Sometimes clients tell me doing what they want for the “whole day” only adds to the guilt they can feel and can make depression or anxiety worse. As part of therapy we often negotiate a way to give themselves permission to go to have a timeout/recharge for a short period before doing some productive but kind to themselves. This is a useful compromise and can promote self compassion. What helps you when you are feeling that you need a timeout?
