bath in a saucepan of water and by the looks of the photo was off on a bike ride! :)
Maybe we need a 'Tortoise Walk' as well as a 'Dog Walk'....

Orcaber is in an ideal location for walking -... up the famous Three Peaks, along miles of local footpaths or a quiet stroll to the local pub. Cycling and visiting the many attractions nearby are also popular - Whitescar and Ingleborough showcaves, Ingleton Waterfalls Wall, the charming Dales villages of Austwick, Clapham or Market Towns of Settle and Kirkby Lonsdale + much more.

View over towards Penyghent taken from the road between Horton (a local village, well worth a visit) and Ribblehead Viaduct (also well worth a visit). Penyghent is one of the famous Three Peaks along with Ingleborough and Whernside. All within easy reach of Orcaber by car or bike 🚲

User

The childrens' playground in Austwick Village - what a lovely setting for kids to play in :)

User

It's a short stroll (about a mile along flat country lanes) to the nearby village of Austwick and the popular Gamecock Pub which has a beer garden at the back - cheers! 🍷🍻🍽️

User

Wow!

User

Fabulous evening light yesterday :)
We hope everyone who stayed with us over the weekend had a great time!

User

'Limestone pavement' with Ingleborough in the background - both this and other equally beautiful landscapes abound in our area. Do come and visit us and the spectacular Yorkshire Dales National Park :)

Exciting News - Wifi is coming to Orcaber!! Neil and Keith have been hard at work laying the infrastructure for B4rn - the local broadband provider 🖥️💻📱

User

There are miles and miles of excellent cycling routes easily accessible from Orcaber so don't forget your bikes! :)

User

What amazing big blue skies with fabulous cloud formations we are seeing above us at Orcaber this week!

User

There are stunning views to be had in our area. Take a hike around the Waterfalls walk in Ingleton, or venture up onto 'Scales Moor' and this is what you could see :)

User

There are lots of interesting places to visit within an easy drive from Orcaber. Spotted this lovely shop in Ingleton recently.

User

Some views taken from the campsite and Dog Walk this week - what wonderful weather we are enjoying :)

the only thing wrong was the weather...it wasnt what we ordered! ha ha. no honestly this campsite is very well organised and attended to by the owners! had a walk to both Austwick and Clapham both lovely little villages.

we were allocated a lovely big pitch and altho the site was busy it didnt feel it! showers and toilets immaculate and loved the hand soap and moisturiser, nice little touch!

hope to be back soon and thank you

User

Wonderful peaceful site with fantastic views, lovely clean facilities and a friendly atmosphere, will be returning soon, highly recommend

User

We come here regularly. Lovely clean and tidy site. Only 10 min walk from the Game Cock pub which has stunning food and is dog friendly.

The site has about 5 hard standing pitches and plenty of other space some with electric hook up.

Also has some special memories as I proposed to my fiancé there in 2015.

User

Warm welcome and I was found a nice shaded pitch. Clean washing facilities. Nice and close to a quiet road . I didn’t see any rest room but no big deal. I will be back. Thanks

User

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Lovely site, toilets and showers were exceptionally clean...better then a lot of pubs/hotels we have been to! Dog friendly site, lovely dog walking area next to a river. Owner sells logs and kindling and will let you use fire pit or you can borrow one from him. The only slight niggle and believe me it is teeny...there are only 2 sinks for washing dishes...it got a wee bit congested. Would not hesitate to recommend this site for famiies. :-)

User

The best shower I have ever had on a campsite. Everything else is perfect but the showers

User

Lovely well maintained site in lovely surroundings. Thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay here, can’t wait to return.

User

Lovely site, not far off the main road so access is great, but far enough that there is no road noise at all do very tranquil! Lovely views, good access to hard standing pitches! Work being carried out to install a few more pitches but still small and friendly! Lovely place, will come back in the spring!

User

Lovely site, clean and tidy! Had a brilliant stay value for money!

User

Lovely site great views. Lovely clean facilities loved the showers. Great to get to use the fire pits. Will come back !

User

Lovely site and very friendly owners. Facilities are good - toilets were exceptionally clean (not just clean for a campsite!). Nice and quiet, but also well located for walks and activities around the Settle area.

Campfires encouraged with fire pits given out for free for the duration of stay. Dog friendly too.

A small play area of slides etc was about the only additional thing we as a family may have enjoyed, but that is not something that makes or breaks a camp site for us.

A very enjoyable stay!

User

Loved this site. Small and friendly with very clean amenities. Great views from our grass pitch. Excellent dog walking area and even get to see the beautiful horses whilst on the walk. Lots of space around the pitches and very handy for Austwick Village and some great walks without even moving the camper van. We even had a visit to our van from the very friendly chicken!! No kids with us but the football nets and plenty of grass for games was well used by some of the campsite children. Neil and Gaynor are developing the site nicely

User

Just spent another fabulous few days at Orcaber. It's nothing less than brilliant! Excellent facilities, great pitches, fantastic views and really helpful owners. Highly recommended!

User

Just returned home following our first two nights stay here. What a lovely place with brilliant facilities.

If you are planning to camp with children (especially young) then I would reccomend that you ask for a pitch nearer the bathrooms as a 3am toilet run in the dark can be interesting.

Also the showers which were amazing only take 50p coins not change.

We will most certainly be back!!!

User

Just come back from a lovely weekend on this site. Lovely and clean site and the owner very friendly and helpful .Had a walk to The Gamecock for some food which was lovely and they made 4 sausages for the dogs lol .

User

Just arrived home after a lovely few days at Orcaber camp site. A brilliant site that offers great amenities which are being developed over the coming months. The surroundings are spectacular with walks and attractions only a short drive away. Lots of pitches but plenty of space to pitch up. Football nets available for the children to play with along with picnic benches to use which was a nice touch. Will definitely visit again.

User

First visit in a few years. Great facilities and very well kept

User
