About Origami Blooms

Exquisite origami flowers and paper decorations

Origami Blooms Description

Hello, I'm Amanda. Welcome to my creative home on Facebook. Here's my story. . .

I started making origami with some nice paper I'd been given and very quickly I realised how satisfying it is - I especially enjoyed creating flowers which I could give to friends as gifts. My confidence grew as my folding skills developed and a couple of friends suggested I should think about selling my creations. I took the plunge in 2016 by making this page on Facebook to show pictures of my work. Slowly but surely my Origami Blooms business has grown and on occasions like Valentine's Day and at the end of the school year I've been rushed off my feet! It's been brilliant! I'm enjoying my work so much and I really love connecting with people through my passion of making beautiful origami <3

This amazing lady is my inspiration today! 🀩 I'm deciding which way to go with the garland I'm making and she's leading me towards tropical blooms 🌺 Watch this space, it's gonna get lush and colourful round here - even more than usual! P.s. is it just me or does her blooming face remind you of Big Bird from Sesame Street? πŸ˜‚

How productive am I with my childfree time!? πŸŒΈπŸŒ»πŸŒΉπŸŒΌπŸŒ·πŸŒΊπŸ’ I'm sure all single parents can relate to this. When you have a rare chunk of time to yourself you become super-efficient. Every second counts, it really does! I'll be happy to have my boys back home but oh, it's such a relief to feel on top of my workload for once πŸ˜…

When buying handmade you are buying more than an object 🌹 You are buying hundreds of hours of experimentation 🌱 You are buying days, weeks and months of frustration and moments of pure joy... 🌿 You aren’t just buying a thing. You are buying a piece of heart, part of a soul and a moment in someone’s life.

It's World Bee Day! This fuzzy one landed on the plant next to me while I was munching my lunch in the garden. Look how much pollen she's carrying in her leg baskets. That's a heavy load!
The main purpose of this day is to raise awareness of the importance of bees as pollinators, the threats they face and their crucial role in biodiversity conservation.
... Every individual can contribute to the preservation of bees and other pollinators:
🐝 Plant nectar-bearing flowers for decorative purposes on balconies, terraces, and gardens. 🐝 Buy honey and other hive products from your nearest local beekeeper. 🐝 Raise awareness among children on the importance of bees and express your support for beekeepers. 🐝 Preserve old meadows which feature a more diverse array of flowers, and sow nectar-bearing plants. 🐝 Cut grass on meadows only after the nectar-bearing plants have finished blooming.
There's lots more to learn so read up on it and do what you can to help save our bees! 🌻

4 happy students = 1 very happy origami tutor πŸ˜„ We enjoyed a lovely few hours together making sunflowers and leaves and chatting about all sorts. Everyone was delighted with their creations and left with a sense of achievement. So did I. I love teaching origami!

Rise and shine! I'm up and out early, got an origami workshop to teach. Making sunflowers! Wishing you all a wonderful day 🌻🌻🌻

🌿 Eureka! 🌿 It's gorgeously sunny here and this morning I designated it Self Care Wednesday. I have had a lovely day 😁 I helped my neighbour with her broken fence, relaxed in the sunshine, pruned the overgrown hedge, pulled weeds, ate lunch in the garden AND experimented with origami leaves for a new range of garlands. So satisfying!! 🌿 The pic shows a little glimpse of my favourite foliage experiment.. lots more coming soon!

Sunflowers in the sunshine, freshly folded today! They're such smiley blooms πŸ˜„ just like me on this gorgeous sunny day! As well as being International Paper Flower Day, it's also Mental Health Awareness month. The long dreary winter always gets me down but I don't realise quite how low I feel until proper Spring sunshine and warmth returns. Amazing how much it lifts my spirits and brings a whole new mindset along with it. Creativity has returned in abundance! 😍😎

🌸 Welcome, welcome! It's International Paper Flower Day! 🌸 I'm starting today with something new which has been in the back of my mind for ages.. paper flower confetti! You know I try to be as environmentally friendly as possible and I'm a keen recycler too: nearly all my origami flowers are made from 100% recycled paper 😍 Well I have a bag of paper offcuts I've been intending to reuse and at last I've found the perfect craft punch to make confetti! SO pretty AND totally biodegradable! 🌼 Shall I add it to the shop as a wedding accessory?

Happy sunny Monday to you! 🌞 This is my desk today, sunflowers in progress. Each time the sun reappears I have a flurry of orders for sunflower bouquets! Coincidence? πŸ€” In other news, I'm running my second origami workshop at The Craft Studio on Sunday 19th, this coming weekend, teaching - guess what? That's right, sunflowers!! πŸŒ»πŸŒ»πŸŒ»πŸ˜† Go to thecraft-studio.com to book your place to make your own or pop over to my shop to buy sunflowers made by yours truly 😎

So much floral inspiration in one photo! Cherry blossom and wisteria are two of my favourite Spring blooms - and don't they look glorious together?! 😍
I'm playing with ideas for garlands and a floral curtain for Sherwood Art Week. I have a huge 3x3m window I can use for my installation so I'm thinking BIG! May is going to be a month of experimentation... I'll post pics as I go along, feedback is always welcome! πŸŒΈπŸ’œπŸ™
